Define faster. Opening 10-12 app at once as fast as possible that you see on YouTube comparison videos? or everyday realistic use case?

Because Pixel is the only phone beside Apple device that I thought is super responsive. It just sticks to my finger.

Don't own one so I can't comment from my experience. Based on impressions I've read from others online, the phone is the real deal.

MFW our smartphones were really CRT TV's...

I'm not completely sold on the bezelless design. It looks super attractive at initial look, but my LG G2 has very small bezels. And I find myself accidentally triggering links or buttons from my gripping fingers at times. Having space where your touch doesn't affect/control the phone is welcome in a handheld device. For TVs, I fully welcome the bezelless future.

My 6 cents.

I'm pissed I can't get Coral Blue. I had it for my Note 7 but since that became a bomb I went to the GS7. I want my phone in blue dammit.

ive been watching quick previews and damn, beautiful phone, dislike the stupid FP reader position but everything else looks great. and it has the latest USF 2.1? nice.

I've been hovering on pulling the trigger on an S8+ all day through the Samsung Upgrade Programme, but every time I'm about to click through I just think "Do I really need it yet?"
I've got a Nexus 6P and I can't say it seems to be showing its age yet, it is only 18 months old after all.

The finger/bezel problem is already solved. Software is able to detect that you are only holding the device.

I have it via work but obviously couldn't say anything about it until reveal. If u guys have any questions feel free to ask

Is the fingerprint sensor position bad on the s8+ with an average adult male left hand?

How snappy or not snappy is the phone compared to pixel or oneplus 3 or other quick 2016 phones?

Does the phone support usb c fast charge standards or only the usual Samsung fast charge?

Probably you'll need to grip the phone around the middle

Should be snappy

QC 2.0 and the Samsung stuff.

Not once have I ever thought my phone should not have bezels anymore. I'd rather see better stylus integration throughout all smartphones than this.

I'm still on a Note 2.

Do people buy these devices outright or finance them through their carrier, generally? I'll need a new phone in about 45 days time (moving to the US) so I'm just curious.

This thing ships 3 days after I leave for a 6 week trip abroad.

Le suck :(

Might get a G6 because of that fact.

Sorry for the inane question but... Much of a difference from the S7 Edge? My wife just upgraded her phone and even asked if a replacement was due soon. They said "this year" with no further detail. Infuriating. Anyway, she took the S7 Edge having been given no indication that a replacement was just around the corner.

I don't even know if I'm asking a question. Annoyed at the Vodafone store though.

Mainly an aesthetic difference.

Crappy situation but shame on you guys I guess for not doing your research and knowing that every april a new samsung galaxy flagship will come out.

As well as, every September is new Samsung Note line and new iPhone. October/November is new Google Nexus devices.

Usually cell phone companies(carriers) do not publish details to their employees until the manufacture announces the date. So that rep proabably didnt know an exact date, but knew of the inevitable galaxy s8 coming out this year.

When i worked at sprint, we wouldn't receive any information until Samsung/apple/etc would announce their phone and date. we would then immediately receive 'training' courses to learn about the phone so we would be prepared to provide troubleshooting steps.

They don't know much tbh and most store sales associates dont stay long. just basing off my national sales support experience yearsss ago.

also, are you in a return window? perhaps you can take advantage of returning and then upgrading when the phone comes out, idk. good luck!

Edit: ^Thanks Samurai. I'll give them a call. She hasn't actually transferred her sim yet but has opened the packaging. I don't know what's wrong with her!

Victim blaming! /s

If I'd known she was gonna get an upgrade I'd have at least googled timescales for replacements. But she was in the store and did ask the question. Oh well, she's not bothered at all. But I feel aggrieved on her behalf as I've always felt the mobile phone market is shady as fuck.

Cheers.

So, I'm giving away my Note 5 as I need something with more storage space and I really like the S8 line so far. I've pre-ordered an S8+ and am looking up impressions still to answer this question. Does anyone know how much bigger the S8+ "feels" compared to the Note 5 in hand? I'd imagine there's a very small sample size of people that may have experience so I'm not sure if anyone can say here at the moment.

- I personally dislike the fingerprint sensor on this phone--it's in an awkward position and you have to completely cover the entire sensor for it to really register. i'm sure it's something people will just get used to though--once your fingers adapt to where it is it shouldn't be a problem. I have small hands and am able to reach it from the position where I would comfortably hold the phone. (on the S8+)

- this is probably the fastest phone i've ever used, but it's been a little while since I played around with something new like the pixel so it's hard to really compare (these phones are getting so quick that the differences are harder and harder to tell w/o juxtaposing em). ultimately: this phone is fast as hell. i carry an s6 active myself so this new guy feels like lightning obv. i can run geekbench on it next week when i'm back in the office

- like a poster above me said, it uses the samsung stuff and QC 2.0. battery life in general isn't something i can really 'test' in my line of work however, as the phone is always connected

How bad is the aspect ratio? Don't you either have to stretch the image or else live with black bars for a bunch of apps?

depends on the app. obv native apps that come with the phone are ready to go, and lots of other apps you'd get from the store support relative scaling so there won't be any black bars. some apps i've downloaded have those big black bars, but it's rare. and of course like every video is gonna have 'em on the side as well. with that being said, browsing with something like chrome is downright awesome... the screen is so tall. neogaf looks great here, lol.

i still maintain that the smaller version is my favorite--it's in fact the best phone i've ever held. only have access to the all black versions, but i would like to see the other colors in person.

Is the phone easy to hold naked? It basically is a bar of soap lol.

S7 edge was pretty much unusable for me without a case.

Have they said anything about which processor the uk will get? Hoping for the exynos like last time.

Just preordered.

So from what I gather once I get the phone I have to do something on Samsungs site to get my free GearVR and 256GB card+Headphones for an additional $100, but the validation and shipping process can take up to 8 weeks...

So I answered my own question and just went to a store and they had an s8 plus demo unit. Compared to my note 5 it's much sleeker and more narrow. It's only very slightly taller. We're talking a miniscule difference at most in height. I was very relieved by that so I'm keeping my plus preorder. I'd suggest people do the same if they're on the fence about the size of it. Just go take a look in person.

I was hoping that the finerprint thing wouldn't be an issue because of the natural placement of the index finger, but that's way too close to the camera. Also, no one has really talked much about certain changes.

Most notably:

1) Removal of heart rate sensor

2) Improved front facing camera

3) Use of UFS 2.1 storage

As good as this looks, just like the S6, I think this is all a set up for would will be a crazy 2018 phone, especially when Apple catches up in a lot of things they've been behind in (screen and design and MAYBE even base storage).

The heart rate sensor wasn't removed.

Well, I ordered a grey 8+ even though I never pre-order phones. The contract on my 6S+ just ran out and I figured the 8+ was pretty close in size and form. I hope I made the right call :/
