I'm an idiot. After ~90 hours I just now realized that the 3 Apple trees in a row you see occasionally in the world are Korok puzzles.

I honestly thought they were just a way to landmark otherwise nondescript areas of the map.
!!

I've always eyed them suspiciously but never figured how to trigger anything. Don't tell me though!

I was actually going to ask this too. Will there be a pretty clear way to get this item? I've just kinda been exploring at my own pace, but I just want to be reassured that I won't miss my chance to get it haha
It's in an important land mark place that you will most likely go to unless you actively avoid it. Once there you get a cinematic about it as well. The only way to really miss it is by just heading straight to Hyrule castle disregarding most of the world. So I Would't worry about it.

I looked around the ones up on a mountain and couldn't find anything. What are you supposed to do, pick all the apples?

Was playing last night kind of late and the last thing I wanted to check out was a non-descript island behind the shrine I just beat. Set sail on my raft and land on the beach of....Eventide Island.

Holy shit what a cool gameplay twist.

End up playing another 2 1/2 hours and staying up way too late, but had to see it through. Felt like a slap in the face when I saw my prize for surviving was
a measly 300 rupees
, but I still would have loved it even if I didn't get anything. This game is amazing.

I looked around the ones up on a mountain and couldn't find anything. What are you supposed to do, pick all the apples?

You have to
find the tree that has more apples than the other two, then pick or shoot the apples off of it so all three have the same number of apples.

Do you mean the
Gerudo lady in Goron City
? I stopped at the part where
she wants to buy 10 diamonds off me for 500 rupees over market price. I'm not sure if I want to fork that over since diamonds are so rare, and getting 500 rupees is relatively easy.

They're not that rare. You can get one for 10 luminous stones, as many as you want. And those are easy to find.

Call me dumb but after roaming nearly the entire world and still not completed the game, I go crazy when I hear the "hoo hoo" bird like noise. I look around to see where it's coming from and don't find anything. Anyone else know about this?

Anyone else think that one bird sound sounds like the bird is saying "Breath of the WILD"?

can you get all 3 of these
jewelries from the lady in gerudo after giving her 10 flint
, or you have to pick one and thats it?

Doing the
Zelda's memory quest
is a lot easier than I was led to believe by this thread. But it's only because
I get to the tower before I speak with the painter. That way when he tells me the land mark it's at, I can look it up on the map and just go there.

I looked around the ones up on a mountain and couldn't find anything. What are you supposed to do, pick all the apples?

If you look at the trees, there are two that only have one apple in the same branch and a third one with several apples, you have to pick the apples from the third one and leave just one apple to match the other two trees.

Same.

Still seeing new shit this far in is great. Just did a long shrine in Goron region and the solution for the last bit before the spirit orb made me smile. Such a simple yet beautiful solution that took me like 5-10 minutes to work out.

Love this game. Possibly my GOAT.

Was this the shrine you get to via
stasis mine cart?

If so, that was one of our favorite shrines so far. We just came across it a couple days ago and the length and complexity of it made it very satisfying to complete. It was the most dungeon-y the game has felt so far.

I'm coming to see how getting the last chest in a shrine is like getting a green star in Mario 3D World, or any tricky collectible in a Nintendo game - these last chests seem to represent a bonus puzzle essentially. We did a shrine last night just north of the central marshlands called
Speed of Light
that seemed to have several clever solutions possible for the main puzzle, and an especially tricky one to figure out for the chest. Really satisfying stuff.

Guys, is there anything even remotely resembling a breadcrumb quest or a hint or nudge towards
the Master Sword
? Or am I supposed to stumble upon it on my own while exploring? If the former question is a yes then how am I supposed to encounter it?
several. characters mention its location... including a guy that if I remember correctly gives you the wrong location.. or maybe I misremember what he said to me.

So, beyond just getting the Sheikah Slate key items right at the start, how do you guys feel about them as a replacement of the especialized dungeon items?

One the one hand, they serve a more general purpose by shaping the environment, but I feel they end up being restricting by not going far enough. Magnesis probably stands as the best utilized by having you push and pull objects, use weights and dig objects. Stasis is either freeze or to shoot objects and there's rarely any practical use in the overworld. It's a cool way to expand the physics system but it falls shorts in so many way. Cryonis is my least favorite since there's barely any interesting applications. It makes bodies of water completely pointless since you can just cross over them by slowly raising pillars. This one is grossly undercooked and makes the rest look even worse due to their limited numbers. Obviously, Bows are still used extensively as usual, although ice and shock arrows are pretty much missing in action, with bomb arrows seeing barely a peep. Boomerangs are also never used in an interesting manner which is a shame and korok leaves serve no real purpose due to cryonis easily replacing its function.

I'm torn, since on the one hand, I greatly appreciate slimming down our equipment to just essentials. Twilight Princess was ridiculous, but Wind Waker stands as having a fantastic set of items that are all multi purpose and used in interesting ways, and while this game has most of those items, they have to completely design around them. Climbing anywhere, the design ethos of this game is great and allows for fun 360 degree freedom but I was excited to the idea of having to cross logs as bridges by bringing them down, cross rivers through rafts, have horses jump fences or other smart path creation is completely ignored due to how strong the paragliding and how strong climbing is.

Ah! Great news! That's more like it!

remember that if you have a spear, claymore or a bow out, you won't raise your shield.

I think you are underestimating some obscure uses of both Cryosis and the Korok Leaf.

