NYT: Comey Memo Says Trump Asked Him to End Flynn Investigation

Prior to this, Mensch was known for:

1. Being moderately successful 'chick lit' author Louise Bagshawe;
2. Becoming Conservative MP for Corby, then resigning after 2 years;
3. Attempting to start Twitter rival 'Menschn', whose website contained a critical security flaw which resulted in the front page being hacked to display a man stretching open his anus

I am not sure why she is afforded credibility as an accurate source of insight into the Trump administration.

For what it's worth, she was also a founder of Heat Street, the Murdoch-backed right-wing Huffington Post competitor that gets quite a few views on its own nowadays. She since moved on but one wonders what kind of connections Mensch developed while there. I'm not giving her Pulitzer credentials here but she didn't exactly come out of nowhere.

Also? She's clearly giving some of us what we want, if not what we really need (vetted information as opposed to scuttlebutt).

You bet your ass I'm making a video to poke at the trump supporters once this is all over. This is like Curb Your Enthusiasm bait at the very least, even though that's probably already been done.

This is glorious though.. Mueller gonna get his pound of flesh as revenge for fucking over Comey, for sure.

Why does GAF get all worked up when they know there won't be any fucking consequences? This happens in every Trump thread. The cheeto will get away; don't get your hopes up.

Special counsel was just appointed to head the Russia investigation and the Comey memos demonstrating obstruction of justice have been subpoenaed. Things are happening. Real life isn't a movie, though, things take time. If you want to keep acting like this is all normal, be my guest.

The White House released a statement from President Trump on the appointment of Robert Mueller as a special counsel by the Justice Department:

“As I have stated many times, a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know – there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity. I look forward to this matter concluding quickly. In the meantime, I will never stop fighting for the people and the issues that matter most to the future of our country.”

You keep thinking that, Donny.

Not familiar with Gamer Gate. Doubt that if I looked into it'd be relevant though.

I guess the more relevant argument would simply be, look at even just the stories on the front page of her site and count the ones corroborated by anyone reliable or which have been confirmed fully. Mensch is a right wing nutjob who has found a niche peddling fake news to gullible people following the Russia stuff.

And so clearly not written or stated by him.

Per WH standards, Trump will contradict the official statement by 6AM Eastern Time.

The END OF THE VIDEO

What the fuck

WP: "We heard about this conversation."

"It's false, made-up."

WP: "Actually, we have a transcript."

"Fake transcript, never happened."

WP: "Well.... actually, we heard a recording."

"It was a joke - not serious!"

I wish they had recorded that conversation. I imagine a pained pause when WaPo said they had a recording...

I've looked at all. Unconfirmed and unproven does not me disproven. However I'm still left with this list of proven reports:

FISA confirmed. Not bullshit.
Chaffetz resignation confirmed. Not bullshit.
Grand Jury subpeonas confirmed. Not bullshit.
FBI warrants granted and executed confirmed. Not bullshit.
Trump secret plane meetings with Oligarch confirmed. Not bullshit.

No, you should read more. It seems to be a shortcoming if recent posts are any indication.

I don't think I'd be doing you any favors by "saving you time"

Read it. She had a controversial oppinion on a very controversial subject it seems, Gamer Gate. Relevant to her Russia-Trump reporting? Nope. Thanks for wasting my time, I already realize she is controversial.

I literally don't believe you.

I swear on my life that I know nothing about GamerGate. Is that so hard to beleive? I bet if I asked 20 random people on the street what GamerGate is, they wouldn't know. GAF is not real life. Apparently, me not knowing about GamerGate is MINDBLOWING NEWS to lots in this thread.

Damn can you write my book reports? You're a master at this.

Edit: To key you in on how it's relevant, latching onto conspiracy theories and spreading and digging into information where there is none can be said of her gamergate and russia investigation conduct. Couldn't find that on sparknotes could ya

It's relevant to her credibility, which is to say that if she had any she wouldn't have shilled for one of the most blatantly obvious and ridiculously inane conspiracy theories to ever exist.

