I guess everyone would want to know why they're doing this for a friendly tournament.
Goku would probably tell them he needs money.
Because the editing is not as simple as it seems. There is more to it than simply cutting up scenes and piecing them together with new audio.

Like we even kinda saw that on Super. In his first arc (during Z) he was legit scared of dying near the end of the fight. In Super? Not so much scared at dying, more like angry at losing. Again.

Not only more training, but more uninterrupted training.
Like a lot of scenes having inconsistencies that they have to fix.
The breakdowns they use to do were interesting.
I love them. Some edits are super obvious like anything involving eyes but I never realised until I watched those how many of the lip flaps they use are completely redone or characters are edited into shots they weren't in originally etc. It's impressive.

Piccolo is the kid of the other one and had a fair amount of growth before the turn, Vegeta had a backstory that would allow for the change, and Buu excised the evil part of himself. A bunch of situations that aren't comparable here.

It's pretty similar to the Namek saga when they teamed up with the guy who just murdered all their friends and almost destroyed their planet in the last saga.
He was the reason they were there in the first place after all, and this was before all his character development. More importantly though it gave an interesting team dynamic when they weren't sure they could trust their own team member.
So I find it pretty comparable.

Freeza would NEVER work with Goku, no matter if he'd be promised a "better hell" or whatever. He hates Goku on such an obessive level, he would probably take the option of sabotaging the team's effort in order for Zeno to take the universe and Goku with it. One big aspect of Freeza is that he's a irredeemable piece of shit, rotten to the core. Unlike Piccolo or Vegeta any attempt at extending an olive branch will just backfire.

Cell was great but he's done, can't really do anything else with his character.

Before that. Around the time 16 is fighting Cell, after Cell blows Piccolo.
Goku doesn't IT until Tien is using his Tribeam.

If it wasn't for SSJ2 Gohan, Tien holding off Semi Perfect Cell would be my favorite moment of the Cell saga.

Just finished DBZ. I dont even feel satisfaction, just a sense of "ok". Buu saga was not very good and went on for way too long, and I feel DBZ took on a whole different tone for the worst. The comedy wasnt too great nor was there a sense of progress.

I felt the same way about Frieza as well. Generally bringing an old big bad of a previous arc to be a big bad of a new arc is a bad play.
