NYT: Comey Memo Says Trump Asked Him to End Flynn Investigation

The above is almost entirely calorie-free from a conversational standpoint.

If you read more, your communication skills would likely improve.

You should read more. Not just spot-checking wikipedia with a confirmation bias for less than five minutes when challenged to educate yourself on a larger topic that is relevant to the larger context of the discussion at hand.

All of which you've now admitted to twice.

Besides: in a forum where the primary mode of communication is text (although gif & emoji are getting up there) a willingness to read for long periods of time seems like it would be helpful in general.

Wow. My attempt to get educated on a subject I admittedly stated as knowing nothing about and digging into the issue through the use of Wikipedia, all at your request, apparently gives you the right to criticize my communication skills. Cause you must have a deep knowledge of how well I am at communicating things right?

Then you characterize me as having to admit things twice as if I ever denied anything in the first place.

All this, while ignoring my questions on the subject at hand and still offering no reasons as to why I should think her opinions on the GamerGate controversy are at all relevent to her confirmed reporting on Trump-Russa.

How the hell do you post on Gaf but aren't familiar with Gamergate?

To be honest, I couldn't tell you what GamerGate was. I've been on GAF for years (almost exclusively OT) and I've heard the term but when I made the effort to Google it I found the whole thing so confusing that I gave up and moved on. Just because we're GAF nerds doesn't mean we're fluent on everything in the industry.

I'm not familiar with gamer gate either, I've only heard the term on gaf. I know I should look it up but I'm lazy af

It's basically where the ragtag group of pickup artists and white supremacists largely from 4chan learned how to organize and wage a cultural/political war and become the alt right we know today.

Okay, overview of gamergate.

Guy and girl are dating.

Guy and girl break up.

Girl develops game.

Girl is one of several contestants on a "game dev reality TV show."

Journalist covers game dev show.

Later, journalist and girl have relationship.

Ex-boyfriend writes 10,000 word blog post featuring emails and chat transcripts about intimite details of girl's life and sexual history and accuses girl of sleeping with journalists for favourable reviews of her free game.

The internet blows up and believes that the ex-boyfriend exposed a journalist trading review scores for sexual favours.

Journalist's editor says that relationship began after journalist stopped reporting on any stories that involved her, and points out that her game was never reviewed by journalist, or even the publication at all.

Okay. So end of the story right? Nope, people on internet become obsessed with "ethics in games jouralism" and cite some kind of anti-male feminist conspiracy that is out to destroy gaming itself and uses that to spend months and years attacking anyone who complains about waifus or space marines.

Thank you very much. I tried to stay away from that shit show, but I always was curious what it was about.

Line of succession is fucked when it involves removing the President from office. It makes sense that the President's cabinet is in the line when the President dies in office because they would supposedly share the vision of the man voted into office. When the President is a traitor undermining the democracy, his cabinet shouldn't be anywhere near the White House after the President is removed.

The next people to derail a thread about Louise Mensch are going to get a holiday. She's not reliable, but she's also not completely unreliable. That makes her questionable. It's fine if you don't believe her, but quit turning every time someone mentions her into a five page argument about her.

Get back on topic, which isn't gamergate or the reliability of Louise Mensch.

Well in this particular case you're going to see that play out to its most drastic conclusion.

Great summary.

That's not great.

Not new info. The reason as to why was implied in the NYT story:
After writing up a memo that outlined the meeting, Mr. Comey shared it with senior F.B.I. officials. Mr. Comey and his aides perceived Mr. Trump’s comments as an effort to influence the investigation, but they decided that they would try to keep the conversation secret — even from the F.B.I. agents working on the Russia investigation — so the details of the conversation would not affect the investigation.

On top of everything else that just dropped, Chafetz is leaving too?

Fuck me, this is the best news day since this shitshow started.

He did actually announce leaving a month or two ago, right around the time Comey first made a public hearing on the investigation and after the Nunes fuckery.

He made a statement about spending time with family and going into the private sector, but this is a guy who was heading the oversight cmtee specifically to investigate Hilary's emails when she won office. Now he has to investigate Trump and Russia and he CLEARLY wanted out.

I've honestly been contemplating arresting trump on one of my weekends but I am an introvert and don't really wat a parade and positive media attetion :/

Still though I might arrest him because its fully within my rights.

Wow, how close do you think youd get to him with your handcuffs on you?

Yeah, it's going to make for an easy and really shitty talking point for a while.

Good reason not to but it would have been way better if he had and they sat on it.

That was my only real point here. Conservative talking points, even though they will be rendered mostly impotent.

I just made that my Facebook cover photo. Should be some nice conversation with my conservative family.

This explains how Trump got elected. The writing was on the wall.

He could nominate one as soon as he take office, and while I don't know how long it would take it to get through the senate I can't imagine it would be more than a couple of days. It's intended to be a fast process for the sake of national security. Basically, if shit goes down they'll be able to get a new VP in place before we get President Ryan.

just want to note that a vp nomination has to be approved by both houses of congress
