Can i request some help with the following Guardian bot
in the combat shrine off the far eastern shore line. I can get the Guardian down to its last 10 or 15% when it starts going ballistic with the numerous beam shots. It's a one shot kill with my meager 7 or 8 hearts - what is the best way to interrupt or avoid the beams and finish it off without significant damage?

Shoot it in the eye. Especially if you have electric or ice arrows.

My minimap disappeared for some reason. I'm using normal hud mode, and I can see all other hud elements besides the map. What's happening?

a bug, only other occasion when your maps disappear is inside sandstorms, but it's more like a static effect, also you can't really miss those.

I wish that would happen to me in reverse. I'd love a Pro mode with a minimap.
Yeah, I wish there were more HUD options. I'd go with hearts + map, probably. Right now I use pro mode and man, I'm honestly appalled anytime someone posts a screen shot with normal mode, haha. It's so messy.

Tests of Strength are combat tutorials, basically. They teach you a variety of combat maneuvers you must master to defeat them. It's so easy to flurry rush every single one of their attacks, but that's only because you learned to do that. You learn how to use an updraft as a method of approach, you learn how to stagger an enemy with a well-placed arrow, you learn the value of dodging left or right versus back flipping, they teach you how to fight against the three weapon types and how to fight an enemy with a shield, etc.

Once you've mastered the test, it's easy to defeat them without taking any damage. But that's kind of the point, I think. It's a test of your combat skills on a purely mechanical level.

I don't even do any countering like that. It's all the same essentially.

Run around, stasis, attack.

Keep near a pillar (if there is one) so when they jump back, they run into it and get dazed. Attack a few times, then stasis to get a few more hits in.

When it does it's spinning laser thing, just jump up to your glider then wait right above it until it stops then do a downward attack causing a ton of damage.

Then when it does it's charging laser attack, just wail on it until it dies. And if it's about to shoot, just stasis it and it'll probably die after.

Actually stasis is super broken once you know how many attacks you can get in before it retreats or counters.

Major spoilers
All of Ganon's forms are easily countered with attack + stasis + attack more.
But yeah, of course there's more to the fight than that.

I'll record one (off screen) next time I run into a combat trial.

I have this feeling that this game wouldn't be half as enjoyable if it wasn't on the switch. The portability of it fits it like a glove. In fact, I treat the switch as a handheld at the moment.
What's everyone's thoughts?

what do the divine beasts icon mean on the hud? i usually play with the pro hud, but i wanted to monitor the weather, and i suddenly see the icons. i did all the beasts, but it seems
vah ruto
is greyed out,
vah medoh
had x3, and the other two have x1.

wth does that mean??

hehe "combat tutorials"

Or just pick your strongest two handed melee weapon and spin to win on their back. And when they change phases to spin charge you or whatever, do the little mini game thing to get to them and go back to spinning to win.

one is probably recharging (it will slowly fill with color until charged again), the others have usage quantities before recharge.

but i don't understand, recharging for what? i haven't gone to hyrule castle yet so maybe it has something to do with that, but does that mean there's an ideal moment to go and a bad moment to go to the castle? what if all beasts are recharging for whatever?

Those are your new special abilities. If they are greyed out then that means it's been fully used and recharging.

Is the shrine quest where you have to stand
on a platform without and armour and under a blood moon
broken or did I just misunderstand it?

I came across the quest after
a good amount of time had passed since the last blood moon
so I figured
I'd just camp on the spot with a fire and wait it out
, but the
first night
triggered the activation of the Shrine with
no blood moon in sight
. Was it the
fire on the platform
that did it or something else?

Surely I'm not the only one who will, if it's raining and I come across one of the small tents, crouch inside and wait the rain out

It just feels right. The game and its nature are immersive enough to where it just feels like another part of a wilderness trek. Luckily took a pic of this last week at some point.

I love waiting out a storm. Sometimes people will run by to seek shelter and we will have chats. I might start a fire if there's enough room. Kind of wish there was a sit option.

Edit: beaten by Tom Nook.

It triggers at the first sign of blood moon, basically around 8PM or 9PM. You might not notice it in the sky.

oh you mean the abilities you get from the
fallen champions, like urbosa's fury and mipha's grace
?

Yep. They are of limited use but recharges over time once used up completely.

Yup. I was confused by it too when I saw peoples' screenshots. It's strange to me that they're on the HUD at all, let alone represented by the divine beast symbols.

What time does the
"Wait until night" option put you at? Shrine was up the instant the game loaded up.
I can't recall if the
blood moon I encountered later on that play-session was the same night or not but it was definitely a good deal of time after I had left that shrine
.