I've read her reports on Russia. Many ended up confirmed and true. The rest, unconfirmed but not disproven. I've read her conspiracy theories on Russia only, and the THEORIES are based in public record facts with informed speculation. Speculation that hasn't been confirmed or disproven as well.

Since you seem to be the expert on GamerGate, I ask you with all due respect, ELI5 what she spouted as conspiracy theories in relation to GamerGate that was disproven. I'd love to be educated on the matter.

How the hell do you post on Gaf but aren't familiar with Gamergate?

I'm not as into the Gaming Side of GAF as I used to be. I use the Gaming side to find new game recomendations not to involve myself in 4chan related Gamer controversies.

If you "know nothing" about gamergate how did you know its 4chan related?

I'm aware you consider any larger context to be a waste of your time, it's why I was suggesting you read more, and not just the small amount needed to glean just enough knowledge to apply directly to the conversation you're currently attempting to "win"

That's how you do the dilettante dance, sure. But it's not really how you gain a better understanding of anything.

You should read more as to what gamergate was, how it ties into the larger political landscape we're living in, and how her reporting on that phenomenon can/should be used as context for her current reporting now.

I'm betting you didn't dig anywhere near that deep in the short amount of time it took you to come back and abandon the "friend" schtick to let me know that my refusal to "save" you time was now a "waste" of it.

Time's preciousness seems fairly elastic in this case.

If you "know nothing" about gamergate how did you know its 4chan related?

Because he just wikipedia'd "Gamer Gate" and googled "Louse Mensch + Gamer Gate" for as long as he needed to come back here and tell me what he already "knew" before running off in the first place: It doesn't matter and isn't relevant.

Basic belief or reporting in any aspect of gamergate as being revealing of some industry scandal is the problem. It was all bullshit, propped up by sexism, fear of changing demographics (sound like anyone), in order to other members of the industry and silence their voices in it. Menches participation in it on any level disqualifies her, especially now that she is pushing more conspiracy.

Now get back on topic, stop posting bullshit, stop linking to liars who helped persecute women, or get the fuck out.

Yup. That's exactly what I did. I am ASSUMING that GamerGate will give me larger context as to Mensch's character. That is, that she has controversial oppinions. This isn't news to me. I've read many Mensch articles attacking her character (not one mentioned the seemingly world-wide phenomenom of GamerGate). How any of that is relevant to her confirmed reporting on FISA, Grand Juries, Trump-Oligarch planes, Chaffetz Resignation, is still a mystery to me.

If I said something stupid and controversial like "The Holocaust Didn't Happen," does that mean that if I told you the sky was blue it is untrue?

Why does everyone have to do your homework for you?

Why does everyone have to do your homework for you?

They don't. It was a request, not a demand. ELI5 requests are viewed quite positively on Reddit. I guess posters around here aren't as forthcoming with their deep knowledge. And it wasn't a request for others to do homework, only to access their memory banks and type since they are already deeply knowledgable on the subject at hand it seems.

How the hell do you post on Gaf but aren't familiar with Gamergate?

Just throwing this out there, but I didn't know what gamergate was until the whole alt-right movement became apparent to me and people connected the two. I post on GAF a LOT, and when the Gamergate thread happened everyone was so busy talking about what they thought about it that I didn't catch what it was at a glance. But it seemed like a small thing to me, the kind of thing that GAF blows up because a lot of GAF members get easily offended. Clearly I was wrong, and it was a major event in our country's history. But anywho, I stopped paying attention and left it to its own, not thinking about it until quite a while later.

The above is almost entirely calorie-free from a conversational standpoint.

If you read more, your communication skills would likely improve.

You should read more. Not just spot-checking wikipedia with a confirmation bias for less than five minutes when challenged to educate yourself on a larger topic that is relevant to the larger context of the discussion at hand.

All of which you've now admitted to twice.

Besides: in a forum where the primary mode of communication is text (although gif & emoji are getting up there) a willingness to read for long periods of time seems like it would be helpful in general.
