Has Persona gone too far? I've bought the game twice cause i had the opportunity to snag it early, but I decided to keep my TYH edition too.
I didn't expect to spend this much on Persona 5
(also bought a PS4)
Is that effecting everyone? Cause I'm on the PSN version and no issues here.
The dub is fantastic, and so is most of the localization. Can't say the font bothers me any, either.
It's just that, prior to release, the English audience had been waiting for the game for several years, and had to handle several delays while knowing that Japanese players had gotten the game for months. Easy to laser focus on certain elements that might seem off from limited amounts of media released in those circumstances, especially when there's another version of the game to compare it to.

I just checked the PSN status on their website and apparently it's because Gaming and the Store are under maintenance until 11pm PST. So hopefully we'll be able to play in ~15 min

Bummer, because it's gonna be slow for at least another 6-8 hours maybe. Hope you do find some enjoyment out of it. Wish someone warned you about the really slow start, if that really ruffles your feathers. It does open more, but yeah, it's gonna take a while.

One of the most polished games ever and they leave textures worse than PS2 in some key locations? What?
Not even hyperbole, Persona 4 on PCSX2 has sharper textures than those certain garbage ones you see around the city.

I'm almost 4 hours in now, and this really bums me out. I'm loving it so far, but it seems like the hand holding should be phasing itself out by now. The fact that I'm looking at another 3-6 hours kind of blows my mind. FF XIII did this to a degree and it drove me nuts, I know the payoff will be there, and it's still Persona so I'm absolutely loving the style and story, just wanting all the mechanics already.

For my first Persona game, this is pretty dark. I love it lol.
Yeah. It's kind of bad cause you need to look at the signs to find the correct train station at the start and so it only draws further attention to itself.

I remember Catherine looking really good, it seems like so long ago now though. It's hard not to translate Soejima into pure awesomeness on screen

I've just started, but this game already feels so much bigger than P3. It's so strange to see a Persona game that's not blocky models, although yeah some of the textures do look pretty low-res. Everything just oozes style though. So far I'm kinda meh on the English VA. It's serviceable, but I might switch to the JP audio. Just feels weird to have everyone speaking English in Tokyo.
Only real negative thing so far (other than this overscan issue) is coming off of Yakuza 0 the Persona overhead map is kinda bad. Why is everything so small!

The dub is fantastic thus far. I saw the few first persona awakening in JP with english subs, and the scenes are doing more for me the second time around in english. I'd recommend everyone to stick with english if its their native language at least until the end of the first dungeon before making a final decision.
I'm looking to do this as well. Amazon had some serious issues with my TYH edition, so around 6PM today I called my local non-chain gaming store, they were selling it already (with the caveat that they said you couldn't get online until 10PM because Sony would brick your system...wat?) So I ran over there and got a steelbook edition. I told myself I would sell it when my TYH edition finally gets here, but it's a pretty sweet package as it is...
Funny thing is I double dipped on Tokyo Mirage Sessions as well. I only got one copy of Catherine though. Seeing this art style makes me want to go back through that game on very easy just for the story/ambiance, I absolutely loved that game, all while really disliking the main gameplay mechanic (the puzzles).

It's really just preference more than anything. I'm trying the dub since I played so much with the natural voices. It's solid.

Wow, they make summoning your Persona look like the most painful shit. Some of these scenes are brutal.
You get to look cool and smug afterwards. It's all about the outfits, though.

The EU versions all released at midnight. The US version is the only one that hasn't been released haha.
Merciless? Yeah, but it's still doable on a first run with some grinding.
I started on it with this version and it's been pretty brutal so far.
No regrets.

I love that you can replay voice samples from the text log.
The sound design is just orgasmic even simple sounds like menu clicks are so satisfying to listen to. And of course the soundtrack itself is fucking amazing.
I kind of can't believe that I'm 95% sure this going to be my GotY when so many fantastic games have come out already this year. I'm not even a half hour into it and it might even be GOAT status.

I'd say 30 hours ishShould've bought the sp regen item but was strapped for cashin the 3rd dungeon.
I always stack SP items as you can heal yourself up with spells anyway plus you can play forever this way(only downside is their price or availability most of the time), unless there is some kind of Fatique mechanic at work, is there in P5?
They really should create a custom Android OS with those sounds and slick design, I bet it would sell like crazy, hope sony is listening, might get them out of the dumpster in the smartphone department.
