Sony are killing it for 3rd Party Marketing / Exclusive Content Deals

Exclusivity deals are terrible. I recognize their value from a "make your platform more attractive to the consumer than the competition" standpoint, but they aren't something we should be happy about as those consumers.

What posts? The handful, if even that? There are way more posts like yours stating that Microsoft originated it when in fact Sony did with the PS2 (which has been stated many times already).

I mean isn't Sony deals usually revolve around marketing? Only game in recent memory that comes to mind is sfv but Capcom's excuse is that it would've taken longer to release (could be bs) but it would've been on both consoles. Capcom isnt doing so good these days anyway.
 
Imagine if all of the money spent on these exclusive advertising arrangements was instead spent on funding game development/keeping game studios open...

I only thought at MS E3 press conferences that there are just the usual suspects of games and since Sony has the leading marketshare I knew that the usual suspects would show uü at their press conferences, but in Sonys case they have showed commitment for great 1st party games and their E3 press conferences evolved into very entertaining showings.
 
I don't like this deals. last gen it was so irritating when I was getting shafted cus I went with Ps3 but I didn't care because my friends were all on Ps3. What I hate more is people acting like Sony is the only one doing it this gen. The division, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Fifa Legends(Still haven't seen the light of day on a PS console). I'm sure there's more I can't think of right now so the point is both companies do it. I guess you could say Sony got the better end of the stick this time around and it's looking like these deals are here to stay regardless of what Phil Spencer says.

According to the Marvel rep, they first contacted Sony because they wanted to move away from showelware games that Acti produced, and then Sony facilitated deal with Insomniac.

If that was indeed the case, I would not be surprised if somehow Sucker Punch also got involved in this initiative for some other superhero project.

Sony have been known to be dirty with their marketing blackouts and doubling down on deals to extend exclusivity after it was previously announced Destiny exclusive content would be on Xbox a year later. They quietly extended that and the content was pushed back another year.

Also the whole "Nier is only on PS4" shit that they clearly had Square blocked from discussing wasn't a good look. If they had funded development here that would be one thing but they didn't.

lol. Like there is a vast difference between the two. The developer/publisher are getting money either way. Who cares what they spend it on?

That 1 year Resident Evil 7 PSVR exclusivity killed my enthusiasm of playing it on my Vive. Yeah they're killing it alright.
 
No one likes a grammar nazi, but I had an off-topic question. Is it a British grammar thing to use the word, "are," when referring to companies? I see people on Neogaf say it all the time and it is jarring for me. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are all singular/collective nouns. So I would think one would say, "Sony 'is' killing it." There seems to be no reason to use the word, "are," unless you are specifically trying to emphasize the multiple employees or divisions within the company. My grammar is in no way shape or form that great - so please don't think I'm pretending to know it all - thus the reason I'm asking. Thanks.
 
Added Fifa 2018 and Far Cry 5 in the last month since I made this thread.

They keep coming, as it's been stated by some posters, I think there is a minds thing here that is going to be a really challenge for MS with this even with the Scorpio.
