I swear I've seen videos of Link running, jumping and creating an ice pillar beneath him to cross a body of water quickly, but I can't figure out how to do this for the life of me? Even with the rune already set to create the block beneath me, as soon as I jump off the first block, it starts the diving animation and cancels out of the rune interface before I can tell it to create a new block.

Arkham City was way better than Arkham Asylum. And Arkham Origins is by far the best in the series. Knight was meh.

It's always funny that people have such stark opinions between Arkham City and Arkham Asylum. At the end of the day it's which one you played first that you like the most, kind of like with Zelda games.

Btw anyone got tips for the flying guardians? Pretty much I always Revali's Gale to get above them and then drop an Ancient Arrow on their weak spot. Which works well obviously but it's pretty resource intensive.

I played Asylum before City and like City wayyyy more. I've beaten City twice and never even got half way through Asylum before getting bored. Origins is also really good (and also better than Asylum)

I usually just avoid them. They're the easiest guardian to completely ignore since they have set patterns and avoiding searchlights isn't really a new concept on Zelda.

Use a 3x bow for triple Ancient Arrow damage

Metacritic knocked it down to 97, OP.

But at 20 hours in and just scratching the surface I feel, this is the most fun I've had with Zelda (or gaming) in ages.

Side quest for Fronk in Zora's Domain.

with no real indication of where his wife could be. Except that the quest is called A wife washed away. So I decided to swim around in the East reservoir Lake but so far no sign. Without spoiling the location altogether, where do I start?

Did the same thing, then went back to him and talked to him again, and he gives you some location hints himself. But he kinda confirmed what i was already thinking.

I've never done that. One shot from an ancient arrow drops them from the ground.

This is what I did. However I'll note that his wife is colored light blue so it was tough to see her at first where she was in the water.

What motivated you to play City if you didn't like Asylum, though? They are structured differently but the overall content is basically the same.

Hmm guess I'm not missing any flying guardian secret tech then. I did just try and bring one down by bomb-arrow-ing the copter pods. Which worked and was cool but that's three bomb arrows down the drain...

ALSO! Wtf is going on here, I was just ducking around in menus and:

I'm missing a whole dang ability?

Same, I'm missing the same one.

Hi guys, wondering if anyone could help.

So, this is my first Zelda game and I absolutely adore it, so much so that I really want to dig into the rest of the games (will probably wait to see if any/all come to Switch in the next year or so) but I realise this is the first 'open world' one so how exactly do the other games play? I can't really imagine Zelda as much else having not experienced it.

Hmmm, personally, I'd recommend A Link to the Past for your next Zelda game. It will be as new of an experience as this game was for you.

I played Asylum first. In fact I even got it on release day. I still like City way more.

But yes, the first Zelda game I played is my favourite.

Twilight Princess

You never did a jump attack? :o

You can use stasis+ to see which ones are still alive and freeze them.

With 20+ damage weapons, it is doable. Great farming spot though.
Kinda want to try again under those conditions and see if I don't end up throwing my controller through my TV screen. My nerd rage can sometimes be unworldly.

Cutting off Guardian's legs is pretty satisfying.

It is a shame that they lose their intimidating factor after you realise that you can just reflect their beams at them.
I still found them a little nerve wracking. Since I only managed to get the parry about 50% of the time, it always felt like a do-or-die situation to me.

I only felt comfortable around them once I got upgraded stasis and the master sword.

Speaking of Kass, how do I get him to appear in Rito Village? Are there any specific conditions other than obviously solve all of his riddles?

Way off-topic, but you people are so picky, Arkham City is an incredibly polished, impressive, and well made game.

Uh, Zelda. Yeah. Love it.

Can I leave weapons on the floor of my house or will they disappear after a certain amount of time?
Edit: I tried it and they disappeared after like 5 minutes lol.

Also the weapons you get that can be repaired or replaced if lost, can I just throw them if I need the space and return to the weaponsmith and get them back for free?

just started the game yesterday but anyone got some tips for good recipes when starting out? Right now I'm just experimenting and most of it comes out as crap.

OK i need some hints here not the entire solution please.

I obtained my first special mission on the way to Hateno Village, after passing the wall with the defeated guardians. You get it from an old man inside a cabin. It says "Pierce the eyes of the cursed statue after having received the dark light" or something like that.
I have traveled all over the area and haven't found anything like a statue. I haven't gone further because the old man says it's "close".

Bugs, frogs, and lizards should only go with monster parts to make elixirs.

Pay attention to the descriptions of your ingredients. You can only have one special effect in the food you produce at a time, so if you add something that increases endurance and another thing that increases stealth, they'll cancel each other out and you'll just end up with something that restores health. On the other hand, if you add multiple ingredients that have the same type of effect, that effect will be stronger. Ingredients that don't have any kind of special effect besides heart restoration (like apples, meat, etc.) can be added to any recipe freely.

In particular, be on the lookout for ingredients that start with the word "Hearty" because those can temporarily increase your maximum hearts. Very handy especially in early game.

Wind Waker is also an open world, there are no loads in the overworld.

Yes, technically correct. I tend to disregard Wind Waker as "open world" game because the open "world" was realized by using the workaround of an expansive blue loading screen and actually precious little "world" to explore.

Yep. It's a very creative way to get around limitations. I love that kinda thing, taking a difficulty and turning it into this sort of world building.

One thing I do miss is diving. Sure, water diving controls were never that fantastic but it'd be great for underwater exploration. that would have been great.

...Do you think that that the entire world of Breath of the Wild is always rendered? You can literally see pop-in like 200 feet away.

The point they're making is that the world of BotW is traversed in meaningful, interactive ways all over, and large pockets of content and conflicts abound. WW's world is largely....sailing. Minimal interactivity, few enemies and obstacles...tiny islands surrounded by next to nothing. Mostly a lot of waiting around.
