The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT2| It's 98 All Over Again

I think the game is better if you beat it before doing all the shrines. It becomes too grindy and loses the exploration feeling that the beginning of the game has and Ganon is way too easy when you are at full power.

103 is my final number for shrines I'm able to find without looking anything up. At this number and spent a good 90 minutes going to every conceivable place I could either get another quest or just locate another one and got nothing. At this point I've pretty much seen it all and I always find myself remembering I already explored this place at a certain point. If I only needed 2 or 3 more I might try to soldier on without any guides or anything but with 17 left, forget that. I'll be here forever.

There are some shrine quests that don't unlock until you clear the divine beasts. Not sure if this makes a difference.

Can anyone help with the
seven heroines
shrine? I know each
ball matches a statue, but I can only find 6 of the balls. I have the one the statue is holding, but I have been wandering round for about 30 mins now pulling my hair out.
I know this is going to be really obvious when I see it, but it is killing me. I think it is the one with the
big circle on it.

Climb high up on a statue and look down with Magnesis on, it should be easier to spot, but it took me a while to find them too.

I think the game would have benefit a lot by adding MORE memories to discover...
i mean there are a lot of places that are there but at best have a korok seed or two..wouldn't be great to go there and find some other memories that flesh up the story a bit?
they wouldn't need to be about link and zelda like the other memories in the game..just a bit more interactions between
the various champions
,a bit of introspection on who was link before
being assigned as zelda's bodyguard

it would have rewarded exploration in a way that's different than a korok seed or a shrine.

I had this same issue, I walked away for a moment and when I came back it was in plain sight and I was unsure how I could have missed it. Makes me think there might be a loading error with one of the balls?

Just had a genuine laugh out loud moment.
Asking Paya what her story is after completing the shrine quest with the orb thing. Impa doesn't give a single fuck.

It would be cool if the game allowed you to play some of the memories in the past. Similar to Witchers beginning with Ciri. It would make the story much more interactive and frankly, much better. Shame that they didn't include something like that imo.

Also the final memory....

I didn't like Fi much but I LOVED how they added her to the final memory. Same sound and even music cue. Made perfect sense. Also, Nintendo had the balls to "kill" Link if at least for 1 minute

Yeah I fucking LOVED that subtle little detail as well. It's great finally being able to
have Zelda games I personally played when they released referenced in current Zelda games as opposed to the older classics.

Well there it is! I warped back to the nearest tower and glided back down. As soon as I landed the shrine appeared. Looks like there was an error loading one of the balls. Thanks for your help.

eh, Ganon and the castle is too easy regardless. The thing is even if you go for a more natural path to ganon without doing everything the dungeons and other "core" story stuff is too flimsy to be all that satisfying either.

Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered a bunch of times over a variety of threads but I own a physical copy of BotW and I want to go digital so I always have this game on my Switch. Does my physical copy save game carry over to a digital copy of the game?

Thanks

I guess you're right. The game reminded me of MGS 5 in that it seems amazing when you start playing because it's obviously really well made and the core mechanics are really fun but it gets very repetitive the more you play. It's obviously much better than MGS because they were able to actually finish the game but I got the same vibes.

- Dungeons should be like Zelda 1 and 2: 1) dangerous, with tons of tough enemies you never encounter in the overworld (and, no, that doesn't mean mini Guardians); and 2) complex, with maze-like corridors and hidden rooms that really encourage you to get and use the map or check out every nook and cranny..

I'm in complete agreement, here. Your other statements and remaking the original bosses also sounds far superior to what we got.

Think this is the only game where I've felt compelled to do all side quest stuff. Trying to get all the shrines cause I reallllly want whatever armor reward.

Rain is dumb. It's a cute idea until you're stuck at the bottom of a canyon with a river running through it and literally have to just stand there waiting for it to stop because there is nothing you can do

I was surprised by how hard a couple of shrines near hatena village/town were. It's early in the game and I've put all orbs into hearts so far but still getting one shotted and eating half my supplies.

Is there a general tactic for hearts vs stamina? Feels like I absolutely want hearts right now and I'm not yet struggling for stamina but don't want to paint myself into a corner.

One last thing
eventide
island - is that doable at any level or should I come back later? The way it's set up seems like a fun thing to try almost at any point

You cannot be killed in a single hit from full health, and once you figure out how to make +hearts food (anything named "hearty"), the needs for hearts drops substantially. I played the game with 3 hearts until I maxed stamina because I exploited the immortality on "full hearts", and its super easy to replenish 2.5 hearts to keep yourself constantly in an "immortal" state to single hits and until you have a ton of armor and 10+ hearts most hard stuff is still going to instagib you so why bother.

Its better to build stamina early on as it lets you explore/traverse farther and faster.

I got to about 8 hearts before i bothered getting another piece of stamina, i then traded that back for a heart and then only bothered getting it back again once i had like 13 or 14 hearts

Anyone know what to do at the statue in the jungle that has a leaf on a pedestal? Feels like there is something to it but I can't figure it out.

