Wonder Woman (DCCU) Review Thread (RT 93%)

The inclusion of Lego Batman is fucking brilliant.

I'm sure they all survived with horrible burns and missing limbs and eyelids. No killing.

Cop: Commisioner, why are the GCPD openly working with a man who publically leaves a pile of charred corpses in his wake wherever he goes?

Commisioner Gordon: Fuck knows, m8.

I was really excited about Amy Adams as Lois when she was first cast, but she's been letting me down ever since.

I think the problems with Lois have come down to how she's been written, moreso than Amy's performance. I think she does the absolute best with what she's being given.

Like all you need is Enchantress and maybe Diablo's god form even though he's still weak. Even if you need skilled specialists why the fuck do you need an insane clown with a bat and a shitty bank robber with a boomerang and a big guy with a skin condition. Don't forget the man who can climb anything.

The original intent of the team - to be a black OPs team that we don't care about sending on impossible missions because no one will miss them - works much better with the tone they were trying to set with the intro and the self-reflective bar scene. The anti-alien squad mess just became more silly when Waller created the calamity that they ended up having to fight, and their first 'successful' mission was pulling her ass out of the fire.

They especially mentioned Amy Adams when talking about bringing the actors together for the re-shoots. So I'm guessing that her scenes will be changed or extended.

I agree with you that problems primarily come down to the writing, but I still feel her performance has been a bit lacking. If she appeared in better-written movies though, I'd probably feel more generous towards Adams, for sure.

If Justice League was sailing for shit island before he came on board there is nothing Whedon could do to divert that course.

Apparently they've shot enough to make 2 films out of Justice League, and now with the new reshoots and Whedon being brought on board, I bet they have enough footage to make 3 movies.

Besides, it's the "character moments" these movies are missing, not the action.

The ship maybe heavily flawed, but I think Whedon can steer it away from hitting the Iceberg.

And in particular, that it was the creation of the team that wound up 'justifying' the team's existence.

I mean, the post-credits sequence ultimately contextualises this whole point - in that it's to basically justify the Justice League as a much better alternative - but versus the original premise of the comic and general concept it's just weird in terms of placement in the wider DCEU.

I will admit I was quite impressed how they managed to take the premise of "supervillains turned into unwilling black ops team to handle suicide missions" and still somehow managed to have a world-destroying CGI villain with a blue sky beam as the climax.

Unlike that other guy.

And just like that I'm back on the 'let the DCEU burn' train.

As good as Wonder Woman's portrayal seems to be they're stuck with such crap interpretations of so many characters. It's a good thing Wonder Woman wasn't a large part of BvS because I'm sure they would have found a way for me to hate her.

I'd much rather that talented directors could handle the characters they love the way they'd like to, rather than be handed awful versions.

That article was proven to be inaccurate, I believe. The reshoots happening in the near future are the first reshoots for the film.

Mate stop spreading that shit

Those rumours are 100% false

Secondary photography hasn't even begun on Justice League yet.
That's what Whedon is coming on to do

There have been no justice league reshoots yet. Hell most people knew it was false cause ALL of the main cast were busy at the time

Come on, it's not all bad.

Remember when Jimmy Olsen got shot point-blank in the head 2 minutes after he was introduced?

What a fun gag.

Just unlocked the movie costume in Injustice 2 =)
That'll keep me occupied for a few days while the rest of GAF watches the movie before me.

Batfleck Batman is such a killling monster. Look how he is enjoying it.

I don't like Batman killing but I've always been fine with it in the Burton films because look at him... That nice serial-killer is having so much fun! Awww...

Is Joss Whedon even making changes to Justice League? I would think this is still a Snyder film 100%.

He was already brought onboard to help tweak the film apparently. Now he'll just be handling the additional shooting that was more or less already planned.

good to know

I wasn't sure, which is why I classified them as a rumor instead of stating it as fact

If this rumor is true...
http://www.slashfilm.com/justice-league-reshoots-rumor/

As shitty as it sounds, I think they found a way to help Synder save face for stepping down as Director.

If the rumor is true, then Synder's Justice League wasn't what the execs at WB wanted.
If it was a good movie, it would be done by now, but

-They've had reshoots that has "essentially remade the movie twice"
-They brought on Joss Whedon
-And there are more reshoots

WB needs this to be huge, and with Synder at the helm they were bleeding money. At the same time they need to meet there November release date. I'm not sure how much Whedon can salvage in that time, but things were obviously not working with Synder.

Time will tell if the reshoots for JL will give us Suicide Squad or Rogue One.

Dude, fucking stop. Multiple people on the last page told you that this was a fake rumor, and you're still posting it.

No reshoots have occured yet. The ones Joss Whedon was brought in for will be the first reshoots for Justice League.

I really hope if this movie is as good as the reviews seem to be saying that there aren't too many connections to the dumpster fire that is the rest of the DCEU.

This thread's been quite tame since I last checked in.

I sincerely hope this isn't a Doctor Strange situation, though. That got 90% with a 7.3 average rating and was really quite... eh.

Pretty sure he is just finishing the movie but more than likely won't make any major changes except at most a comedic scene or some dialogue at most but that will likely be unintentional

"Whoops I accidentally inserted seven comedic scenes into this quarter of a billion dollar movie."

Wait, there are still people out there who believe BvS is the first time Batman has killed?

This tangent is probably one not worth going down but Batman's no kill rule is a huge part of the character. There have been exceptions but they're exactly that - exceptions. "b-but when he was created he shot people". Yeah, and guess what, he didn't have his origin story of his parents being murdered in those formative years either. Superman couldn't fly, and he didn't have heat vision. But all of these things are now core character traits, 80 years later.

Saying Batman kills is like saying Superman can't fly. It's intentionally disingenuous and wrong.
