Be honest how many arrows did it take you to
shoot that one really far away Korok seed balloon
in Hyrule Castle? I think I spent 80.

I need to read up on where to find that Korok fucker again, I actually have quite a few seeds now

There is a serious problem with the constant rain in this game. It seems just as quick as the rain goes away, it would start up again usually 10 minutes later. It became increasingly frustrating as it hampers you from climbing or doing side quests with the blue flame. Within the span of 20 minutes it must have stopped and started raining a good 5 times or so!

"hmm how do I get in this shrine
surrounded by thorny vines, I wonder if I can burn them
?"

"yes, yes I can"

love how little logic things just simply work in this.
If it's the one I'm thinking of it was also surrounded by water so I used an ice pillar to jump over the vines.

How do you find out the total number of Korok seeds you have? All I see is what I currently have in inventory and I've lost count of how many I've spent upgrading storage space.
As much as climbing everything is fun, you almost need to force yourself to stay on paths sometimes because there's some interesting designed encounters in a lot of places. It's a weird push and pull.
I totally missed Goron City the first time because I climbed my way to Death Mountain instead of following the path.

hmm would that work? it was up a hill, and those ice blocks arent that high?

but yes, just the fact that a lot of the situations have multiple solutions is a testament to the game's design. Im actually super into making ice block bridges now, fuck swimming. Im iceman baby.

I jumped off a small cliff nearby and flew over the thorns using the glider.

Never even considered either of those options.

As I was saying :3

so i'm about 70 hours in. so far i've gotten 117 shrines and 2 divine beasts. most big sidequests are done. the plan is to defeat the remaining shrines and quests and take care of a few monsters.

for hyrule castle, i've been there a couple of times. each one was an infiltration mission. however for the final confrontation i'm going to storm the gates in a no-fucks frontal attack. seems like the endgame should support that strategy.

aka "Goron strategy"

loading screen, upper right, has current orbs, total shrines, total seeds, etc...

Just went to the Rito village (after 85+ hours of gameplay) and damn....

Dragon Roost Island
slow remix is the best song of the game so far for me.

88 shrines done, all the beasts, stormed the castle with master sword and handed Ganon his ass. 57 hours 16 minutes.

I think I've had my fill of the game. Don't see myself going back to search for the other shrines, I looked through most areas on the map enough that I'd just be reading the locations from a guide.

Might come back and get them all down the line when I get a switch and probably BOTW again.

i chose to "pull the trigger" and go for the castle after 100 hours played, 114 or so shrines.

The boss fight
looked amazing but wasn't all that challenging
.

Is there
even a way you can fail the "demon beast ganon"
portion? ... is it
timed or something like that? The thing's so fucking huge and slow, i never even got hit once.

i'll definitely come back to the game for some further clean up and some more sidequests... in handheld mode - i wanna go back to Horizon on the big TV now :)

I managed to let it
kick me and my horse in the face both times I fought it.

Didn't die though lol.

Not there yet, but have you tested with the
ancient bow
?

Is upgrading an armor set recommended before taking on the final boss?

i went in with 20 20 12 Barbarian.

Which helped a lot with the guards in Hyrule castle. The final boss was a real piece of cake. If you know how to
reflect Guardian beams
that is. Also, the 3-arrow-shooting bows that lynels drop + lightning arrows make everything super easy...

103 is my final number for shrines I'm able to find without looking anything up. At this number and spent a good 90 minutes going to every conceivable place I could either get another quest or just locate another one and got nothing. At this point I've pretty much seen it all and I always find myself remembering I already explored this place at a certain point. If I only needed 2 or 3 more I might try to soldier on without any guides or anything but with 17 left, forget that. I'll be here forever.

If anything I'd reccomend going in with weak armor to up the challenge.
I may consider that approach.

