Wonder Woman (DCCU) Review Thread (RT 93%)

I wonder how much of Justice League's polishes & rewrites were a quick attempt to recenter the film less on Bruce's bullshit and more on Diana.

Because it really, really seems like if the DCEU is going to have a beating heart, it's not going to belong to Bruce or Clark.

Meeeeh, it depends on how they treat Bruce now that he's over his malaise. But yes, they'd better give Diana the biggest fucking role possible.

It felt like Zack Snyder and co. have been centering her on the DCEU. Like, literally centering her. For as little as she is in BvS, many of the posters and ads place her in front and in between Batman and Superman. For Justice League, she's often shown in the front and center of the others.

Not calling for crow. Just pointing out that people like to give off hot takes when actors are announced for roles, not fully understanding why someone was cast.

We just recently had that shit with the Han Solo set photos thread.

Agreed.

Man, I really like Batman's Rebirth suit. Classic look with subtle changes (that bat emblem).

Maybe. It would be nice to see the DCEU recover.

Unless they are heavily invested in Marvel vs DC fanboy wars, I don't think anyone really wants a decade of shitty DC movies. Between this, Wan's Aquaman, Batgirl, and others, at least there's some optimism now.

It's going to be massively depressing to see all the good will that Patty Jenkins creates with this movie come crashing down when Justice League releases.

But I have faith in Wan and Whedon on Aquaman and Batgirl.

Ok so guys, now that it's a proven great movie...

When is it OK to become furious Wonder Woman is basically a better Superman than Superman ?

Fuck sake man. =(

Patty please save Man of Steel 2.

People, including myself, have been saying Captain America is a better Superman than Superman. It's not a stretch that Wonder Woman would be too.

So what happens to the "Marvel paid the critics" crew? My bet is that they'll say Marvel either ran out of bribe money, or that journalists gained integrity.

The Associated Press - via the StarTribune (Bobby look)!

Yet, like the heroine at its center, "Wonder Woman" the movie rises with powerful grace above the noise. It's not perfect, but it's often good, sometimes great and exceptionally re-watchable.

Director Patty Jenkins' film is so threaded with sincerity and goodness it's a wonder how it got past the pugnacious minds responsible for what's come before. "Wonder Woman" evokes not only the spirit of Richard Donner's "Superman," but also Joe Johnston's "Captain America: The First Avenger," while still being its own thing. Just look to the image of Gal Gadot confidently striding out alone onto an unwinnable battlefield with only a shield, a sword and a mission — and prevailing. It's enough to give you goosebumps.

Sounds like this movie is more Donner than Snyder. And it's getting overwhelming praise.

Does that mean I can ask for a Superman that is more Donner than Snyder without getting shit for being stuck in the past? Or crying "not muh superman" for not enjoying the "masterpiece" that is Man of Steel?

I hope they learn the right lessons from this film and it performs well at the box office.

This makes the way they handled Superman even more embarrassing.

Can we get a Superman who's actually Superman now?

I'm sure Gal will end up with the second most screentime, with Mamoa right behind her, but there's no way Bruce isn't the main character

They paid a lot of money for Affleck, didn't they?

Also he's frigging Batman. No way is he not going to be the main character at this point.
