I only saw the first 2 pirate movies, so i need to catch up on the others. Plus i am still over Depp just being weird as a character motivation

I gave up on the series after part 3. I have fond memories of the original, but I can't even remember what happened in 2 or 3. I have zero interest in this movie :(

Im extremely hyped. I loved the first 3 very much and liked the 4th one but it wasnt as good. I'll probably be seeing it next week.

Nope. The films have been increasingly appalling since Black Pearl. They've long since become a case study for vomitous excess and directionless storytelling.

My hype levels are near zero. The first two were a ton of fun. At World's End is a convoluted mess. And On Stranger Tides is just terribly forgettable. At this point, I'm not really expecting a resurgence in quality.

it's crazy to me that the last film made over a billion USD and yet i've witnessed barely any hype and minimal marketing for this

Pretty crazy that the first Pirates was fourteen years ago.

Also, I'm not sure it's the last one - this movie's director is hoping it's just "the beginning of the final adventure."

It's difficult to ever know. I think that there's always... this is the beginning of the finale. It depends on how you look at it. But I never take anything for granted, and I love the franchise. These kinds of movies, they remind me of the kind of movies I grew up with, those kind of adventure movies that made me want to become a filmmaker. So for me to be able to be a part of this and direct a Pirates of the Caribbean is a dream come true. But I don't know if it's the last one, or if they'll make another ten of them. I don't know! But I hope so!"

All the villains, except for the tentacle one,are a blur to me. I saw the trailer and I thought it was just the first pirates remastered or some shit like that.

I'm looking forward to it, I always manage to get some enjoyment out of this series. It's a shame they never managed to top the first film though.

That fourth movie really poisoned the water for me. Just a bad movie all around.

Might see this as a rental or on Netflix, I'm sure it's still a fun action romp, but I'm not rushing out to see it.

Hype thrusters are going full blast. I love these movies and it doesn't hurt to get some historical fantasy up in here.

Why would anyone believe any sort of marketing speak that this is the "last one"? I haven't been following it at all, but the 4th movie had no real overarching plot and most loose ends were tied up in the 3rd movie anyway. Any sort of finality here would probably be pretty contrived, I feel like you've just been baited by marketing.

I'm pretty hyped. The initial trailer gave me Pirates 1 vibes, and I liked 1-3 enough to watch them repeatedly as a kid. 4 was hot garbage (and I only saw it in bits and pieces), but this movie already looks way better than that.

yup, I'm hyped to watch this on 7 dollar Sunday, because full price is not going to happen. I like the idea but I dont care for Orlando bland.

I maintain that Curse of the Black Pearl is our generation's Raider's of the Lost Ark. I love Curse of the Black Pearl. By whatever miracle that movie turned out as great as it did, I am sure we won't see it again in the series.

Dead Man's Chest and At World's End are all right as a two-part story, but AWE jumps the shark and goes too far beyond the previously established constraints of the fantasy. Once you had a towering sea-giant turning into a mountain of crabs and a naval battle on the inside of a whirlpool, I think the series abandoned the fantasy it started out with.

I couldn't even watch On Stranger Tides. I've seen parts of it plenty of times but it's terrible. Jack Sparrow is not a character who can sustain his own movie.

I don't know what to think about Pirates 5, especially since the CG is so... uncompelling. I think Javier Bardem looks so bad. It's straight up Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland-style and it makes everything feel so hokey and insincere.

I'll give it a shot. It's been a long time. If Fast and the Furious taught me anything, it's that sometimes series can pick up at the fifth go of it.

This honestly looks like a complete rehash of the first movie in terms of plotline.

I'll see it because of the further adventures of the best pirate put to screen though.

Trailers look pretty bad, with Bardem especially giving off an "unintentionally funny" vibe.

The only good movie in this series is the first one, which is great. The rest, frankly, have been shitty. My love for the first still gives me hope that they can make a decent flick out of this, but what I've seen so far hasn't left me optimistic.
