Twin Peaks Season 3 - Teaser Trailer 'It's Happening Again'

Figure walking to the left of Cooper. Some think it may be The Jumping Man. Thoughts?

Also as another user mentioned those walls resemble the room above the convenience store.

I saw the figure in the trailer on the second watching, the room looks like a place directly out of the place above the convince store from FWWM and the figure is too dark to make out but there's definitely somebody there. There's a lot of small details you can pick up from the teaser, but still a lot kept in mystery, which I think helps it be a good teaser for a secrecy advertising campaign for the show (which I appreciate).

Sad seeing Miguel Ferrer. :(

It's mixed feelings for me, I loved Miguel Ferrer in every role I ever saw him in and I loved Albert on Twin Peaks (he's 100% in my top 10 favorite TP characters). I'm both very happy he was able to be in the third season, and very sad he passed away and this will remind me of that and what the world lost with him.

I feel the series happened maybe at just the right time, it could've happened earlier of course (David Bowie was originally supposed to be in this season, for example), but several of the actors have passed away since the filming of Season 3 stopped, it's something of a bittersweet pill to take.

Some seem to think it's Cooper's doppelganger, like in the scene in the season two finale where he's following himself through the curtains of the red room.

Is the Jumping Man in the cast? That'd be so wildly exciting.

EDIT: "His actor, Carlton Lee Russell, is to appear in the 2017 revival, though it is unknown if he will be reprising this role or playing a new one."

Damn this season is GOING for it.

Indeed it is ;)

The movements appear somewhat in sync too though the figure on the left moves more like an elderly person. Someone said it could be Major Briggs though what with Don S. Davis having passed away not sure if they'd try and do a replacement, though recasts aren't totally out of the question *cough Donna.

Man, age has gotten to some of these actors badly.

Please don't suck like every long awaited sequel like The X-files or movies like dumb and dumber 2.

It has been 25 years. However I think Lynch does some great work with older actors, as demonstrated both in the original TP series and Straight Story, and the like.

Some have aged gracefully, like honestly I think Lynch himself has and Lucy looks to have aged well, others definitely show it's been 25-years. But I think after some adjustment it'll be fine. Plus there's certainly a lot of new blood injected into this season as well.

Keep in mind also this new season of Twin Peaks was both announced before and released after the X-Files season, plus I have more faith in Lynch and Frost than I did in Chris Carter, honestly. This wasn't a rush job, they've been working out this season for years, bartered to get exactly what they wanted for the new season, and in many ways I think shows it's more a passion project by those involved rather than a cheap cash-in. I have confidence, at least.

I'll be crushed if this sucks

X files didn't really bother me cause it sucked long before the reunion

I really don't know what to expect

Alright. Do I finally need to watch the original and film to understand this?

You do, but you can catch the original series on Netflix, Hulu, Showtime On-Demand, or some other places right now.

Fire Walk with Me (the film) is a bit harder to get but not by too much, but you can see it on Hulu with a Showtime subscription, on Showtime Demand, rent it from someplace, buy it if you like it, etc.

If you want to go all in, the Twin Peaks blu-ray is fantastic, includes better visuals of the whole series you won't find anywhere else and also includes the Movie and an additional "deleted scenes" thing with 90 minutes of footage from the film called Missing Pieces. It's a very good Blu-Ray.

Its a fantastic boxset. Worth it for the Missing Pieces alone

Excellent trailer. Hopefully there is still some "soap" to this show though. Cause this trailer was purely ominous.

Wait how's important is that book Frost released?

Thanks.

Do I watch the film first, or the series? Also, is there anything else? I see Miguel Ferrer recorded something in 2014.

To clarify talk of if this is the last season, at this time no more is planned but they aren't saying never and confirmed that if they get an idea for more it could happen.

Remember this happened because Lynch and Frost got an idea for a story that they were excited about.

That last shot of Coop is depressing man. Smile Cooper.

that shot was very reminiscent of Leland Palmers drive with a dead girl. Checking his mirrors. Or I'm reaching

Also I'll mention this here for those who want to wet the Twin Peaks appetite a bit more before the new season/new trailer released probably, one of the composers for the new season (not the main composer, that's Angelo Badalamenti of course) released an album yesterday (this was brought up in the main TP topic), but for those who want to wet your appetite a bit more Johnny Jewel released an album, "Windswept", which features music he did for the new season of Twin Peaks. You can buy the full album for $1 here: http://italiansdoitbetter.bigcartel.com/product/johnny-jewel-windswept

But they also did some official uploads on the YouTube channel. Here's a few of the songs:

Blue Moon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGMXFRe4wrU
Saturday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybYaONaws9k
Heaven: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxVhLf5Bdjg
Missing Pages: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNWjFOL7b6U
Motel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4VsPob4ke0
The Flame: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlmwngDSFhQ

All of it is very Twin Peaks-esque, and more on the album/official channel.

Sweet... baby... jesus

Thanks.

Series first. Movies a prequel that spoils the shows main mystery.

So who else is gonna suffer through Fallon tonight for Kyle's spot? I'm guessing if he brings a "clip" it'll just be this spot again but who knows.

Didn't know he was gonna be on Fallon, thanks for the heads up. Not sure its worth it sitting through that crap though.

I can second this.

Thanks.

Series first, then film last. The film is a prequel, but both has heavy spoilers for the series and I kind of doubt you'd fully understand the film without the context of the series.

Fuck me that was some damn good teasing. And hot.

I just wish the trailer wasn't so low quality.

Oh, you can listen to that album on Spotify too by the way. It's good.

It will have goofy moments, it will not be a soap opera.

The book is not important, by design. It mostly faux-historical trivia and backstory of minor characters, most of whom won't be appearing in the new show.

Wait what book is this?

Secret History of Twin Peaks by Mark Frost.

He changed Norma's family history. No mention of her sister Annie and her Mom died when she was younger. (This retconned her mother the food critic) I believe he changed her maiden name too, so it's not Blackburn like Annie's.

Just a few of the many, many changes Frost made.

But the book is all presented as an in-universe dossier, so it's not really clear whether these are actual retcons or inconsistencies/mistakes made by the author.

Oh my gosh...... the jumping man is so creepy.... I wonder if the characters in the convenience store scene from FWWM with me will be expanded on much or kept vague

And he seemed to hint on twitter that the changes were something deliberate, and not just him forgetting things.

I find it hard to believe he'd retcon Annie out of existence, since the very end of the show -- literally the last words! -- and Cooper's whole fate are all tied directly to Annie.

I still haven't read the book. I ordered it and it arrived today but I'm somewhat reluctant to actually read it, these sort of explanations aren't really my thing and I'm doubtful I'd actually enjoy it. Plus Lynch is ignoring it too. :s

Yeah, sorry I meant the "in universe" authors of the dossier and the person investigating it.

They're definitely hinting at the inconsistencies with the TV show playing a part later on.
