Destiny 2 Reveal Livestream [Over]

Although I wished it was bigger, I'll be happy with that as long as the patrol content in D2 is fun and interesting rather than the boring ones we got in D1.

The biggest thing that would probably impress you then is that the patrols are now seamless with the missions and strikes. No more going to orbit and back to load up the strike where you're standing at the front door.

Eh, I know it's a sequel and all, but looks way too samey. UI looks the same, same enemies(which I was already sick of), same classes, etc. Not confident they learned their lesson on content, but I'll hope for the best. Also, only 4v4 pvp sucks

Not sure about 4x4 but loved everything they showed. Hyped.

I'm wondering if they're going for 30 PVE, 60 PVE? Dropping 1/3 the players in PVP is going to give them a lot of overhead. Assuming the new shaders and particle effects don't eat up a shit ton more.

If I had to guess, it might be a reason why. But they're still targeting it.

Loved the focus on the city. Watching the Risen become guardians, seeing them interact with civilians - I bet Zavala does tours of the Tower during school trips.

And cheers for Lord Shaxx. So good, I am fucking hyped.

DGaf, this Warlock is ready roll.

I keep hearing "if you've played the game..." as if this isn't a sequel meant to bring new people in. The presentation did a very bad job of making those who haven't played Destiny feel welcome and the game itself does just seem like Destiny 1: But Better. That's not a bad thing, mind you, but can you not see how some might not be enthused if they weren't before?

The number of "we'll enjoy the fun without you :)" type posts from Destiny fans in this thread don't help either.
If this presentation did nothing for them then I don't know why they were excited in the first place. This is Destiny, this is the core of the game, the fundamentals of its existence.

20 million isn't just hype alone. Expansions dominating digital storefronts for several months after release, even when the SKUs on platforms with significantly higher install bases have been dropped isn't just hype alone. Reprints with expansion codes included charting on NPD and other sales charts when there are cheaper digital upgrade options isn't just hype alone. Don't be disingenuous, Destiny is a behemoth and that isn't stopping any time soon
I said millions, not all 20 million. A big percentage of Destiny's initial sales were players who grew up with Halo and combine that with 4 platforms then you will generate a good chunk of sales on hype alone. I was one of those players who bought it at launch and was hugely disappointed.

Destiny was a disappointment in everyway for me and Bungie are not the same innovative developer they were when developing the Halo games. I wonder what content will be cut out to sell for DLC this time around?

Is there are grimoire card for it?

This is hilarious considering Destiny pioneered SO MANY things like raids and the mmolite FPS on consoles. The division showed just how hard it is to make a game like destiny and imo was a shadow of what destiny is and was very disappointing.

You are going to be really disappointed when Destiny 2 crushes Destiny 1s sales. The writing is on the wall.

I hate this narrative that people are so dumb, gullible, ignorant, etc, that Bungie is like, the wizard of oz, fooling them into playing the game like they had mind control over them and then really behind the curtain is a pile of trash.

People like Destiny. They are not forcing you to like it. How many times do people have to try to make something about how THEY feel? It is like you don't even realize how ridiculous you sound, trying to spread negativity, to minimize something because YOU don't like it. It's immature.

Now you're backpedaling. Every major release is boosted by hype during its initial launch. That's how these things work. But you claimed the game wasn't a beast and was only big because of Bungie/Halo hype. 20 million copies in 3 years is a monster. There are no two ways about it. The game not meeting YOUR gameplay/story expectations is an entirely different topic.

So hunter gets a bladedancer with a staff super? Really?

Hunter weak again confirmed.

Warlock gets flying super with a flaming sword and self heal/ attack buff as a special??

Warlock OP once again. Great.

- Gunslinger subclass is in, largely the same with some new perks.
- Throwing Knife has a perk to make it explosive, hits the chest, explodes for bonus damage.
- Grenades are the same
- Class skill for Hunters is a dash similar to Shadestep. Easier to track, but the dash refills your magazine.
- Power Weapon ammo was up within the first 30 seconds of the match.

Ok. After watching this stream I have to say. Destiny 2 is looking good without a doubt. Certainly looking like Bungie is learning from the mistakes made with Destiny 1. A ton of my issues with 1 appear to be fixed with 2. Really can't wait for the world exploration stuff. Adding lost sectors (Dungeons) is something I dreamed of with the first game.

