Scorpio, does it launch in time for Destiny 2? (and if not that will really suck)

Lets not beat around the bush

Destiny 2 will most likely be the biggest (NON COD) multiplayer extravaganza of the year and will be a huge spectacle.

I personally cannot wait and am super hyped. I'm all in on scorpio, bought a 4k HDR TV, everything is set.

However, I cant help but feel that my D2 first impressions are going to end up happening on my Xbox One... and that really bums me out. D2 is my personal perfect restart game, its the only game I am prospectively buying this holiday
H3A
and will likely be the only game my scorpio plays for some time.

I feel my enjoyment will diminish the first day, week, month? Knowing that 'thats gunna look better' 'thats gunna load faster' 'thats gunna be clearer' while playing the game.

So what do you guys think, think Scorpio and Destiny 2 are meant to be? Or will there be that weird limbo period in between?

p.s.
obviously from a sales perspective it will really suck for MS if D2 is available on ps4&pro&pc vs xb1 ensuring that xb1 players have the fourth best version of the game available to them at launch.

Chances are 50:50

If they go for a staggered launch like Xbox One S, the console could release in small number already in September.
Otherwise late October / early November is more liekely.
Phil said they're ahed of schedule, so it's possible. But don't count on it.

And why not wait 4 weeks? We'll probably know by then

Plus this:
Well considering Forza always launches in spetember and destiny will launch in september, I would say there is a pretty good chance it launches in time for destiny.

You can't always get what you want. You'll be able to swap your Scorpio right in and you won't have to repurchase the game or start a new account or anything. That's not such a bad situation.

I doubt it'll be out by September, but I don't mind. Just play it on the XB1 and then play it some more on the Scorpio.

I feel like the only shift will be from console to PC. Very few people will go from one console platform, where they build up teams in the LFG mines, to another. So it doesn't really matter if Scorpio makes D2 launch.

If it is 2 months later, most of the early D2 teething bugs and issues will be ironed out....hopefully...

Scorpio will be the Definitive Console version, so if it means waiting a bit for that....so be it.

I dont see the issue really. If i have to play the first two months on Xbox One its totally fine for me. Isnt gonna be a bad experience or something. And when Scorpio arrives i plug in my HDD and ready to go.

If Scorpio does not launch in time for D2 OP at least bugs and shit should be fixed in the game by the time Scorpio does launch. :)

Hah, good point. You might be doing yourself a favor by starting Destiny 2 two months late.

It also gives people a good idea what crazy things Bungie announces at launch and beyond.

After years of playing Online games, being first in line never really works out if you want a stress free time. :D

So for Scorpio games, you will need to buy a separate version of the game? You can't buy it for Xbox One and then use that copy on the Scorpio?

Undecided to buy for Xbox One for Scorpio or PS4 Pro. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what Scorpio is like and its pricing.

I'm guessing October-November for Scorpio. I had a similar reaction to you with BF1 and the PS4 Pro launch, but it was actually really cool to see the improvements (they were bigger than I expected on a 1080p display) and most of your playtime will be on the superior platform.

Well considering Forza always launches in september and destiny will launch in september, I would say there is a pretty good chance it launches in time for destiny. Also Xbox one s launches in august and did very well and they are ahead of schedule.

Jumping in to say that the "limited" Xbox One S console launched on August 2nd last year. It was followed by the release of the 500Gb and 1Tb models later in the month. I could see them following a similar schedule for Scorpio.

Personally, I think launching in September with a free game of your choice is probably the best promo they could run. SoW will be out by then as well. I think it would be a no brainer if they had marketing deal with Destiny. Instead what we are likely to get is a day and date release with AC:O.

It would be smart for MS to launch in September to better align with all of the holiday releases, but that may be rushing it with the launch. I'm sure we'll find out at E3.

I say there is a slight chance for this to happen. Perhaps high end scorpio sku around time D2 launches then lower end skus in october?

Not likely, but Destiny 2 will have such a long tail and work on Scorpio that it's almost inconsequential when the console launches.

lol nah, Playstation will have content first again, so I wouldn't call the scorpio version the "definitive console version".

Just out of curiosity, where is everyone pulling these October/November guesses from? Is it just assuming that they're treating it like the launch of a new console rather than an updated SKU? Xbox One S launched in August...

Phil mentioned they were ahead of schedule, so I think September/October is definitely a possibility.

I'd think they'd want to launch with Forza 7 and Crackdown as close as possible if NATO day one and Forza will almost definitely be releasing in September. I'd be shocked if they sent Crackdown out to die in November so I think Crackdown could potentially be August.

But they said a year ago already Holiday 2017. So why do people suddenly think its gonna be september?

SoW comes out in August. You likely have F7 coming out in late September along with D2 and potentially FC5. Followed by Crackdown in October??

Phil has said a couple times that they're ahead of schedule as well so it's at least feasible. Whether that's something MS wants to do though who knows, but I think if they have the ability to get the console out ahead of the major holiday releases then it would be smart to take advantage of that.

My thoughts too especially with talk of ahead of schedule. August might be their new time to launch consoles with the highest sku followed by the lower end later.

Holiday 2017 was at the end of the E3 trailer 2016
Beside that, they also said fall in some interviews and talking about the console

As i said. Both is possible.
You just can be sure it won't be before September and it won't be after mid Novemver

Xbox one S 2 tb was August 2nd
500gb and 1 tb was mid September not mid August

I understand that. But why say holiday 2017 a year ago already. Could have said end of 2017 if earlier is possible. Holiday is november stuff.

Didn't the Xbox 360 and the Xbox one release on November 22nd? Stands to reason the Scorpio would release on the same date.

There is no downside to them releasing earlier, you guys act like only Holiday sales are important, I'm pretty MS is okay with selling a Scorpio no matter what day of the year it is.

From a pure number perspective, the more they sell the better?

About my other point, not sure if it was conveyed properly, but Destiny 2 will be a big deal for me, so Id love for it to be the show piece of "next-next-gen-but-same-gen"

Even having my 4k tv right now, but playing games that are 900, 720 seems a bit wasteful ya know what I mean.

Im really looking forward to a significant showpiece piece of software.

In a perfect world Scorpio, Destiny and my TV would all show up on my door step the same day, but clearly reality isnt that timely. Oh well, just saying, I really really hope they somehow pull a super early launch outta their butts so I can have a whole conversion at once, new game, new console

Xbox one S 2 tb was August 2nd
500gb and 1 tb was mid September

Things like that give me hope

Thinking September, since MS don't really want Sony having all the Marketing Rights being used to a huge effect. If they can launch Sep, they catch D2 and CoD at the same time, which nullifies Sony's marketing effect somewhat.
