Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 |OT| Anyone can save the galaxy once - SPOILERS!

I liked it but also the humor only landed about 1/3rd of the time for me. And there's a looooot of gags.

I thought the movie was okay.

Drax was the character that made me laugh more and there were some good small character moments. But I felt that the movie crammed way too many jokes in and only half of them stuck. The pacing was weird and tonally you had no time to let it sink in because they kept doing bits. When it worked it was great but when it didn't it just fell flat. It felt off at parts.

I found the final battle and the send off to Yuru pretty good even if I was kinda tired from the movie at that point. Still, I wish it had a different final scene. All the post credits shit was also meh.

Kurt Russel was, and always is, great. The constant 80's stuff was tiring too.

Overall a mixed bag. I enjoyed some parts while others left me cold. Very uneven movie for me. Drax was the highlight comedy wise, Batistas delivery is fantastic.

I read this in Moe's voice in my head and it was glorious.

Yo, Slayven, my geek the fuck out moment was when the Watchers showed up. I cut my teeth on those "What if" comics as a kid so that shit had me legit shook.

What if was the shit, did you read the relaunch in the 90s? They made The Watcher a hacker kid that discovered "Slowband" that allowed him to hack into other universe's internets and find out how history changed for them. Not as consistent as the original series but had some good highlights. Daredevil set in Edo era japan was pretty good

it's me or we already saw this story numerous times? wasn't there a futurama episode with the exact same premise?

You've seen a story where a god becomes a planet, creates an avatar of himself, sends them out all over the cosmos to create off-springs so one day he can use said off-spring as a battery to turn all life in the universe into him?

honestly i feel like ive seen this premise before somewhere too

Kind of a mess. It seems like they could have reorganized some parts and made a really excellent, focused film. They just tried to do too much. I got my money's worth though.

We traveled farther to go to this highly rated theater. Got nice reserved seats. The place was one of the best theaters I've ever been too even if it was a corporate run one.

We got seated next to this family with a kid that would not stop talking, the whole movie, with elevated voice volume. There were also other children in the theater and one near us happened to say something once, was told by their parents that this is a movie and be respectful of others by not talking during the movie, and didn't do it again. My brother was right next to the loud family, but he had a bigger problem with the guy sitting next to him, the father, who would not stop coughing like he had emphysema cancer lungs. He coughed loudly right in my brother's ears. They were constantly moving and moving the recliner up and down. They should not have brought a child that young that can't control himself to the theater. I blame the parents. The worst part is that my brother realized the families' father must have watched the cam because he was explaining stuff that was going to happen to a detailed agree only suitable for someone that saw the scene before, scenes that weren't in the trailers or press releases.

Even with all that we still enjoyed the movie. The theater was pretty amazing.

There was also bills of money on the bathroom's clean counter all the way to the left. A five on the outside and several bills underneath. I didn't take it :P

Such a good theater they pay you to watch their movies.

Booked to see it with VIP seats in VueExtreme, but got into a fight with my partner so we missed it. Fortunately the lady at the counter let us catch the later movie for free.

Anyway, the bar fell asleep, and tbh I don't blame her. I woke her up for the baby Groot bits.

It was packed full of jokes so it's like a comedy (similar to the first) but the jokes fall flat and the main plot is too serious when the characters make it out as not being a huge deal.

I didn't know when characters were meant to be sarcastic...

Tl;dr, only watch if you want to see baby Groot.

Wtf is this I don't even

Really liked it but Yondu's ending seemed to drag on. Music was definitely better in the first film but overall I thought this one was the better movie. I loved most of the jokes even if a lot of them were forced and trying too hard to be funny.

My only concern is that the first one will be more re-establish because this one was so emotionally draining at the end.

Drax and Mantis worked really well together but I'm surprised they didn't payoff the touching Gamora tease. Wonder if that's a deleted scene.

This is long bait.

Mantis had me in stitches. What a great character.

A lot of the humor in GOTG is thematic and visual, which I appreciated.

I don't understand why Yondu had to die though. This is internally inconsistent with the series. The guy who played him did a great job, but the characters are pretty much death-proof during this whole movie. Starlord gets impaled with Ego's magical tentacles 3 or 4 times I think. In order for a character's death to really resonate, it needs to have been a consequence of the circumstances in the film. It really seems like Yondu could have just left Starlord and he would have survived, like he always does. Always.

I get the whole "Sacrificing myself is the only good thing I ever done." trope, but it came off as a little unnecessary.

I didn't think the energy tentacle was actually stabbing his person, but draining his energy. So I didn't think anything of it when he came back when it was pulled out.

Yeah, it was never edited to make us think he was actually being stabbed, more that he was being held in place.

Not sure Peter could've survived a planet exploding, either. Especially not after he lost all his "powers".

Fucking loved it. Bigger, bolder, funnier, straight up weirder, but stays completely personal and smaller in a way and focused on the character relationships

Sean Gunn has this on his IMDB Page

Avengers: Infinity War (filming)
Rocket Raccoon

Huh

Bradley Cooper busy?

Maybe you're right. But you have to at least admit that the characters just sort of fly around and shoot at things without seeming to be in very much danger during the whole film.

For example, the opening sequence and that joke when they keep asking about tape.

It just had the feeling of "Movie nearing thematic conclusion, I have to die now."

Also we loved it. Trash Panda, Taserface, and Mary Poppins were fun jokes. Bautista stole the movie again, though everybody was still great.

The best part, though, wasn't even the movie itself. During the credits, some dude jumped up and screamed "Dance off, bro!" and started a dance off between him and a friend. The whole audience got into it by clapping along with the music to the credits to give the dancers a beat.

Star-Lord survived all that before because he was immortal. Once Ego was killed, he wasn't. That was an integral part of the plot.

Yes, Yondu had to die.

A little girl 4ish rows to my left was dancing all during the post credit scenes. She was REALLY into it, too.

I must have fallen asleep when they explained how Peter's very being was inextricably tied to his father's existence.

I remember them throwing the ball around, calling Peter immortal, and sharing his crazy plan. I do not recall when the whole "If I die, you no longer have powers." thing happened.

So yeah, I need to watch the movie again.