I really like how farming some items is an puzzle in itself, since the sensor only gives you the direction and especially with hills and mountains in your way, you sometimes have to figure out how to make your way through it to reach the collectible.

Night I believe puts the time at 9PM. My situation was actually the same as yours, then after a short visit to the shrine it's almost midnight and the blood moon occurred. So the pedestal lights up on the night of the blood moon and not necessarily when the blood moon effect is about to make its presence, which starts at about 11PM.

119 Shrines, last one is the goddamn
Blood Moon
Shrine so who knows when I'll finish it. 3 full Stamina wheels, everything else into Hearts, all but two melee weapon slots, all memories recovered. After I get all 120 Shrines I'm gonna max out the prize and then head into the castle :D

I camped over and over and over and over... like probably more than 20 times, and it finally lit up. At least it actually activates before you can even see the moon.

It seems a lot of people camp this shrine... but why? I just teleported to a nearby shrine and flew over when I saw the blood moon. It stays active for a bit after the cutscene ends, for all I know it might be possible to reach it even if you teleport after the cutscene.

Digging the Goron city so far; town music reminds me of Earthbound a little. Also, NPCs in this game are so expressive.

The Goron 'shocked' expression is the best.

lol, I really don't like the motion control oriented shrines and of course my 120th shrine was like the worst fucking one in the game, but I managed it pretty easily (for once). It was the one where at the end you have to
rotate the cube with the torches
on all sides.

My 119th Shrine was
the one in the Dark Woods and I'm SO pissed that wasn't my final Shrine. That one was super cool. Instead my final Shrine was a Modest Test of Strength -___-

Now I'm debating if I actually want to farm the required upgrades for the reward I just got or if I wanna just go fight the last boss. There's still lots for me to do in the game (so many side quests and I only have ~140 Korok Seeds) but I also really wanna complete the story.

59 guys... That's how many 100% Reviews Breath of the Wild on the Switch has as of now, that's the highest amount of "perfect" scores for any game in Metacritics history :)

I remember some guy to look up GTA IVs 100s in PC/PS3/X360 to reach 58 "perfect" 100% Reviews, guess they were a bit too early. -also if you include the WiiU 100s the number rises even more but I think that is quite dumb, so let's keep it at 59 "perfect" Scores :)

This is part of the conclusion of the 59th 100-score review by the way:

"It is a magical trip to a brave new world for the franchise. There are some issues and possibly a few flaws, but they are not capable of leaving even a smudge on the beautiful face of this masterpiece." -gameover.gr 10.0/10

I just did that shrine last night. I put on my
Dark Link
outfit for added effect too. Damn great shrine.

It's nice you are given a decent
amount of time to unlock the shrine. Figured it was going to be significantly more waiting around than I actually ended up with.

Somehow I managed to have a harder time fighting ganon a second time lol. Armor and recovery help a lot in lowering or increasing the difficulty.

Also saw new attacks I hadn't seen last time. Anyway I'm done with playing the game for now. DLC might pull me back in.

Kilton suprised me. I bought so much cool gear from him randomly just by stumbling upon him in random areas and checking to see if he had new stuff.

He did!

I fucking suck at trying to make elixirs. Feel like I've cooked a million different critters with each beast part and get dubious food 99.999999% of the time.

I know this is really basic shit, but why do I have cube and sphere bombs? Is there any difference besides their shape?

It's really weird to me that they have two separate runes for them. You should just be able to swap with a button press once you've selected the bomb rune. But yeah, as others have stated, sometimes you want a bomb to stay put, and other times you want to roll it.

Depends on the critter.

From what I can tell: meat, poultry, fish, and crabs are all part of the "food" group, and can only be cooked with other "foods". Other critters belong to the "elixir" group, and must be combined with monster parts.

Alright, I'm giving up on a sidequest from the Twin Peak stable - the two brothers looking for a treasure.

The hints are about the spring of a river and a dragon by night and so far I've tried everything. Tried to give him both drops from that particular dragon, waited by night for the exakt spot where the dragon would appear by night and look for a treasure chest there, but nothing... am I totally off track? Any hint would be appreciated.

But what if there's a puzzle that uses both almost simultaneously or at least in very quick succession?

Just started this absolutely amazing game and probably about ~5 hours or so in.

I can say easily that this is my favorite 3D Zelda of all time. Easily. I haven't had this much sense of wonderment since I played the original Zelda (which aLTTP refined oh so well).

Just one quick question playing through the story, do you ever discover where it falls in the timeline? Please no specifics if "Yes" just a simple Yes or No will be appreciated. (and for others, might be considerate to spoilertag the answer).

Thanks in advance.
