Wonder Woman (DCCU) Review Thread (RT 93%)

Wait, so with the amount of reviews in and it firmly being in the 90s on RT what usually happens in these situations when all is said and done? Does it typically stay in the 90s?

All she did was share what a friend told her and people lost their collective minds, and then made it seem like she was the one who had inside info and she was the one who thought it was shit.

Again: If she didn't want to eat that shit, then maybe she shouldn't have shared that in front of a fuckin' camera with live microphones going.

It's not like people don't realize the show is watched by hundreds of thousands of people who notice things like that and will share them.

That's kinda the whole point of their show.

It's likely to stay pretty high unless a relatively large influx on negative reviews begin pouring in.

Real story here is that they learned from the mistakes of the past three films. Sad part is it seems we are only going to get marvel style.

Marvel. Does. Not. Own. A. Style.

The MCU has avoided stakes and generally made their characters quippier than they were on the page, but there's a lot of difference in tone and even genre identity among those films.

Watch all three Captain America films in order. A cheesy-but-fun period WWII piece, a modern day spy thriller and an ensemble action tentpole. These have less in common with each other than practically every direct sequel line you will find in film.

If your idea of "Marvel style" is as base as "it's funnier", than I don't know what to tell you.

I think a lot of the lower-tier local critics/freelancers (heyoooo it's a me!) would have to take a pretty huge dump on it for the score to drop below 85 at this point?

I dont' know if that happens too frequently, though. Where the Top Critics come out fairly unanimously in favor of a film and the stringers hold the opposite stance.

it'll settle at 85-90% imo.

What was his review like, btw.
Liked it, said it isn't a top 10 comic movie like "Dark Knight, Avengers, Logan, etc"
Said it is the next tier with Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spiderman 1.

Also despite his hatred of Gal said she was good,
He thinks a better actor could have done more still but Gal really pulled off what she was given.

Popular superhero movies usually have between 250 and 300 reviews.

There is plenty of time for it to swing. It will most likely not stay in the 90s. Depending on the reviews that drop tomorrow, it may not stay in the 80s, but that is looking increasingly unlikely.

The fact that the average rating is sitting at 7.9 right now indicates that it should hold fairly well. It's not only getting fresh reviews but very positive reviews at that. Films that have a good % but just an OK average rating tend to take larger dips.

Maybe I just have issues with someone having to eat shit for something they didn't actually do. I guess Mark is gonna have to eat shit for saying The Last Jedi sucked.

The average suggests high 80s to mid 90s. It really depends on the number of 2/5 reviews that trickle in.

I am rooting for 95%, since both The Dark Knight and the MCU (Iron Man 1) topped out at 94%. Might as well make this thread the antithesis of the BvS one.

The only style Marvel have is making entertaining movies that review well and do well at the BO.

Needs more reviews... still feels like cherry picking the top reviews right now. I only see 40 reviews when most do like 140 to 200.

forreal? that movie was boring as hell.

The picture is based on "movies that are generally regarded as being great and also very well-reviewed," such as Doctor Strange with its 90% on RottenTomatoes, not "movies Discotheque likes."

Mainly because that would be a weird picture and probably include one of the girls from Sucker Punch or something.

RT early consensus

Critics Consensus: Thrilling, earnest, and buoyed by Gal Gadot's charismatic performance, Wonder Woman succeeds in spectacular fashion.

Maybe I just have issues with someone having to eat shit for something they didn't actually do.

But she did do it. She volunteered that information. She didn't have to. But she did. And it turns out that information was bullshit. That's on her.

I guess Mark is gonna have to eat shit for saying The Last Jedi sucked.

If Mark is relaying bad information from a supposed "insider" and it turns out that insider is full of shit, then yes, he will have purchased himself a forkful.

That show needs to stop fucking with "Scoops" and "insider news" because they're bad at it. They're not built for it and they screw it up a lot.

She was saying it. She didn't have to share that tidbit. Nobody made her.

Schmoes/Collider have made that mistake multiple times. Campea's had to apologize for doing that exact same stupid fucking thing at least twice that I can think of.

If you don't trust the "scoop," and you don't even like the scoop, how about you just... sit on it, then.

Especially since that crew's track record on early word/early news is pretty goddamn low.

Campea normally prefaces his with "I am not a scoop guy this is totally not fact not official etc." so I can't get mad at him if the Internet ignores all that to make a headline. I mean what more can you do to make people know this is just casual word of mouth you're hearing?

This will finish with more than 300 reviews on RT

Everyone is there to review big comic films. BvS got 358
