The guy who hates immigrants... will emigrate?

He doesn't hate them, he LOVES them. They're the gift that keeps on giving if you are a leech like him; point a finger at an immigrant who works and say "They're stealing YOUR job!", point one at an immigrant who can't yet work and its "They're scrounging off the state!", any of them try to integrate and they're "Committing genocide to our culture!", recluse themselves from the public and they're "racist and potentially a terrorist!".

If immigration were to decline in any situation where Farage was still operating with UKIP, he'd shit himself. He has NOTHING else to give but, 'Them foreigners, eh?'.

Saw people say that Sky News put up a two year countdown clock. I thought they were joking. They weren't.

I believe the argument is "you lost, get over it".

The UK will be long dead before the EU. Only people buying in to the daily mail bullshit believe the EU is about to fundamentally fail.
I'm not sure it's just a Daily mail fantasy. The very pro Euro BBC ran a very interesting programme about it not long ago.
If MLP wins the French election, things could get a little uncomfortable in Brussels. I very much doubt that the Union will collapse , rather loosen it's rules and maybe take a few steps back towards its original trading ideals and away from a more centralised EU government.

Fucking hell. Passports and death.
Honestly if most of these things happened I would just leave this country. I can't believe these people are so thick. Thankfully most people who voted to Leave are quite old so... well, I don't want to say it because it seems cruel but, y'know.

It honestly doesn't surprise me though. The boomers and the older parts of Gen X have seen a lot of change and they've become so reactionary they're tarnishing the great strides which their generation(s) have made. Maybe they always were like this but many of them couldn't be bothered to vote until they got older. I

I was helping my Mum pop up our new fences the other day (she voted remain with all her friends because they decided to cancel out their husband's votes and let their kids have the actual say) and our Polish neighbour was helping us sort it all out and of course him, my brother and I were all measuring and weighing in metric but her and her brother were using imperial. They referred to it as 'English' which is a weird way of viewing it as nobody is taught it anymore. Probably because metric makes a lot more bloody sense.

Oh well.

Farage is a white supremacist. He only hates certain types of immigrants.

Hence why he's married to a white-skinned, blond-haired German.

#Übermensch

She kicked him out didn't she?
He taunted her about the wars or something and eventually she had enough of his bullshit during the referendum.

I try to avoid Farage stuff so it's possible I have it completely wrong.

Good luck with the negotiations Britain! I hope our negotiators take a hard stance and will bleed you guys dry for everything you still owe us, no nice cuddly deals, if you want to leave, fine, but you have to accept the consequences. It's unfortunate that will also hurt the people that voted remain, but there is no real way around that.

EU Parliaments draft framework for the response has leaked

a future relationship agreement between the European union and the UK “can only be concluded once the United Kingdom has withdrawn from the EU”.

there may be a transitional deal for after 2019 to ensure that custom controls and barriers on trade are not enforced on day one of Brexit, but that these arrangements should not exceed three years and will be “limited in scope as they can never be a substitute for union membership”.

the European court of justice will be responsible for settling any legal challenges during the transition period.

the UK will be able to revoke its notification of article 50 but this must be “subject to conditions set by all EU-27 so they cannot be used as a procedural device or abused in an attempt to improve the actual terms of the United Kingdom’s membership”.

should Britain seek to negotiate any free trade deals with other countries while it is still an EU member state, there will be no future discussion of a deal with the union.

there will be no special deal for the City of London “providing UK-based undertakings preferential access to the single market and, or the customs union”.

the cut-off date after which EU nationals coming to the UK lose the automatic right to residency in the UK must not be before 29 March 2019, when the country leaves the EU, or the British government will be breaking EU law.

Britain should pay all its liabilities “arising from outstanding commitments as well as make provision for off-balance sheet items, contingent liabilities and other financial costs that arise directly as a result of its withdrawal”.

the outcome of the negotiations on the future EU-UK relationship “cannot involve any trade-off between internal and external security including defence cooperation, on the one hand, and the future economic relationship, on the other hand”.

https://www.theguardian.com/politic...icle-50-takes-tough-line-on-transitional-deal

The EU parliament has a veto over any deal.

Good riddance. I think history will be on the side of the Brexiteers. The EU is a protectionist racket (the CAP being a prime example of this), and Britain has enough trading power on its own that it doesn't need to be dragged down long-term with the continent.

