Also, something that makes more sense in hindsight regarding the opening:
Buu only appears in group shots, with nothing in the montage of the different team members getting prepared/fighting in the ring.

Goku actually did look a little older at some points before his big growth spurt, whether it was due to art style changes or whatever

Well, it makes sense in Super.
Beerus gives no fucks, and frieza was loyal to him in the past. But narrative wise this is some fan servicey bullshit.

I'd like to point out that Buu is asleep in the ending and everyone else is doing things they'll likely be doing during the fight

Then don't hammer fake marketing down our throats for 3 months.
There is 0 reason to believe any marketing for future arcs now.

This. Toriyama has alienated an entire fanbase with this move. Some of you can laugh all you want but you don't fuck someone over in this fashion. The people who have actually, you know, been supporting the show.

Toei Animation: you must publicly apologize and cancel this development. Go on hiatus if you have to in order to adjust the show. Otherwise you can kiss dragonball merchandise sales goodbye and dragonball super will be known as a super failure.

"We need a replacement for Buu. "
*look at Yamcha*
"We need to take a trip to Hell to beg Frieza's help"

I don't know what you know about Japanese culture, but I'm an expert.

I really wanna see Goku try to explain the shit he's pulling while not revealing the real stakes of the tournament.

Gohan will be in the background trying to run away.

I think it's just amusing Goku's been recruiting Roshi, Tien, and Krillin. Then, instead of just going to Yamcha, they go to Frieza who's already stronger than a lot of the other cast that's been recruited.

This is a direct move by Beerus to dick over Champa.

Champa: GIVE ME MORE SAIYANS!

Beerus: Guess who really hates saiyans bro...

Can't wait for the bickering.

The return of Frieza actually gives importance to Resurrection F, before now that arc felt pretty irrelevant as the status quo was quickly resolved with the only big impact being the introduction of SSB (which was achieved offscreen). Frieza was brought back after years, achieved a new form and was thrown back in hell never to be mentioned or shown ever again.

His new role as an ally of his enemies in Universe Survival will add alot to his character and to the series going forward.

Yeah, it actually does make sense.
Beerus is the one technically in charge, and he's afraid of getting erased too. He also seems to not really care if people are good or evil. Freeza isn't going to become a part of the good guys like Vegeta and the others did. Remember that this is a Universe 7 team, not a Goku and friends team.

It also plays into the whole "you are evil" thing Toppo has against Goku and U7.

I really think Yamcha is going to do something more important than anything Krillin, Roshi or Tien do in this arc. The long-running joke of Goku not asking him to join the team will have positive pay-off

I wouldn't even be shocked if this hypothetical Yamcha moment features Goku explaining he left Yamcha out of the team to be available for that very reason.

Earth is invaded and Yamcha, Goten and Trunks save the day.
