Nah, it's only a point if they announced a game without a release date and it doesn't release for a long time. The reason they are doing that now (announcing without release dates) is they want to avoid any potential delays after announcing the release dates to begin with, that is far more annoying imo. I'm all for them not mentioning release dates until a few months from release, as long as the game is coming out within a year or two of release God of War, Spider-Man, Days Gone will all be out before the end of 2018.
See, that's where I disagree there. I want to be able to play those games at least within a year of them being announced. Waiting over a year drains my excitement for a title. It's like with God of War, that was my game of the show, I was really hyped for that game after it's showing in the conference last year. It's been a year.
I much prefer the way Bethesda announced Fallout 4 and released the game months later. I was excited for the announcement, and I didn't have to wait too long to get the chance to play the game. Meanwhile with these Sony fist party titles, I want to play them, but we have no info on when we can. It's some dangling a carrot in front of our faces shit, and I'm honestly over it.
I know people hate it but it seriously doesn't bother me when Sony shows off a game at E3 that's not coming out in like 2 or 3 years. It only leaves me excited on what to look forward to in the future. Plus, we get PS4 exclusives every year mostly in the first half and summer. Then in the second we have multiplatform games and Microsoft exclusives. Every year they're so many games this gen now.
We get the promise of these titles, but no certainty of when we'll be able to play them though. I love an out of left field announcement like FFVIIR as much as the next guy, but how many years ago was that game announced? I just want to get this over with and play the damn thing.