I'm working on crafting Ancient armor, only one piece left to make. I haven't encountered a single Lynel yet though.

uhm, where do i see my percentage? did i miss it during the credits? - back at the main menu and hitting continue shows me a save from 20 minutes ago

Just finished the Kass quests -

Met him at Rito village and he played his final song for me. Definite feels were had. I was standing around for about a minute just taking in my surroundings, listening to the song he plays when you're not talking to him, when I turned around and all his children had turned up, and began singing along with him. 10/10. Loved this character. Completed the game earlier. I think standing here next to Kass and his kids, is where I'll save now and leave Link after my long playthrough

i went back
after i defeated the bird dungeon and used the power...
didn't even think about fire....

Finished the Rito section and was pretty disappointed by it. I really like the design in general around the village, the rock formations and the giant lake is really nice. But the village itself is extremely boring with its layout. They wanted to do a vertical village setup, which is neat in itself, but executed in it the most vanilla way possible. I don't want to compare it to something like Frontier Village in Xenoblade, because this location doesn't require a village of that size. But that village twisted in on itself in interesting ways, and you get a real sense of height. This village was just a giant staircase.

It feels like they cut something from the game right here during development. Gave off vibes of The Wind Waker when you get the third orb back at Outset. Looking back on it, the actual Zora's Domain section was fairly short, relative to the wandering around, but it kinda gets away with it because: 1) you get character establishment with the prince on the way there, 2) a little bit of drama when you arrive, and 3) a sidequest. This section, they built a giant snowy mountain range there and didn't even use it. Puzzling.

Just finished the forest as well, still have the desert and Death Mountain left. Looking like the Rito got the short end of the stick for this game.

Question that I'm sure has been asked repeatedly. It relates to what I think is a late game weapon.

Can you break the Master Sword?

Rito really did. Death Mountain fares a bit better but not by much.

I found this gem on tumblr. I'm dying

I think we can all agree gerudo is the best area, the buildup is the longest and the boss is the hardest. Also bananas.

Rito is a joke in comparison. Beat the entire thing in 40 minutes.

So very early in the game, I stumbled upon some ruins that were covered
in malice
and has a
lynel
patrolling the grounds. I immediately decided I shouldn't be there and took off.

I didn't mark it on the map though, and now I can't remember where it was. I vaguely think it was between Central Hyrule and Dueling Peaks region, and maybe near a lake, but I cannot find it. It's driving me crazy.

It definitely feels like they had no time to give the same level of polish to all the regions. I'd rank them as Gerudo>Zora>Goron>Rito as far as development, sidequests and story goes.

On another note, I always forget when fighting that I can just do this:
Star_Platinum_Time_Stop.gif

though it's kinda cheap...

That sounds like the Coliseum Ruins, at the center of Aquame Lake.

I had no idea Fairies respawned...
I would reset every time I used one due to falling or something stupid.

Ya they do. But I think the game keeps track of how many you have because I can't seem to ever have more than 6.

So this is very late, but there is a trick to this. The game will not let fairies respawn if you have 3 in your inventory. However, if you go to a Great Fairy Fountain and hold enough fairies to get down to only having two in your inventory, the game will spawn more. Then you stop holding the fairies and go get the fairies that spawned.

I have tried this and it does work. I think 11 would be the maximum number that you could get this way.

I agree with that order although the differences in the last 3 are small enough that you could probably make an argument for Goron over Zora. Especially in comparison to the huge gulf in quality between Gerudo and everything else.

I just stormed Hyrule Castle for the first time, got the final memory, plus got all shrines and the armor set, and I am pretty sure I took my best gaming screenshot ever a few minutes ago:

Also the final memory....

I didn't like Fi much but I LOVED how they added her to the final memory. Same sound and even music cue. Made perfect sense. Also, Nintendo had the balls to "kill" Link if at least for 1 minute

Okay this is driving me nuts:

do the metal plates that make an 'X' with a painted bullseye do anything? Korok puzzle?
They are
shrine puzzles
, usually (or always) linked to
Kass, the awesome bird guy with the accordion
.

I'm pretty sure that they're not related to
Kass
. I found a few on
Death Mountain
and I don't believe that there are any
Kass' Shrine Quests
there. At least not according to
his journal
.
