Flurry rush is harder to pull off against the mace wielding lynels because the hitbox is ginormous and the timing is more strict.
My trick with Lynel's is to shield parry, then arrow to the face. This properly stuns then. Whack em a few times, then mount them for a few more. When thrown off, slowmo arrows before you hit the ground :D

Finally the way you stumble across the
master sword
felt very underwhelming to me, it actually reminded me of AlttP, l thought it was a fake and that the real one was further ahead
I loved the area aesthetically, but I had no troubles getting through lost woods so the destination didn't yet feel earned. I think a bigger problem was that the Korok music starts playing, which is really charming, but not the appropriate music upon approach of
a sacred sword and the Deku tree.
It kind of lowered the impact of the reveal.

On the plus side this game has the best actual
removal of the master sword :P
which i kind of cheesed by going and making blood pacts with a demon statue.

Yeah that's a good point, the path through the Lost Woods is actually super short and the way you solve it can be really dumb. For instance l didn't even get that you were supposed to
follow the embers of your torch
, l just wandered for a bit, saw that there was a glade on my map, headed straight towards it and voila, problem solved. l didn't feel rewarded at all. Say what you want about the game but Twilight Princess for ex actually made you work for it.

OMFG!!! That Shrine in the
lost woods
nearly killed me! I literally ran around the room for 45 minutes...looking at the wall and then reading the stone tablet and then looking at the wall again. Over and over again.

This was my 93rd shrine. I haven't looked up the answer to any of them, but I was really close with this one. jesus. :/ The solution was so simple. I feel like an idiot.

You wandered in an incredibly fortunate path, then. I tried that myself, and they really tried to prevent you from doing that.

Would love to see a video of that. Maybe you got lucky? Before I figured out the real way I kept getting lost, but then again, I made it a self imposed challenge to not open the map screen during this part and had one of the best experiences in the game.

You'd be amazed how many people including so called professional reviewers do this. It's easy to get away with it when it's a single player game too.

It's why you have to be actively aware of who specifically wrote a review of a title you're curious about and whose impressions you're reading on places like NeoGAF.

You could cheese it by avoiding the fog, but heading straight for it on the map only works if you've already gone pretty far on the correct path.

I just did the Blood Moon Shrine quest by standing naked on the platform for like 5h while I was playing Mass Effect... At some point I turned to look at the Switch and it was in the middle of the reveal animation lol

I'm still not sure if i like this game or not yet. The weapon durability is annoying as hell, and while i get not holding your hand, im not even sure if i should be doing some quests. I just left kakariko village and promptly get one shot by essentially everything. And this was a main quest.

So not entirely sure what im doing wrong with this game.

You're not doing anything wrong. Just explore. There's really no right or wrong way to play.

Ah I see

I went thru that on horseback with torch in hand, was the most epic thing for me when I arrived with my white horse slowly approaching that which shall not be named.

You will need to use more than just your melee weapons. If you don't like using stealth, runes, bow or environment to help with combat you will not enjoy the battles. Using melee alone will leave you tons of grief.

Basically how I approach combat:

I spot an enemy camp with 2 lookouts and 4 melee with 1 elite with hilvl weapon

1. Survey and note all advantage of the environment - vantage point, bomb barrels, crates to hide behind, areas you can set up chuchu traps etc

2. Take out the snipers undetected

3. Take out one melee one and immediately take his weapon

4. Take out the weaker ones

5. Take out the elite

Simple rule to follow is when an enemy drops their weapon, immediately pick it up and use it. Save your good weapons for tough enemies. And always use bombs and arrows and runes.

If you have problems getting killed by one hit, purchase the early armors in Kakariko. They provide like 9 def, which is 3 times your early clothing. And they're pretty cheap.

Weapons are scattered in every area, even villages you visit. And materials for cooking are on nearby places as well So you may want to stock up and cook before leaving villages. Take advantage of things that are essentially freebies and as you kill monsters on camps you'll get replacement weapons and more stocks you can use like arrows or rupees.

Been trying to gather my overall thoughts and rankings and all that fanboy bullshit that happens upon first finishing a game in a beloved series since beating it a few hours ago.

I was thinking this game might finally surpass Chrono Trigger as my all time favorite, and maybe it did. I don't know. With Zelda, I feel like most of them have their strengths and weaknesses and it's always been so hard for me to be more objective as I love most of them.

BOTW does some things better, and for me subjectively worse. I didn't like the Divine Beasts more than traditional dungeons, but they were brilliant in their own right. I thought the world was great but too big. I thought the shrines were mostly good but aesthetically repetitive and too great in number.

Everything I love about this game had some drawbacks on the other hand and I feel like it's hard to gauge right this minute how it falls into my overall series ranking. All the great things they did here, and there's a lot of that, I fully believe could easily be improved upon and refined. That's the mark of a brilliant, risky, but flawed game.

But that's a good thing, it took risks and some paid off. It laid the foundation very well for the series going forward and also how it can be even better. Aonuma is right when he says they can do better, but they still made what I believe to be one of the greatest games of all time.

So I don't want to jump to any specific conclusions as far as where it would be on my top ten. I'll let it sink in and see what the DLC offers. But yeah, uh, wow. Absolutely incredible. It's Zelda and that's how it should be. I'll just leave it at "another great Zelda" for now.

10/10

Still like a lot about Skyward Sword more :p

I love how the game actually keeps track of individual Yiga members you encounter. I fought this one woman who spoke like thiiiiis twice in the space of an hour - and the dialogue reflected the reunion.

Shoot them with an ancient arrow...

... They won't come back.

Someone lady ask me if I knew her son, I said no.

I talk to her immediately again and said yes, she said to herself "you just told me you haven't"

Thanks. I actually had that armor and had the faerie in the pond upgrade it 3 times. Not quite getting one shot, but the enemies with the lightning make short work of me.

I finally got to the infamous constellations shrine. Fuck that was awesome. You can definitely over-think the shit out of it, even though is pretty simple.

I did this the other day and my jaw dropped in a weird mixture of shock and laughter. Unless you are zapping those Yiga into the Ancient Dimension or something, this Zelda game straight up lets you murder people.

I was unaware that this was considered "infamous." Are people really having trouble with it? Seem'd pretty straightforward.

Absolutely agreed, it's my favorite moment so far (
Beat the Gerudo and Zora divine beasts, haven't traveled too far north yet
).
I just flew after it using the glider and the wind it caused just carried me along, so much beautiful scenery from that vantage point

Thats what I really loved about the encounter.
It wasn't just limited to the summit, you had to fly all over the Mt. Lanayru area to finish the job.
Chasing after an
infected dragon
during a snowstorm in the middle of the night while gliding thousands of feet in the air. I cant believe that even 120 hours later the game still has these moments left in store.

They just add to that "yeah, I can do that" nature of the game. They're usually planted in locations where it... makes sense, for one reason or the other.

I really wish there was a sit option instead of just crouching to really complete that mood. This game really lets me live out adventure fantasies where you explore the world and brave against the elements to survive.

What's the strongest weapon you've found?

For me the record is held by a Savage Lynel Crusher with Attack Up +23 for a whopping 101 attack

Wow. I thought my 99 atk Savage Lynel Crusher is already the strongest.

And deprive myself of my "Snarky Link feigning ignorance at the Yiga shenanigans" headcanon? Never.

But wait, does the ancient arrow actually finish them for good?

Anything except guardians get dissolved with ancient arrows.

Yes!! I actually thought that subconsciously but failed to put into words. That would be really great.