Curious what does the dark blue passport mean is it just a visual thing or is there anything else to it? But yeah the death penalty.... Wow. When's UK going to colonise again according to those who voted leave.

It doesn't have European Union on it, and like most things about this process it's basically fuelled by old racists nostalgic about the good old days when you called a darkie a darkie, a wog a wog, and your passports were dark blue. We had a empire you know.

You can change the fucking colour of a passport without leaving a trading block, you fucking idiots.

That's like leaving the EU because you want to call a boat "boatymcboatface"

Even as a remainer, this aggressive rhetoric is stupid.

'Bleeding us dry for what we contractually signed up to' implies we were already being bled dry, which is the argument Leavers beat us over the head with as a reason to Leave.

Yes I believe debts do indeed need to be settled but these are nuanced negotiations now - tone matters on both sides.

So basically " We got our county back from ourselves so we should inconvenience everyone just for a colour"

Exactly.

Because nothing screams GREAT British like the navy blue passport. Or sanctioned child abuse in schools. Or the retraction of workers rights. Or murdering of criminals where and when the law finds it convenient.

This goes both ways. I know I keep beating this drum and I truly feel sorry for those voted remain and can't leave, but two years...if you're able to.

People who suggest 'wait and see' only want you to be stuck here and suffer with them when shit hits the fan.

his wife is from germany :/

the hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me

fucking lol

I didnt know this!

Is... is this legit?

Yuck, I had to look it up as I brought it up.

In a statement, Mrs Farage said: "My husband and I have lived separate lives for some years and he moved out of the family home a while ago.

"This is a situation that suits everyone and is not news to any of the people involved."

So, sort of.

There's also a bit of "Christian Britain!" thrown in there with the mention of passport colours referencing that countries religion.

So more racist bullshit basically.

I shouldn't really be surprised. He's pretty typically a cunt to anybody who doesn't agree with him.

I understand a Nationalist party wanting to leave the UK because of self determination.
However i honestly do not understand why they would be leave the UK to join the EU where new member countries will have to adopt the EURO, harmonised interest rates etc.

Let Scotland walk.

They didn't want to leave either. Their hand was forced.

Someone has their lifeboat for the lifeboat.

Berenberg Bank, one of the oldest investment banks in the world, wrote a report for clients ahead of the trigger on how Brexit talks are likely to shape up. In it, the bank posed and answered the question: "Does Brexit create any opportunities for the UK?"

The answer is pretty simple — no. There's nothing that will provide a major positive effect on Britain's economy in the long term.

Tldr: they're going to get reamed in bilateral negotiations with more powerful economies and they can't really deregulate because they have very little regulations already for a developed economy and they can't trade with the EU if they deregulate on key things.

The Telegraph also run with this fantasy daily. That paper has been predicting the end of everything for years.

I am going to start a hedge fund that invests in things the Mail and the Telegraph say will fail. I will make a fecking fortune.

How ironic is it that Greece showed more pragmatism after a nationalistic referendum than the UK.

Greece knows it's even more fucked without the EU. The UK thinks it'll do around as well or better without it (at least a sufficiently high % of people do).

Nothing with being pragmatic, if Greece thought it could leave and do better, it would. Same as any other country.

That's harsher than i expected

To be fair it's just the Parliament who are sidelined to a progress review rule during the actual negotiation. The Commission will probably be a bit more circumspect, but ultimately the first test of any deal will be the EU Parliament so the commission and member states will need bring them along with them.

What's more interesting is the commentary that Barnier himself was involved in the drafting.

There's also a bit of "Christian Britain!" thrown in there with the mention of passport colours referencing that countries religion.

So more racist bullshit basically.

America 2.0

...but the EU passport is burgundy. Like Burgundy. In what is now France. Is Europe somehow not Christian anymore?

Wait, I'm expecting logic and reason here.

...also apparently the Irish Museums Association does have a vacancies page... guess I'm investigating that.

Sounds like there is still a way out (or in :P). It would probably be "you can stay in the EU after all, but forget about some of your special privileges". (a hard sell to leavers, but maybe things will be different in two years).

The only silver lining I see for this is that, as an Irish-American, it would be kind of cool to see a unified Ireland in my lifetime.

Knowing our luck though it would probably just end up being two independent Irelands instead.

Comon guys do you really think professionals know how this situation will turn out. What do professionals know? They're just saying that so that the UK won't take a worse deal. We won you lost get over it.
