Lmao. It just keeps getting better and better.

God, I'm not saying this to get my hopes, but at least let this fucking guy lose tomorrow. He's going to basically get away scot-free from an assault charge because he's buddies with the sheriff. At least let him lose the goddamn election. I know he...probably still will win, but just an ounce of justice here is all I want to see.

Fox News account of the incident just sealed the deal.

He is toast. Or fucking should be except for the let's not inconvenience rich important people unless absolutely forced to.

Do people not understand what local affiliates are?

? These Fox links are to Fox News. Not the local affiliate. The local affiliate there is something like ABCFox.

Of course the witness account could come from affiliates, but it is still shocking to see reported without much BS on the main Fox website.

Smart move, Fox:

- Election that would be embarrassing for the GOP to lose is looking a little too close.
- Channel losing viewers for failing to report on GOP controversy.
- Report first on GOP controversy in potentially embarrassing race.
- If the win is razor thin or the GOP candidate loses it can be blamed on candidate's behavior and not the GOP on the whole.
- Look 'Fair and Balanced.'

This is from fucking FOX. Whoa. Good for them for not just brushing this off.

For as in the tank for the GOP as Fox is, this makes sense for 2 reasons. One, this is a scoop they have that no one else does. That's important from a purely monetary/traffic perspective. And two, even though most people correctly don't believe it, this helps them keep up their whole "fair and balanced" BS. "See, we will call Republicans out when they deserve it!"

No way he gets off, not with witnesses in the room willing to talk. If this guy wins they'll have to schedule another special election though.

Or reporters from Fox News don't much care for reporters getting assaulted either.

The only people that will fall for that are the same ones sucking up their drivel for decades now anyway.

Damn, this story breaks on GAF before most of the internet reports on it. Great job OP.

I'm sure a few others in the thread do the same, but I follow something like 130 reporters on Twitter. Most are DC based, but many are national, international, or regional. News circulates very quickly when you travel the right circles.

TBH your probably really overthinking it. Fox reporters were involved in a big story and they put their experience on their website. I don't know how many dimensions are involved in choosing what makes the front page of their website, but probably not this many so soon after the event.

I don't know if it's all that complicated. Even though Fox is Fox, they are reporters, too. I think a lot of those people, especially those doing the actual footwork on the ground, don't want to see that happen, because they probably are smart enough to know that when such precedents are set, it's not going to be far off that they're in the crossfire at some point.

At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the man, as he moved on top the reporter and began yelling something to the effect of "I'm sick and tired of this!"
To be clear, at no point did any of us who witnessed this assault see Jacobs show any form of physical aggression toward Gianforte, who left the area after giving statements to local sheriff's deputies.

Definitely sounds like it backs up Jacob's story, lines up with the audio, and is yet again another source that contradicts Gianforte's camp's statement.
