Thursday.

Seeing as how reviews for Logan, Beauty and the Beast, and other critically-acclaimed movies arrived early, that could be an ominous sign for this.

Yeah, it's worrying me too. At the very least it suggests that marketing are uncertain about the reception it's going to get.

My local Alamo Drafthouse is screening this movie to the public tomorrow, so it's weird we can watch the film before reviews go up. I got free passes for it tomorrow, so I won't be upset if it ends up sucking.

I hope I can see it on Thursday, usually I don't go into a movie during opening week, but I am really looking forward to this one

First movie in a while that I'm seeing opening day.

I'm hoping for the best. I've avoided watching the original as to not cloud my judgement of this movie.

I am just hoping it wont be bombing as hard as Mass Effect Andromeda...

MEA is the 3rd biggest game in the UK. so, I doubt that's bombed. I know this game has a boycott from some people who refuse to see it because of the white washing.

but that's not the issue. I could not believe how bad it looked. Anyhow, the reviews. Can't wait for the reviews.

doing it wrong. no no no

It's going to be awful and i'll watch it to see just how bad it really is.

Those are both surprisingly positive reviews.

Hm.

I was going to wait until I could rent it, but I may end up seeing it this weekend.

His tweets have made me hopeful too based on how he's framing it:

I don't know if this is going to be a popular view, but I thought GHOST IN THE SHELL was good. Really good.

Lol

Oh good, more people asking how much Paramount paid for my GHOST IN THE SHELL review. Well, I *did* just buy a house.

Empire's Emma Thrower enthusiastically agreeing:

"YES, Guy. Oh, I LOVED it, Guy. I think not seeing the anime gave me a nice advantage going in. Can't wait to see that, now.

Clint Mansell and Lorne Balfe, whose stylish, techno-ominous score is mostly content to skulk in the background, only daring to reference Kenji Kawai's unshakeable theme for the 1995 film over the closing credits.

How stupid do you have to be to not use this during the Making of Cyborg sequence? Especially when the already showed that scene with the classic theme music.

Seems Ghost in the Shell is pulling a Tron Legacy among reviewers:
Tron Legacy boasts dazzling visuals, but its human characters and story get lost amidst its state-of-the-art production design.

I was expecting something harsher considering the embargo. I was going to see it regardless but even more psyched now. The movie looks gorgeous.

Seems like there's 6 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes right now. 4 positive, 2 negative.

Kinda funny how a couple of those positive blurbs could easily come from negative reviews.

It's the shiniest of kit; whether the emotions are stirred is another matter.

A here-and-now valentine to what design wizardry Hollywood can pull off in 2017. At the same time, it does so in service of a tired tale full of repurposed visual tricks, storytelling clichés and big-studio concessions.

How they failed emphasising the beautiful music the series is known for is mind boggling. Clint on autopilot?

Those reviews came earlier than expected, I thought the embargo lifted on the 30th, still good to have them now though.
