Nintendo E3 plans detailed

can't wait for the direct........but dear god, I absolutely can't stand treehouse. It's so boring, the questions I remember were for the most part terrible, can't stand the presenters and it just......sucked. Pokemon Moon/Sun presentation last year gives me nightmares

Then dont watch and just wait for other videos. You can just watch the "Direct" and go back to sleep.

No we don't. How do you know there aren't any unannounced titles?

So you think that Nintendo has anything of significance releasing this year that as of right now nobody knows about? We already know ARMS, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, & Fire Emblem Warriors are coming this year (still skeptical of Xenoblade coming before Dec. 31, 2017).

mario 3d world was revealed at an E3 and launched the following holiday season, so everything can happen.

nobody knows what is retro doing

Smaller titles won't sell the Switch though.

Speak for yourself, I have more "small" games on my Switch 2 months after launch than I do on some systems I've had for years. One of the major reasons I bought one at launch was for SnipperClips. Yes, I also wanted that sweet sweet Zelda, but I honestly could have just played it on my Wii U. SnipperClips helped push me to get one at launch, and little games like Snake Pass, Blaster Master 0, etc only helped solidify my desire. I know I'm in the minority but there are definitely people who are more attracted to smaller games than huge AAA releases and would buy a Switch for them. There are people on this board that own PS4s or Xbones and they specifically want a Switch to be their main indie games machine.

I would be kinda shocked if Nintendo doesn't briefly mention 1 to maybe 3 games that aren't scheduled to come out until 2018. Anybody expecting anything massive to be announced and come out this year is just asking to be disappointed.

Ah well there goes my hype for Nintendo's E3 if it's just 2017 games.

This company always fucks something up even when things are going great. You'd think I'd learn after all the disappointments of being a fan for 30 years lol.

I hope there's a Platinum game for the Switch at this E3.

Since Star Fox we don't know what Hashimoto has been up to, and I would love The Wonderful 102 directed by him since Kamiya doesn't direct the sequels to his games, more so if it comes with a port of the first game a la Bayonetta.

The only reason you have more small games on your Switch is because you want to play your Switch (rightfully so) and the console is starved for games.

Nintendo never fucking learns. Get ready for Retros fucking Donkey Kong!

Again, it's not just 2017.

Every single time they've used the word focus on, it has never meant exclusivity.

It's almost as if it only came out 2 months ago

Don't worry guys, Mario Odyssey will carry Nintendo to victory.

(They will also show Xenoblade X2 later in the treehouse)

Treehouse is the best thing to happen to E3. Gameplay>hype trailers

Dude, Nintendo is just trying to tame the hype because it won't be as big as people are expecting. The word focus on 2017 games is essentially telling us to cool it...of course there will be a surprise or two, but no major bombs. If there was, they would not use that lingo because they would be more confident in their e3 marketing announcement.

I just hope the focus this time is on the Switch first and foremost.

Last Direct focusing so much on the 3DS was baffling.

Edit: I fully expect SSB4 Deluxe to be announced.

Hopefully!

Pokken Complete, Bayonetta 1&2 HD + Wonderful 101, DK Tropical Freeze + Returns HD, Windwaker + Twilight Princess HD, Fatal Frame V (Finally retail Edition) and Mario 3D World would make fantastic stop-gap titles in between big releases.

Also Tokyo Mirage Sessions would be really nice too, especially if they at least dub it this time.

They have always used this terminology, even when we had big bombs as you call it.

Well look at it sales wise:

Metroid Prime on a ~20m Userbase: 2,8m Units
Metroid Prime 2 on the same Userbase 1,3m Units
Metroid Prime 3 on a 100m Userbase: 1,8m Units

The Franchise isn't selling well by Nintendos standards, now let's look at Donkey Kong:

DKCR on a 100m Userbase: 6,5m
DKCTF on a 12m Userbase: 1,6m

The game sold roughly the same on a failed console like Metroid Prime did on Nintendos best selling console in history...

A Switch DKCR might be able to reach ~3m and more units easily. A Switch Metroid Prime on the other hand... probably 2m tops.

I agree completely with them needing to focus on the Switch. Let the 3DS slowly die. I was playing Pokemon Moon and that game ran like shit on the 3DS. Nintendo has to let that shit go.

They had a pre-E3 press event focused on 3DS games already, for what it's worth.

Right, which makes it even more clear that the Spotlight will be solely on Switch games. Which is what the poster seemed to be asking for.

45 to 50 minutes of Switch games in 2017 and 2018 sounds fantastic to me.

Huh? Aren't you guys saying the "focus" doesn't mean "exclusively"? Guess 3DS is also possible then.

"this presentation will offer more details about Super Mario Odyssey and other Nintendo Switch games, with a focus on games launching in 2017."

Note it does not say "with a focus on Switch games". There's no reason to expect 3DS games in the Spotlight video, though it's possible. Then regarding the Treehouse stream they explicitly mention 3DS games.

I didn't understand why people thought Nintendo would show a ton Of unannounced games. Half of the games that were shown at the presentation in January needs to be showcased. All I really need is Zelda DLC, MARIO and some competent third party ports that can be played on the go.

Okay you made me laugh. Please tell me this isn't parody so I can laugh more.

Leave making shit up to me

I'm not claiming to know anything. It just makes sense to me that given the amount of titles still within 2017 to cover there probably won't be many 2018 announcements. That's all.

We might see a few 3DS games but I have a feeling there won't be much from Nintendo itself, they are preparing to support the Switch for the time being.

They can even show 3DS games for 2018 if they want following this logic, so even if they'll focus on Switch games I say I'd expect some annoucements for 3DS.

Yes, teach them how to read!!!

Yeah, we'll probably see a few trailers for games not coming out this year while the games coming out this year will have sections going in depth, hence the "focus" on 2017 games.
A trailer for a game not releasing this year will probably close the "spotlight".

Something I remember: back in 2012, Nintendo at E3 that year had an pre-E3 Direct that covered most of the Wii U's features as a console, a seperate press conference dedicated to 3DS games, and of course the big main conference featuring the Wii U. A lot of people thought they were gonna go crazy with Wii U game announcements for the latter considering the 3DS and Wii U hardware features were seemingly out of the way...

...that was, until the main conference turned out to be a bizarre mismatch of all three, lol. That year was a trainwreck that pretty much cemented the Wii U's doom.

While I get the idea of focusing on the switch exclusively, part of me wonders if they will do a quickie rundown of the 3DS titles coming soon that is done in the same quick fire fashion that it was done last month. Other than that, I'm sure there has to be a few small teasers they could drop as well for games we're likely going to see next year (although if they have alot of plans for 2017, I don't think it won't be too bad to focus on the here and now)

Huh? Nowhere does this say that the Spotlight video will "focus on Switch games". It says they will offer more details about Mario and other Switch games "with a focus on games launching in 2017". This is not that hard to understand- they're showing Switch games, mainly ones launching in 2017.

Why are people expecting news on 2018 games?

Because Nintendo always announces new games coming out next year (and beyond) at E3? Like, every single time. Why is this so controversial?