I for one don't miss the posts about the grand wizard Bungie tricking everyone with the Skinner box gameplay. We were all just being tricked!

Probably the biggest disappointment to me is the lack of new enemy races. Would of been cool to have someone new to fight (and not just reskins like the Taken). Overall looks good though. Basically just more Destiny, which is fine by me.

Did they mention new vehicles or ships at all? One of my biggest disappointments in the original game was that the ships we're basically just window dressing, and not actually something you could fly around in.

this game went full fucking mmo and I love it

totally hyped for the clan support and everything in game finally.

Everything is such a huge refinement over the original destiny experience........which is exactly what I wanted

I have never heard that kind of thing. Maybe with DLC content. Personally I think two is better because like I said, it allows raiding to have a little more longevity if you can a do second raid if all you really ever do is PvE stuff.

That's what I thought, and what I feel. This was the response for what it's worth, username withheld because it really doesn't matter and I'm not looking to call anyone out!

"Eh, MMO type games generally never have more than one "main" raid at a time. Partly because raids take a lot of manpower to put together, but also because you're splitting the focus of both the playerbase and the dev team as to what's the current endgame."

I conceded the point because like I said, I don't know a lot about MMOs in general (and looking at it it seems they're referring to DLC more than a full game launch, which is what I was talking about).Hopefully the dungeon lost sector things they talked about could be a raid lite type thing. I really love the raids, and anything that can evoke that feeling would be great. Even if they made smaller or shorter (4 man, 3 man, only 1 boss encounter, etc.) raid type things that would be awesome.

They went by fast, but there was at least one tank being controlled, and I could have sworn I saw a sparrow firing a missile.

Some PvP news that has me soured now:

-4v4 across all PvP game modes which is already known, Means RIP Crucible trains
-Heavy Ammo only allotted to the person who picks it up, which is good to stop 12 people having rockets and machine guns up at a point, but since your Sniper, Shotgun and Fusion are all heavy weapons now, only one person will have that any any given point. Which makes the game less "play how you want" like the first and more "play like Halo Reach" with one power weapon on map and abilities everywhere.
-Titan/Warlock skating got canned. So RIP interesting movement mechanics.

Overall looks like they're trying to get Halo players back, which is cool for Halo players, but not so cool for people who liked Destiny more. It's not like they're letting people maintain accuracy while they jump so it'll just be Halo but dumber.

I'm not even sure what you're trying to say here to be honest. Why wouldn't people be excited for a sequel that could potentially fix many of the fundamental issues they had with the predecessor?

More Destiny is fine, same as how more World of Warcraft is fine, but those who aren't 'in' with the Destiny gameplay, lore and world complaining that they aren't being catered to are not wrong.

This is such a weird reveal.

Hey guys, we have a new campaign! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Strikes are back! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
More cinematics than ever! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Crucible is now all about the PvP player! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
There's a new RAID! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

...

I mean, it is Destiny 2, right?

That looked uninspired frankly

I really thought they would try to reinvent the game since the first was obviously highly comprimised by bad tech

Nice gfx, more set pieces and more cutscenes (why?) sure
Where is
- piloting ships?
- real planet exploration?
- SOMETHING new

This really feels like destiny 1.5 with better tech. It even has the sameish areaa, meny system and enemies

Well i didnt like the first game and i guess this is not either for me then

Guess my class...

Let's just see if the players hubs can have more than 12 or whatever the number was in D1 before we can say stuff like that

They really didn't show anything major. I expect that's gonna be in e3, but overall i agree looks like 1.5.

Quite honestly if you didn't like the first game you weren't going to like the second. There's a reason the first one has like 20 million total players and it's not because of ship combat.

What do you mean "real planet exploration"? Did you pay attention to the stream at all? They revamped the open world, you have NPCs giving you quests, ruins and other shit to find out, there is exploration.

I would have guessed that hunters got a sword and worlocks got a staff. Makes way more sense that way. But whatever, as long as it's fun.

I'll do a big summary thread later, but not until after the NPD report, so that we have enough time to collect all the relevant information.

I mean, if you leave out all the other new stuff/additions they are making to the game yeah. It's gonna be a Destiny game that actually has content to support it longer from day 1. Or what Destiny 1 should of been.
