Thank god ambushing enemies is context-sensitive button press this time around. Swinging around that sword in P3 and 4 was the worst lol.

I always stack SP items as you can heal yourself up with spells anyway plus you can play forever this way(only downside is their price or availability most of the time), unless there is some kind of Fatique mechanic at work, is there in P5?

They really should create a custom Android OS with those sounds and slick design, I bet it would sell like crazy, hope sony is listening, might get them out of the dumpster in the smartphone department.

That click started to annoy me, honestly. =/ The menu exit sound too.

You don't hear it that often if you use the auto forward option for spoken dialogues.

Has Persona gone too far? I've bought the game twice cause i had the opportunity to snag it early, but I decided to keep my TYH edition too.

I didn't expect to spend this much on Persona 5

(also bought a PS4)

Nah, I think you are a very reasonable person(a)!

Am I seriously playing easy? Two first dungeon enemies dealt three critical attacks at me like it was nothing lmao. These fucking dudes dropped both of my characters to less than 50% hp in two rounds!

This is gonna be a tough journey for me. Man I wish you could change back from Safe, but I guess I understand why not. At least it's there.

Oh fuck it, delete the game and re downloading, everything. I can't take this English voices knowing I could be playing this with Japanese VA. The game better not fuck up once it's back up (which will take me the whole day).

Some days are just filled with disappointment... for the little I've played though, it's interesting, so really itching to get back at it.

I have changed the difficulty to easy too for a short time to catch Personas easier, since you don't get any XP(not really any) for persuating them it's not breaking my >normal< experience at least.

I tried safe mode once, it's hilarious, you can just use auto attacks and rush through, that's no game anymore you also get ridiculous amounts of XP.

Longest intro to a game I've ever played I think, God damn. At least the real fun starts now.

How long was it for you? I'm 5 hours in and I guess it won't end after
clearing the first dungeon
.

Lol long intro. Y'all don't even know.

It's over three hours into P4 before you even enter the shadow world.

I'd take that over the horrible pacing of the first dungeon in P5, though. Poor choice on their part. Should've used the time to build the characters more.

This is my first Persona game, and so far I'm enjoying it. Im about 2 hours in, and my hope is that the game gives me more control soon. I feel like my own rhythm is being constantly interrupted.

I tried the Japanese audio and it was bugged to hell. The English cast is pretty good though. I like it, it might grow on me even more.

A bit over 4 hours until I was given freedom to choose how I play. I'm not disappointed or anything, just the wait to get to that point started to become grueling lol.

Mannn it took around 5-6 hours tho before the game finally allow me to choose what the hell I am going to do with with my time instead of guiding me on rails. It's going to be tough on replays.

So I started with the English dub and its no as bad as I thought. I don't think its quite to P4 level but its not nearly as bad as the Atlus posted videos. As far as the game it's certainly pretty good so far but I am not sure why people were saying that the start was quicker then P4. I am 2.5 hrs in and still on rails.

If you use dialogue skip and skip the cutscenes it's only about 35 minutes (I've done it) to get to being allowed to roam the dungeon.

There are some QOL skips that make it easier.

So far Morgana >>> Teddy and Ryuji >>> Junpei and Yosuke

Promising start on the character department

Yeah, exactly, I'd like to keep at least some semblance of difficulty in, but it'd be nice to be able to switch to Safe for a second if you get really frustrated at some point.

Thank god im not the only one who got that, thought I was taking crazy pills. Some audio tracks just play randomly and then all audio would cut out, it's seriously fucked up. Does anyone have Japanese VA up running correctly?

This will "technically" be my first Persona game (played a few hours of P4G with barely enough time to play it). I'm still an Atlus newbie with only ♯FE completed, so here are a few of my questions before going in this weekend...

1. Does the Protagonist have an official name? I heard it was
Akira Kurusu based of the manga
but I'm not sure if that's reliable in the Persona canon? I always like to name JRPG heroes by their canon names.

2. What should I know going into this gameplay-wise the first time?

3. Apparently the JP audio is bugged? Is that still the case? I certainly hope not :/

Thanks Atlus peeps and hope you guys enjoy!

Nah man, I meant up until the game really allows you to choose where you want to spend your free time with, not really the 'first dungeon' per se since they still basically forced your hand there at least until you get Ann to join your team. It's taking a while.

It will ruin the get 250 Futaba lines trophy tho, I bet. Aww man, can't believe they put another trophy like hearing Rise's complete everything... this is going to be such a pain in the arse ://///////

Just starting the game, what exactly is the ''network function'' in this one? Worth going online?

Seeing what people are doing on any given day, seeing what people answer on school quizzes (but not school exams tho), and receive small help during dungeons.

So not really really really anything big, but it's nice.

Yeah, it looks like it will screw the chances of getting that trophy. But even on Easy, the trophy isn't hard to get. I got it 3/4th into the game, in the dungeon where the last party member joins the team. It helps that it's quite a long dungeon.

You serious? Hmmmm.....

Hey guys, I heard naming your character is backwards in this. Is that true?

I.E. I'd want my last name to be the first name I enter.

Ok. Played about 2 and a half hours and I love it. Need sleep so I decided to delete my save progress and start my serious run tomorrow.

The music is so good.

Bummer, because it's gonna be slow for at least another 6-8 hours maybe. Hope you do find some enjoyment out of it. Wish someone warned you about the really slow start, if that really ruffles your feathers. It does open more, but yeah, it's gonna take a while.

Oh, I'm not terribly worried, I pretty much knew this was what to expect. Most likely this won't end up being my sort of game, but I've always been intrigued by the Persona series, so I figured this would be as good a time as any to give it a shot.

Amazon pulled it off. Dispatched it at 1am and it's now out for delivery today. It's a shame I've suddenly turned "sick" and won't be able to go work.

I got the trophy in the first playthrough (normal difficulty). I didn't grind or anything it just happened. I'm sure things would be fine as Long as you don't skip too many enemy encounters

Is it possible to max out all Social Links in one play through or do you need to max out your stats and then you can in NG+?

It's likely possible, but very hard to achieve on your own. And using a guide is a bit too restrictive (as in, extremely restrictive) with a game like this.

If you have the time, I'd suggest just playing however you want during the first playthrough and if there are social links or other optional stuff you want to still do, leave them for NG+

Great, I switched to the JP audio and there's no subtitles in this cutscene because I had that option turned off haha. Audio sounds great so far though.

But y'all weren't kidding with those subway signs, they look like PS2 textures. What the hell were they thinking, I'm trying to navigate this labyrinth and looking at 8-bit signs.

Early game question: The game opened up for me a bit, I'm at
the part after you bought your first weapons and can now choose my free after school. When I head into the palace directly and beat Kamoshida, does the time jump to May 2nd or can I still use all days to socialize and explore the city up until then?