Get a few hearts first to increase your survivability and just get a stamina upgrade every three or four upgrades or so (stamina maxes out with 10 upgrades anyway, so if you go for all 120 shrines, only 1/3 of your spirit orbs will go into stamina).

It doesn't matter that much though. There's a cheap way to respec your character fairly early in the game and you're going to need 13 hearts for a pretty important quest somewhere further down the line (no hurry though; I guess most players will do that part after they've passed the halfway mark) and that's pretty much it.

~75 hours in and I just finished the last of the four dungeons. Looks like I made the right choice and saved the best for last:
the whole Gerudo questline was so damn good. The first one I did was the Zora area and after the Goron and Rito areas I was worried I started with the best, but the Gerudo area managed to top the Zora one. The town is so lively and fun with a great variety of people. Infiltrating the Yiga clan was fun but a bit too short and way too easy. I never came close to getting spotted. But after the Rito area it was nice to actually have to do something substantial before reaching the dungeon. I also think the dungeon itself was the best of the four. Thunderblight Ganon himself was tricky at first but once I learned his patterns I demolished him.

Still totally in love with this game. I've got about 36 shrines left to find. Trying to decide if I should
storm the castle
now or wait until I've finished every shrine.

I really wish I could get more than
three stamina wheels.

Finished the game a little earlier. 94 Shrines, 110 or so Korok seeds and all memories.

There's a lot I want to say about the game, but overall, it was a fantastic experience and was a genuine 10/10 experience for me. I'd have to think a bit more later where exactly it ranks among my favorite Zeldas, but I do genuinely think it's one of the best games in the franchise and I hope it's fondly remembered for years to come (especially after Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword's kinda mixed reception). In a year with fantastic games like Nier Automata and Yakuza 0, Breath of the Wild's my game of the year at the moment (and I really only see Persona 5 maybe taking over it). I'll probably replay the game some time (I do this with every 3D Zelda lol). Maybe when all the DLC comes out; looking forward to it. :o

Cook 4 Iron Shrooms and some raw meat. Now the game is crazy easy.

HEY LISTEN! I just had the BEST idea for hard mode.

You know how your horse is pretty damn useless because Link can traverse the land much more freely and can fast travel and can carry a U-Haul's worth of crap on his person at all times so fuck that horse?

Well... make it so that Link can carry as many weapons and shields and armor as he can right now, but he can only carry a very limited amount of supplies, parts and food. If your horse isn't nearby (as in, you call for it and it doesn't show), you won't be able to have access to the lion's share of your stuff.

Yes, this is the best idea ever, agree with me.

Final boss stuff

Yeah I got bored and tested it, unless I'm a really bad shot with regular arrows the twilight bow from the smash zelda amiibo is the only other bow in the game that can damage the final form of ganon's weak points and deliver the final blow. I guess it's because it fires light arrows as well.

Pretty interesting

Is there anything I need to do Ganon? I did the 4 beasts already. Anything essential or can I just run in there and cut his head off?

Nah you're good to go, you could literally even go without doing anything lol, I personally wish I had done it earlier because I was waayyy toO strong when I fought him lol.

You could go get the master sword I guess

yo why is everyone in this game so horny for Link

I thought it was just the great fairies that likes Link considering how much more physical they get as you upgrade. But when Is did that Lonely Arrow Girl mission I could see that I was wrong. Lol.

And there are probably much more than I realized as well

I actually enjoyed MGSV all the way to 100% without ever feeling burned out or bored with it. I can't say the same about BotW which pretty much got boring for me after the second dungeon. MGSV was at least super fun to just play while the camera, z-targeting, and the games refusal to let me use the gear I want when I want to just kind of ruined Zelda for me. I also feel like MGSV had a much better payoff then Zelda did but I'm undoubtedly going to be alone on that one. Zelda felt way more unfinished to me than MGSV did to be honest.

As far as the big open world games that I recently played goes I have to rank them as MGSV > Xenoblade X > BotW.

I enjoyed MGSV for the main story and 100% completion.
I loved Xenoblade X story content more than MGSV but going for 100% was freaking awful.
BotW for the opening 100 hours or so smoked them both but the last 100 hours or so left me cold to the main story stuff and the side stuff. Well, aside from the NPC sidequests that is.

If I remember correctly there is another one on top of a statue

What I did was use stasis so everything intractable highlights so I could just spot all the orbs.

I think I'm starting to come around on this game. Accidentally stumbled onto Eventide Island and I loved it. Had a very unusual boss fight that made me smile (not the boss himself/itself but how I had to fight it). Found and tamed a new horse, got more shrine orbs and such and the game is starting to feel more like Zelda and less like a generic wasteland that the opening hours gave me.

I'm in two minds about this. One the one hand, it's a good quest to save for late in the game when you're all powerful, because then the contrast is especially big (and at that point many other quests are getting easy so having a challenging one left is nice).

On the other hand, Eventide isn't that hard once you have a bunch of hearts and (especially)
the special powers you get after beating each divine beast
