Sorry but I think when you make it clear that this is not concrete info and just general word of mouth you cover your butt from this sort of criticism.
This doesn't cover his ass at all. Because he doesn't
have to share his inaccurate news, no matter how shoddily he tries to absolve himself of the responsibility for sharing it
He's benefitting off the general naivete of YouTube viewers who don't know any better that the only person you blame for sharing bad information on a media platform is the person who is choosing to share the information.
He can try to push it off on his anonymous source if he wants but nobody is
making him share that bullshit in the first place, so his "source" isn't the problem here. The problem is his inability to either a) recognize bad info and just push it to the side or b) his ability to not
care whether what he's about to say is horseshit so long as it gets him views.
Those are the two options.
Let's put it this way. Let's say some dink who doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about "leaks" you some info about an upcoming game or whatever. And you're like "I'm not very good at this, and I don't know if it's true or not, but I sure would love to get the attention that comes with telling other people about this
in the off chance this person isn't bullshitting me.
So you decide that it's probably best to share this horseshit with people here on GAF. And you start a thread, and you put all your disclaimers up front, and you type your stuff. And it turns out what you shared is total trash because the person who told you is a confused dickhead.
You think saying "but some confused dickhead told me!" is really going to cause everyone who was reading to go "Oh, well, okay, I'm sorry man, it sucks that your gullible ass got fed a line of crap by a shiesty nimrod."
That's not going to happen.
And it shouldn't happen with Campea/Collider, especially not after literally
years of their being really fucking terrible at it and almost always getting it wrong.
