Twin Peaks Season 3 - Teaser Trailer 'It's Happening Again'

I thought this might deserve it's own topic as it's the first trailer in ages that works more as a teaser trailer for the new season. They've been VERY careful to not let much spill about the third season, but within the last week have started releasing little new footage in trailers, but it's mostly been small things like location shots, or this trailer where we see a few of the old characters in their elderly state. But this is the first trailer I would really consider a 'teaser trailer', showing new footage from the series, some dialogue, new characters, and all at once still not really giving away what the new season is about but the first trailer I would say that might wet the appetite a bit of those curious.

Season 3 is super close, the first two parts/episodes air on television on May 21st (and the first four parts will be available on Showtime on Demand on the same day).

So many actors. This is how you do a tease.

Asked in the other thread, anyone know who the actor is sitting staring forwards right before the security cam shot? Gives me vibes of the FWWM scene with Coop seeing the doppelganger on the security monitors.

edit: Christ have some catching up to do on dugpa, this preview exploded the boards there lol

Ben Rosenfield. He's good.

Trailer made me so stoked. Can't wait! It's finally here!

I appreciate that they've gone with the less is more approach, but I'll be honest out of all the small little things they've been doing for the last month this is probably the first thing that has made me legitimately excited, it does a good job at still not really telling us anything about the new season but both showing things fans will recognize as well as some of the new cast (which the overall cast is massive, so it's still pretty small), plus some small things you can catch for the observant that hint at some interesting things.

Please don't disappoint. Please don't disappoint.

We won't know until we know, but we know it'll be 18 parts (they say each part is an hour, not been clarified if it means each episode/part is 60 minutes or fits into a one hour time slot with ads, but they keep saying its 18 hours and 18 parts so it sounds like it might be the full 60 minutes per part), and every episode was written by David Lynch and Mark Frost, and every episode directed by David Lynch. It's very close though.

I don't off name but I 100% feel like I recognize him, and yeah this is kind of the first 'hype worthy' trailer even though it still is minimalistic but I think it works with their less is more before airing approach.

Ahhhh, Ben Rosenfield. Okay~ That's good to know.

Showtime doesn't have ads (except for between shows). They've said each part will be "around an hour". I expect the exact running time to vary week to week, much like Game of Thrones or other premium cable shows. One week might be 52 minutes, the next might be 63.

We've gotten so little information about what this season will be and I love it. Excited for next week just so we can get our bearings on what the hell everyone's been up to these past 25 years.

Looks very FWWM visually.

Which I have zero complaints about.

One thing I've noticed with the little teasers and can finally affirm with this trailer is that the way this season is shot it doesn't really look like a modern TV show, it does have that Fire Walk With Me/Inland Empire kind of look in that it looks kind of raw... If that makes any sense. But more towards FWWM than IE because it's done in a bit more of a cinematic way rather than the sort of shaky cam IE had.

I don't view this as a bad thing either, I do think Lynch knows his stuff for conjuring an atmosphere with odd film techniques, and I think it'd be weirder to see Twin Peaks filmed in an entirely 'modern' TV show way, so I'm open to the sort of off-kilter approach.

Right, which I'm fine certainly with more~

Fuck off, I was just grinning halfway through the trailer.

Only 10 days to go. Still hard to believe this is happening the way it has to.

Gave me chills. I'm rewatching the show with my gf right now (her first time) and I had forgotten just how scary it is.

Also, in a strange coincidence our episode for last night was the one where Jean Reanoult dies. Very eerie timing.

I am excited

This is going to be a one season show isn't it?
That's ok, I just finished the series and glad I didn't have to wait 25 years, I can't imagine what the people that been waiting that long must be feeling. I was 10 when I turned on twin peaks at the tail end of an episode. Ronettes dream at the end of the first episode of season 2.

Slept with the light on that night, never watched again until 2017.

Yes, this is confirmed to continue from the first two seasons of the show but 25 years later (it's not a reboot), it is the final season of Twin Peaks (there will be nothing after this except for one novel by Mark Frost which acts as an epilogue of sorts (sort of like his novel he released a few months back which takes place between Seasons 2 & 3), the show is not gunning for another season), and it's basically an 18-hour long movie cut into '18 parts', with each part being an hour or so long.

Also quite a first thing to expose yourself to Twin Peaks through.

Glad to hear this is the final season. With a lot of key Twin Peaks actors gone, I don't want it to feel like the had to compromise due to unfortunate circumstances.

Straight up petrifying.

Story of the season seems to be coming into focus though.

One dude on the couch is feeling the garmonbozia and that gum he likes is back in style? So he's killing people?

Ugh the whole thing was so terrifying and yet I've watched it 20 times

Welcome to Twin Peaks lmao amirite

@TwinPeaksArchve tweeted awhile back that there could be more based on the reception/how well it does for Showtime. But as I understand it yes the new season was written as a closed loop, singular story. Will try and find the tweet in question.

What's Showtime's policy on censorship? Is it like HBO where they're free to show nudity, violence unlimited naughty words etc?

Am I weird for wanting to watch this in standard def when it comes out?

Yes. This looks like it's shot completely differently than the OG series (and I watched that shit on a black and white antenna job, man. fucken 25 years ago lmao)

But this is 18 hours of the first 40 of FWWM

HD or die

Also I'll mention this here for those who want to wet the Twin Peaks appetite a bit more before the new season/new trailer released probably, one of the composers for the new season (not the main composer, that's Angelo Badalamenti of course) released an album yesterday (this was brought up in the main TP topic), but for those who want to wet your appetite a bit more Johnny Jewel released an album, "Windswept", which features music he did for the new season of Twin Peaks. You can buy the full album for $1 here: http://italiansdoitbetter.bigcartel.com/product/johnny-jewel-windswept

But they also did some official uploads on the YouTube channel. Here's a few of the songs:

All of it is very Twin Peaks-esque, and more on the album/official channel.

Found it:

I'd be fine with a proper conclusion with these 18 hours wrapping things up, but ofc wouldn't say no to more. As others pointed out it seems like the timing on this production was just right (or slightly off imo) esp in context with the passing of several key players during and after production. If Lynch/Frost choose to do more perhaps they'll go a different route in regards to general timeline and characters, but I'd def want an emphasis on the original lore and arcs established thus far.
