*sigh* I'm really regretting my preorder.

I mean I wasn't expecting the moon. DAI in space without the MMO quests would've been good for me. This isn't each reaching that level.

The games playable but I'm cancelling my preorder and going to wait and see if they fix all the bugs and improve animations. Plenty to play in the meantime.

People called Romanes they go the house?
Might consider throwing in the 'additional character creation options at a later (unspecified) date' tweet by Mike Gamble if we're talking about things that will might get patched in later.

Patching animation fixes and all that shit seen in the gif thread would mean they have to repeatedly play through the entire game to catch further fuck ups that could be introduced. I wouldn't expect it ever.

I would have never dreamed it even up to a few days ago, but yeah, this game is not going to land very smoothly. Red flags everywhere, and yet I still think I will have some fun with it.

Someone should make a thread about the shitty character creation tool getting more options later at an unknown date (weeks or months probably) aka indicating Bioware rushed to release the game since the character creation tool wasn't ready and instead we got a disappointing subpar one.

Really sad :/
Didnt they claim when people complained about the awful animations in the VGAs trailer that it was a bug?
At this point i really doubt its a bug, more like they havent invested in proper facial animations.

Funny that shinobi claimed it would fix stuff etc...

Really not surprised anymore that the MP Beta was cancelled. People would have seen the game earlier in its buggy state etc.

I don't know why people keep hanging their hats on day 1 patches as some kind of miraculous panacea that can fix huge issues. That happens so very rarely that it's barely worth acknowledging.

I believe any game made before 1997 is "essentially cave man art."
lol you don't just whip up new animations quickly (with quality!) I can't believe people thought this was going to happen.

You don't fix animations like that, even less with that many issues.
Those believing otherwise weren't realistic.

I doubt we are going to see a lot of improvements down the line on facial animations. I wonder what went wrong there, since it's such a downgrade in comparison to Inquisition.

That bug done found a lady bug and reproduced 10 times over. And based on some of what we are seeing, Mr. and Mrs. Bug were probably related.

Lol this animation gate is absurd. Skyrim had shit animation, did everyone skip it? Zelda barely has any voice acting, barely any Cutscenes.. Doesn't matter one bit.

Play the game To play the game. It's ok to make fun of the animations but skipping it over some odd animations is absurd.

Bethesda and Nintendo don't try to sell their games on being 'cinematic' in any way.

No shit they aren't "fixing" the animations. If they gave a fuck, they would have done it after e3 (or vga's, whatever) when everyone was laughing about the faces.

Can't you cancel it?

I had the same expectations. DA:I was a great game imo, with some problems. No denying that. But after playing the trial of ME:A I'm disappointed. So much jank, bad animations all over the place (in a freaking dialogue and cutscene heavy game) and the first few hours are painfully boring.

I did not expect it to be so bad. Feelsbadman

Still, I'm hoping for positive reviews concerning the story. I wanna know if it gets any better. I'm certainly not buying it anytime soon tho, too many good games coming out atm

Nothing game breaking. Just some amusing voice acting and animations. By the time I reached some of the more infamous moments I just burst out laughing.

I hope I don't sound like an a-hole (I have money down on the game and now that I know that the patch fixes nothing that is obvious to everyone, I'll cancel tomorrow) but "amusing" isn't the sentiment I share when I see this.

  • 5 years in which time the facial animation looks to have regressed since DA:I
  • Not so hot frame rate on XB1
  • Serious Pop-in (LoD, characters and foliage) and clipping issues
  • Weird animation glitches during cutscenes and gameplay
  • Creepy looking models (a far cry from DA:I)
  • Limited character creation kit (esp. for women and non-whites)
  • Poor animation that's often incongruous with the tone of the dialogue as well popping from state to state instead of blending.

So to the person who asked about cancelling pre-order I say: It's your hard earned money, mate. If you think you'd be better served as a consumer to wait for the patches that they apparently are still figuring out and see the results, then cancellation is the better option.

Wondering if I should cancel my preorder... How bad is it?

It's mostly the animations and narrative issues like poor grammar this game will get slammed for. The actual combat gameplay is pretty good and the one thing they did get right.

They didn't just piss off their fans, just so they could solve everything with a day one patch, obviously.

Lol, 5+ years to make this game and they had to bring Edmonton studio back on to help and you think they will fix things like facial animations with a patch within months? They still have a shit ton of post launch support and dlc to do. If anything they will probably fix animations for the dlc not out. But whatever is coming on disc will stay this way.

If I didn't love this series and be getting this game day one at a steal, I wouldn't buy at launch.

Remember the developers and insiders saying that they'll polish up the shitty animations in december and january when people pointed out the horrible bugs in the official trailers?

Have animations ever been fixed before to the level this game needs in a patch? I want to say no but I might be wrong..

Oh, is that confirmed? Might really just hold off then and see what else they might fix.

Lady Insanity was told by PR and Mike Gamble tweeted it. He couldn't give a timeframe so most likely a long ways off. On my phone so can't find the sources right now.

For a game that is trying to be part RPG a bad narrative is a big red flag for me.

Too many other good games out right now, can wait on this game getting fixed or a heavily discounted price.

BioWare should move up the embargo. Numerous outlets (Forbes, PCGamer) are hinting that the game gets at least somewhat better, but those outlets can't talk about it in any detail beyond the first few hours.

Odd situation: BioWare is currently suppressing its best defense against the early internet backlash.

What happened to that whole old build thing when people were talking about the animation jank after the Game Awards or whatever.

Damage control to maintain hype and ensure that you'll still buy the game. I was already skeptical that they'd manage to fix those things when they were two months from going gold. So yeah, don't always trust devs and 'insiders' (but do recognize that games development is super hard)
