So it seems like financing this phone doesn't incur any premiums later on? Anyone else notice this?

Kinda seems like free money; anyone knows of this as some kind of trend, or if Samsung is doing this, ostensibly to reinvigorate the brand?

I typically do a screen protector and case on my phone's, but I've never had an edge style phone. I'm wondering how these are going to work on the S8. I feel like a case would ruin the whole point of the edge screen.

Anyone with an S6 or S7 edge have a case and or screen protector? Can you comment on how it feels?

You mean like financing it interest free? That's been a thing that carriers have been doing for a while.

Super glad I went to see the phones for myself at T-mobile. Held my Note 5 next to them both and I pre-ordered the Arctic Silver S8+ 😉

I have a 6s edge+ and haven't had a screen protector on it for as long as I've owned it. I throw it in my pocket with keys and shit all the time and not a nick or scratch.

That's awesome to hear. Every time I try to go screen protector-less it seems like my phone always gets random hairline scratches over time. Maybe I'll give it another shot with the S8.

Wait so in order to get the $100 package that has the headphones and sd card you need to preorder directly from Samsung's website? You can't do it in-store at a T-Mobile shop?

Tried one today, it might be the nicest phone I've ever held. Really amazing

This. Went to Best Buy to try out the phone and it seems like a huge upgrade from my S6 Edge. Going with the Plus version, just a beautiful screen and not even that much bigger than my S6E.

The Plus is what I prefer, but paying $130 when I'm JoD, I'd rather put that down on the Note 8 is my plan. Preordered the regular 8.

I have an s7 edge and I use the spigen clear bumper case with an armor suit screen protector. The case doesn't block access to the edges and the screen protector is well a screen protector but without the rainbow effect of cheap screen protectors. I'll advise against a tempered glass screen protector if you use a case. The case ends up pushing the edges of the phone with then raise the screen protector creating a gap between the screen and tempered glass screen protector.

Thanks for this. Looks like those Armorsuit screen protectors are cheap on Amazon, so I'll just get it and see how it feels. If I don't like it I can take it off.

So apparently there's a Youtuber who has a preproduction model of the S8+ and has been posting videos on his channel about it. The video that piqued my interest however was his battery test. From what I understand, he was using the international (Exynos) version with the resolution set as FHD+ (what it comes set at out the box). Looks like the battery life will be as good as the S7E, despite being 100mah smaller.

Yeah, the S8+ feels amazing in the hand (pause). The S8 is a joke to me because it feels too small. I wonder what a phone with dual front speakers looks like with these bezels.

Probably the best quick look video I've seen yet:

https://youtu.be/2hpPFnUPk-w

Really interested in the screen area dock feature available in the multitasking options, they demo it @ 8:15 mins in ... Really makes use of the long aspect ratio of the screen.

Personally I'm loving how slimmer the s8 is over the S7 edge. Want

You're right. Everyone who's even remotely interested should watch this vid. Really great video

FHD+ is a bust for most of us with that screen. No way I wouldn't crank that shit up.

Video Recap: Features, features, features. Oh yeah, features. It's really great.

Wait what. If so, that's impressive, QHD is like 70% more pixels than FHD, I'm assuming their + variants aren't too different.

All the physical pixels still have to be on in either resolution so there should not be much difference.
Lowering the resolution to save battery life should mostly show an effect with anything graphics-heavy as rendering in higher resolution will need a lot more power from the chips.

6 hours SOT with that screen is fantastic. I hope it stays that way and the production software doesn't fuck it up.

I was looking at the specs compared to my S6 Edge. Why is pixel density and camera megapixels lower on the S8? Shouldn't they be improved?

Was planning on getting the 10th anniversary iPhone later this year, but my 6 Plus is starting to develop that touch disease crap and is becoming increasingly frustrating to use by the day. Don't think I can hold out until September at this rate. Really starting to eye the S8+...

Playing with demo kiosk, yeah I can't comfortably one hand reach the finger print sensor on the s8+

Unbelievable that they are selling a phone with this. Hope iris scanner is convenient to use.

Maybe the s8 is for you then, but yeah, iris scanner and face recognition is probably what I'll be be using anyway.

So has anyone found any screen protectors for these phones? Preferably the tempered glass screen protectors.

You probably shouldn't hold your breath for any decent tempered glass screen protectors. There were none for the S7E that I've seen that could stick to the screen as well as a tempered glass one for a flat screen. The curved edges just make it hard for it to adhere completely to the entire screen.

Phone looks great. I don't like covers though, so I'm fucked if I get one since it looks like from just one drop the screen will crack.

Btw, can you remove the back cover? Does it support micro sd cards?

How is one-handed usage with the S8+?

The regular S8 isn't as wide as the S7, which is really nice, but I'm afraid it will be hard on the S8+.

Very important as I commute via public transit and I need one hand to hold on.

I mean there is always pop up view. One-hand usage with a full screen app varies from person to person.

im worried about the battery though. s7 already wasn't amazing on that front and s8 got a bigger screen. no one is sure how efficient the 10nm process chipsets is yet. guess we will have to wait for reviews.

The back is non-removable, but you can add a micro sd card. It's in the same spot as the Nano SIM (top of the device, accessible with the use of the tool that comes with it or a paper clip.
