30 FPS on consoles!

I didn't play D1 because I don't have a XB1 or PS4, but if I did, I don't think I would have gotten it. It kind of looked boring in the same way that Borderlands and Diablo are for me. I'm not the type of player to be pulled along just on a slightly better weapon of a small set of weapons. On top of that, the small number of classes with what looked to me are lame abilities, aren't that exciting.

The game coming out on Battle.net is fine with me. Edit: Also I think that was a smart move.

I'll probably end up picking it up after watching a quick look. Though I imagine I won't make it through the story without being bored out of my mind.

From what I'm reading on reactions, almost everything mechanics wise is the same? Is there any meat to this game? Are there going to be like 4 weapon types that just get slightly different looks with a +this or +that?

I'm not disappointed by anything I saw today. Everything looks great for Destiny (except 4v4, not sure how I feel about that). I just didn't see the 2 in Destiny 2, and perhaps they are saving it for E3.

Plenty of people here love it too Glam, don't worry. :)

Honestly, sounds like Destiny isn't your type of game.

I don't think most Destiny fans will agree, but I'm with you. I got used to it, but man I hated it at first. 4v4 sounds like it'll offer much better pacing. The 3v3 modes in D1 were always my favorite.

That's fine if people don't agree but I hope they look at it more like bungie is willing to take a risk and change the game in a big way if they feel the game will be better for it.
Also I think starting with 4v4 base and having a crazy event mode that is 6v6 is a lot better than what D1 does and that is pretty much play trails when it's up if you want less chaos.

I'll laugh and get sad real quick if 4 v 4 still has lag issues

That shit better be super smooth

Removing 4 players and adjusting maps to this player count better be worth it

I have mixed feelings about 4v4. The extra two means that players like Kadey can build a team with mixed player skills because whatever. 4v4 means more hardcore.

Eh well won't know it till we try it.

Raids are not 4-5 hours long, specially if you're going with people that already know what to do

I could have easily said 2-3hrs, same difference for me. I play destiny 1hr or so at a time. I love the game but rarely have more then 2hrs to sit down and play a game.

I didn't mean it to sound like I was upset about it, destiny is my favorite game even considering I never finished a raid. I get my fun from other parts of it.

Damn 4k on PC. Ill have to try and see the best framerate I can get with 4k or else ill go with something else @60fps.

Destiny 2 can easily be bigger than COD in sales, Will it be? who knows

Just by making a great game is how they keep people coming back. Nothing manipulated by that.

I have no doubt we will get more about the Traveler and the Darkness.

Could it happen? Maybe. A team could also keep LeBron out of the finals, I suppose. I wouldn't bet against COD after the last decade of people expecting this to be the year something topples it.

One of the devs said when showcasing one of those planets that it was the biggest they've ever done. We don't know shit yet.
It's funny to use 2014 examples but some are jumping the gun on things nobody except for Bungie themselves know about.

The raw size doesn't matter at all. What is important is whether each location is interesting enough to maintain the player's attention level and offset the low count.

I remember wasting time just trekking back and forth in D1 and being bored out of my mind. If D2 is similar with all that dead space then it should get ripped apart.

Once again limited by current hardware. Scorpio won't be able to take advantage of 60fps because it will give a gameplay advantage over other players using the Xbox One

The game looks legit good. A lot of people of GAF just really hate Destiny and this is a great opportunity for them to voice their opinion.

Absolutely! But we're beyond that now, and the people feeling a little disappointed were expecting big changes worthy of a sequel, rather than elements like matchmaking and no more returning to orbit first that could (and should) have been patched into the first game years ago.

Last-gen is a HUGE reason why many of the structural limitations of Destiny 1 are the way they are, and Destiny 1 on last-gen was being supported up until very recently, and stil was to an extent after RoI shipped, which didn't support last-gen due to the raid.

This is the first major piece of Destiny content that has been built from the ground up knowing they wouldn't have to support PS3/360 whatsoever.

So does everybody think those are the only 4 planets in the game? That and one raid makes it a pass for me. They also didn't address the loot system which I thought was crap in the first game.

The cabal expliticly stealing or moving or doing whatever with the traveler isn't expanding the story of the traveler?

It is, sure, but it's not what the original story direction was... are we ever going to deal with The Darkness again???

I'm just having a hard time letting go.

It's like in the first few hours of Destiny you battled off this overwelming force that was about to consume the solar system, that was hunting the traveler. You fight it off (what felt like "for now") and then skirmish with the other alien races from that point on... and we are starting a new game and that's still the plot. The Darkness was the real threat in the beginning, and they just threw that away...

Why should it?

1 raid at launch is /perfectly/ acceptable. The raid is only part of endgame, and the reveal showed us there is a lot more density in terms of activities and quests etc...

People need to check their expectations a little I think. What they've shown so far is an absolutely reasonable amount of content for the type of game this is.

But that's never going to happen. The never-ending problem with all MMOs is producing content and having enough that players feel like there's enough variety that everything doesn't get stale quickly. Early Destiny 1 definitely had the problem of everything feeling samey and grindy with very little feeling difference between some of the things you did but everyone agreed the Vex Raid was a slam dunk in being creative and unique.

There really shouldn't be any disagreement over people wanting more of that kind of thing. More well-designed raids is ideally what everyone should want.

Actually there are revamped weapon slots and I was seeing all sorts of new stuff on the HUD during game play that imply new weapon perks and mechanics.

Seems like there's something like a Super Select? Seemed like players were using multiple different supers in game instead of locked to one.

If people really care about that sort of depth there might be something there. I'd wait on YouTubers and Reddit to tear into the new game.

Couldn't agree more. 6v6 should be a side mode, not the norm. I'm curious to hear from more diehard Destiny fans familiar with the PvP scene -- was this something that people wanted? Why do yall think Bungie lowered the player count?

We don't know yet but if it's the same empty tedious stuff again I agree with you.
I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt right now simply because they can't be that stupid to make the same mistakes they've been grilled over for in the past 3 years.

To be honest the engine doesn't look all that much different, on the surface anyway.

I think they have to find a fair balance between delivering something that is recognizable and new as well. If they went off the rails and changed all of the UI, gameplay mechanics, shooting, etc. It wouldnt be Destiny anymore. This game has a huge following and you cant risk alienating those fans by reworking the entire game.

The stuff that has changed with the engine is not going to be something we see from a live stream. Its going to be through the changes they make to the game after launch through events, adding new world bosses, etc. These are things that D1 could not do without massive work being done. (Theres a Kotaku article that goes in depth about the issue, I dont have time to find it now).

I'm thinking about it, and hmm... Yup, I still want 60 FPS on Scorpio, please.

No chance pro or Scorpio will run at 60 FPS with lots of enemies and AI with shit Jaguar CPU's.

Maybe next gen when we get proper power level CPU's.

They could of done crucible at 60 though with dedi servers.
