Call Of Duty WW2 reveal 26 april, website up [UPDATE: Leaked screenshots]

I want to be excited but I really can't, to me this is just another Yooka laylee situation where they are trying to recreate the past but won't have the same feel or character to it.

Like what can Sledgehammer add to a WWII call of duty that none of the other earlier games did? At best they can mimic the look of the older ones with the gameplay present in today's CODs from my perspective.

I like the pics but then again I don't care too much about visuals. Not expecting much there. Just diggin the setting.

PLEASE PLEASE don't ruin the MP with shitty Kill streaks...Just do 3,5,7 kill streaks like the GOATS COD4 and WaW had.
exactly. This should be a back to roots game in almost all ways. All the QoL improvements should remain and maps should be a bit bigger but overall the guns should be simple, maps well structured, killstreaks simple, etc...

This has potential. Also I personally don't want to see too much colourful sit on weapons. feel it doesn't fit the setting.

dont bet too much on that. I guess activision will eventually find a way to shoehorn that stuff into the game.

The real twist is that its actually in the future and you're just a solider they put into virtual reality reliving battles in WW2.

Even with all the games that have been about the setting, there are still millions of 10-14 year olds that maybe never had a console until this generation, nor a WWII shooter. So there is not only people that are glad to go back, but kids that just never played these and keep hearing about WWII as that huge historical epic.

You will get your natzi loot chests, and you will like it.

I hope it does not, and I hope they keep the customization on the realistic side and don't muck it up.

A lot of you guys are going to be disappointed. Loot boxes bring them more revenue than anything else, and something has to go into those loot boxes.

I really don't know how they're going to make this feel new when we've seen this era done to death.
Why does it have to be revolutionary and new? Make a solid WW2 shooter on today's hardware, that's all they have to do. Call of Duty is not a franchise about being revolutionary anymore.

Yep. I've given up on the MP entirely now so this'll just be a SP campaign for me. But loot crates and the like are never going away.

Screenshots are eh. The palette resembles classis cod moreso than the gritty feel of WaW and Cod3, but I'll reserve further judgement when footage comes out.

I wouldn't be surprised at that.

I also struggle to see how they'll manage multiplayer, and all of the lootbox shenanigans, without a conceit like that. 'This is a WWII VR simulation, so don't mind the neon pink gun camo'.

I rather have loot boxes than split the community with paid maps.

Alas, you'll get both. Even MWR got paid maps and loot boxes, and that's a game that still remains exclusive to a special edition of another game. That's not a split, that's a community diced up.

Seems like they've been after the Overwatch and Destiny crowd for some time but now taking it up a notch with Events and more Xp weekends to boost activity.

Hey at least we'll be getting more maps.

Instead of ONE a month as opposed to 16 a season and 4 for the bonus mode.

I tend to agree. And with Call of Duty you don't really need to worry about not finding games because of DLC splitting the community.

In my experience games that have free map DLC do so more to reinvigorate interest than to add content. It tends not to be much more than a nice gesture, as opposed to hefty map packs.

Not saying it's going to be better, but it will be different.

That's just how it goes with CoD and most titles.

Why are you sure it'll be different at all?

Hasn't pretty much every CoD box art (for a long time now at least) been the same as from when they're announced? I see no reason at all why this art will change
