they don't need to have an 'answer'.
i think this train of thought of 'having a direct answer' is an ultra conservative approach, which is no surprise, seeing as 'hardcore message board gamers' are like american republicans; they want everything to stay the same and any bold movements in the name of 'progressing' the industry from their incredibly narrow definition of what 'video games' are/should be, is automatically criticised, made fun of, and removed from arguments of relevancy as quickly as they can hop to it.
mircosoft, sony, & nintendo need to completely focus on what they want to do & what their own definitions of the 'video game experience' is - they need to stop looking at each other for what to do next and carve their own paths.
only 'hardcore message board gamers' desire every console to be exactly the same with their generational tech, game line-up, and market strategy.
Let the big 3 do what they want. if it doesn't work out, then it doesn't work out.
as far as MS's answer to 'horizon & zelda' (which in themselves are quite different from each other, anyway), i would rather they ignore 'answering', and just come up with something else that isn't predictable, out of nowhere, and damn right cool/amazing with any need for any 'comparisons'.