Cryosis can be used as protective barriers during combat shrines or other battles with shallow water. They are also platforms to transverse waterfalls. You can even use them to single out items dropped in the water. I used it recover the orb I throwed into the sea during the Eventide Island. One hidden use is to turn Guardians upside down so you can gather materials.

Korok Leaf isn't completely made absolute due do Cryosis because it's still much faster to use a raft. Additionally, they are the only item besides Arrows which synergises with Octo Balloons. If you want to fly a bomb up and away, they are the only way to do it. I personally like to freeze enemies with the Ice Rod and blow them down to shatter. Or simply throw them off cliffs in the Canyon areas of the game.

Overall, I welcome the changes they made to the items progression system. I enjoy facing every single shrine knowing I have all necessary tools to succeed (except Arrows most of the time). I hope they diversify the weapons even more in the next installation. I've already made a long post about how Shields could be explored to become more unique but I think this applies to the weapons. I want more weapons that feel special and have utility purposes (Korok Leaf, Elemental Rods, Guardian Shield).

I feel like I'm doing something wrong, I have 16 Korok seeds total, I know of obvious ways to find the Koroks, under rocks, those magnetic puzzles etc, What should I look for?

just for curiosity, how do you guys completed the shrine quest
in the mushroom Valley where it's always raining?
I did it by
attaching balloons to the orbs and then using stasys on them while mid air and high enough to clear the wall, then hitting them so that the kinetic force would throw them on the platform... but i Don't know if that's the intended method or there a are other ways.

group of rocks in patterns, trees stumps with a leaf on them and pinwheels

Circles of flowers in the water -dive through them. Small windmills - run up to them and then shoot the targets. Incomplete stone circles - complete them by placing a missing rock.

The Thundra Plains one? There was
a sufficiently high mound of rock that the balls could be carried to, then launched onto the main platform through just stasis.

A lot better than the plain blue tunic. Wearing that thing 'IRL' wouldn't be such a breeze for longer timespans. It looks to have chainmail beneath the outer layers. Gets kind of lost seeing how nimble Link still moves.

I like the champion tunic but it looks so plain in comparison. Thats why I cant go back to some of the old tunics. They just look so basic and plain with very little detail. Twilight Princess tunic is rendered fantastic in this game however.

Please dye the set D:

I like the default colors :(

But I'll see what looks good. I died the sheikah set dark gray and it looks <beedle>woooooooow</beedle>.

I like this set too. The tunic is great but I especially love the hood. So bad ass. Wish it had a set bonus. I'm still going to max it out.

I love the details on it. So many patterns and materials and textures. It really looks like an adventurers getup.

The hood is amazing and going forward Link should get an iconic hood instead of the pointy elf hat.

It's my only complaint about the game so far. I like the tools you get, and I find magnesis incredibly satisfying to use and I understand why they did it this way. They want you to be able to go anywhere you want right from the start and tackle the "dungeons" in any order.

The thing is I don't think anyone would have complained if there were some areas that you had to return back to once you got say, a hookshot or something. The stamp system even encourages you to mark locations to return back to later. Keep the base powers and have each dungeon introduce a new item that works in combination with the base powers. For example, hookshot targets that need to be stasis'd in place for you to get where you need. Very basic but just a general idea. Have the dungeons focus on one item in unique ways with the base powers so you can still go in any order you need.

Also
A single flower that disappears when you touch it and another appears close by. Repeat until a Korok appears. Alternatively the same type of flower appears in bunches of 1-5. Touch each bunch from smallest to largest.

the freaking
eventide
island I died at the last
orb
... RAGE!
but i used static + stone to kill a
Hinox
so there's that...
round 2 here i come

big tress sometimes habe a big rock on top of them
Melting big blocks of ice in some regions
There are fallen trees that are hollow and in the inside is a chestnut that you can break
Metalic rock chained to something
Hidden behind breakable rocks

If they're going to keep this template going forward this is one of the main things I want to see then try. That and having bosses be more puzzle based than they really are in this game.

I JUST found out about that by accident right now after 100+ hours played. I'm a bit disappointed I didn't figure that out before

Well then you're doing something wrong, yes. Look for these obvious places? Don't know what else to tell you. The peak of a hill or mountain will oftentimes be inhabited by Koroks.

Lol, don't worry about it. I didn't get that until my second playthrough and my first one took me around 120 hours. Man, this game...

These fairy upgrade animations are getting increasingly personal. I'm starting to get worried.

Yeah, I've seen up to a third upgrade, and it seemed like it was bordering on sexual assault. Idk if you can upgrade past three times, and even if you could, I'm not sure I want to find out what's next!

Edit: I'm kidding. Of course I want to find out! :3

Considering the other puzzles it should have been so obvious and I managed to try everything else but the obvious thing. Lol!

Just wait until the
fourth upgrade.

Also climb
lots of trees (usually bigger ones). Sometimes there will be a rock at the top of the tree. There is always a Korok in there.

So I'm in the
Yiga clan hideout right now, and holy shit WTF at those guys oneshotting you with that slash.

It's nice to get into a tough area again because it had been getting a little too easy before, but I'm surprised that
attack goes through all fairies, armor, Mipha's Grace, and so on.

Yeah that caught me off guard the first time I went through there.

I wonder how long until Kotaku writes a serious article on link being violated.

Dished out some cash to get the (armor spoils)
Ancient Armor
set. Now the games feels too easy :|

And I don't want to use lower armored clothes because that's dumb.

I feel like I have been playing this game for ages. Just spent 30 mins cooking random stuff. Still haven't beaten the story though. Tons of shrines and seeds left.
