She's Marvel's biggest Muslim writer so people probably wanted her hot take on it. I wouldn't be surprised if there were people that tried to expose her as an extremist.

I don't understand why he'd tank his career like this. He wasn't even being careful about what he was doing. He was either arrogant or dumb (maybe both?) thinking no one would catch on.

It's not perfect, but it's a much better direction for the line and it reminds me of the X-Men I grew up with on TV. I've seen more people who like it than hate on around the internet and ironically one of the biggest complaints with the first issue was Syaf's art. I'd say it's something you would need to form your own opinion on.

The only bright spot for me was when
Kitty gets handed a bill for a six-month, eighteen-million dollar lease agreement because she wanted to make a statement by magically relocating the X-Mansion to the heart of Central Park in New York City.
That got me to smile.

And Old Man Logan continues to stick out like a wrinkly sore thumb, as one might expect a grizzled, dusty old rancher to do when surrounded by people dressed in garishly colorful costumes.

He's the guy invited to a costume party who didn't read the invitation.

Just realized it was Guggenheim who wrote this, what a shame. Feel bad for the guy.

Hopefully 'discipline' means 'fired'. Every other publisher should be blacklisting the artist too obviously.
 
I picked up the Hip Hop Variant of this issue just 2 days ago at my LCBS and just opened it up to confirm it is there just because I had to. It is of course there. Wonder if it will make it worth anything in the future.

Pretty ballsy move by the artist. Crazy he got it through. Pretty bonkers situation all around.

There's no way Marvel was aware of this but fuck, that needs immediate punishment and correction.

Marvel is very good about diversity and representation in their comic space, this is so blatantly disrespectful and flies directly in the face of those values.
 
I can't imagine that he'll work for Marvel, DC, or Image again. His career as a well-paid comic book artist is over right when it started to take off. If he weren't such a vile person it'd be a shame, but fuck him - he deserves it.

They are pretty good. They try, that much is true. But there have been a few recent fuckups. This actually comes at a really bad time for them, in more ways than one
 
There are 2-3 Muslims working at Marvel now but all 3 are high profile where yeah, Syaf is fucked enough to not work there again unless they want to piss those 3 off.
