Well, Super has referenced even "filler" scenes, so I wouldn't be surprised if they pull this out.
Not for major story developments.
"Hey Gregory exists in Super !"
and
"Hey Gohan was stronger than Blue Goku all along but mental block against Buu cause of that random piccolo scene !" is stretching it.
Plus ultimate Gohan did try to fight Beerus and shit himself completely. Was that another mental block ?

I'm not saying it will happen, I don't think its likely. What I'm saying is that Super has done things that redefines the definition of "stretching it" - this in comparison wouldn't be nearly as bad.
The groundwork is there. Ultimate State is meant to unlock every bit of Gohan's potential at zero ki drain - potential that even SSB Vegeta years later is saying still surpasses them all. Toei can just draw Gohan's downfall against Buutenks as a mental block or that he's more used to his powers now.
Actually, the latter could be fair. Gohan had a ritual performed on him, much like Goku. Gohan's was done by a god of creation, who has access to god ki. If we assume that Gohan's mystic state has special properties to it [which isn't that far fetched, it was done by a god] then much like Goku, the more he uses the state, the stronger he'll get. Goku's strength in his battle against Beerus increased significantly as the battle went on and he got used to his powers. That's a lot of assumptions, but we're discussing and I don't think its likely but it could happen. Worse has happened, from 17 to Krillin.
Oh, and that clearly wasn't Ultimate Gohan in the Anime. And don't bring the movie into this, he was originally meant to be a SSJ level power, they just changed it to Ultimate because of fan out-rage. He was gonna get punked there regardless of how strong he was.

As for Gohan's looks, the only reason the bang is back is nostalgia and because it's basically the same hairstyle, just "scruffier".
The bang was never part of the transformation, it was his original hairstyle to begin with.
They did the same thing when Trunks went USSJ in Super, gave him the same old original hair... Except the only reason he had that hair in the original was because he had long after following the HTC, that wasn't the transformation giving him long hair.
In the movie he had the bang before transforming just by changing clothes, and in the Trunks saga he had the bang without ultimate.

No he wasn't, no bang no Ultimate. It also leads into the fact he wasn't sure he could even go Super Saiyan anymore in the RoF Saga.
He was clearly Ultimate since no one said that he got weaker and Piccolo got freaked out after Gohan was one-shotted.
That was in Resurrection 'F'. In Battle of Gods it was never stated that Gohan lost his power and Piccolo freaked out after Gohan lost to Beerus in one shot, which would make no sense if Gohan was vastly weaker than before.

Of course he freaked out Gohan got one shotted he is one of the three main Saiyans. He had no lightning in his Aura and no Bang.

He was using his Ultimate form since no one claimed that Gohan was weaker and why the hell wouldn't Gohan used his full power?

Explain how Gohan got bodied harder than SS3 Goku and SS2 Vegeta, both of which are severely weaker than he was in his Ultimate form. They made it clear by changing his design so much from the Movie to Super, no Gi and no Bang, even in the movie he was intended to be weaker originally.
Explain how SS2 Vegeta did better than SS3 Goku.
1= Goku didn't land a single hit on Beerus and was taken out with one finger
2= Vegeta had an angry power boost that made him stronger than both Goku and Gohan
And FYI, Ultimate doesn't have lightning.
As for the bang, he has had the bang without "transforming" several times. They only decided to make it an indicator now.
It was never a thing, Gohan's bang was part of his default hairstyle back then.
Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta didn't even fight Beerus until he got a rage boost that surpassed everyone. Beerus is so powerful that he on-shoted Gohan, it isn't hard to figure out. And Goku trained for years after the Buu Saga so trying to say he couldn't get closed to where Ultimate Gohan was at was just a fan theory.
Unless you have a statement for that, this is just you making a theory. Nothing in Super claimed that Gohan in Battle of Gods got weaker. It's not until Resurrection 'F' that this was stated. And the movie never made him weaker since the director said that Ultimate was always plan.

That isn't exactly what Piccolo said. Plus, he was trying to highlight Gohan at his best, not him being bodied by Beerus. And Ultimate only became comparable to Blue through training.

If they bring Frieza back again, I may quit. He was just back and killed again, and there is no way he would follow the rulesas he would screw them over just to get their universe wiped out in revenge.
If anything, bring Cell back. His saiyin parts would love a good fight, and he's nowhere near as hot headed as Frieza and would know better than to screw them. Plus he's all around way more interesting.

Cell tried to blow up the planet with a Kamehameha and then tried to kill himself along with the planet. He is just as hot-headed as Frieza if not more.

I think we'll get a new version of Ultimate that he will use against SSB tonight. That's probably why they didn't show the SSB part of the fight in the NEP.
I just want the tournament to start already lol. How long has it been now? 2 months?
