Wonder Woman (DCCU) Review Thread (RT 93%)

I'm more confused by the people getting upset that there is some discussion about other DC movies in a DC verse review thread.

Most of the discussion has been pretty good and not much attacking or fighting. Conversation is gonna naturally move to other aspects of the DC verse.

It's especially hard to keep discussing the movie when very few of us have even seen it. This is Page 43 about a series of reviews we've been discussing for a while now.

There's no need for a select few people start swearing in outrage when people end up discussing the DCEU as a whole. I get that this should be a conversation about Wonder Woman, but every few pages or so, like with any other thread, the conversation will flow in a different direction from time to time. It seems a weird thing to get openly hostile about.

Is this the fucking Wonder Woman thread or not?

Why the fuck am I reading about Batman salt? Fuck off with that.

So what would you like people to talk about? The movie they haven't seen, or all things Wonder Woman?

It's part of the DCEU, and people are discussing that - so what else is there to talk about?

What's with this nonsense about thread derailing?

Wonder Woman is not out in cinemas and we've talked long enough about the reviews that are out, what else do you possibly want to discuss other than the Detective Comics Extended Cinematic Universe??

How is it derailing when you're discussing the things happening in the film that precedes it? Jesus christ some people just need to feel like they're mods.

Want to talk about the reviews? Fine, go ahead, no one is stopping you. There's little else you can discuss though until you know, the movie is out.

Any Wonder Woman characters/villains we'd like to see in the sequel?

Personally I'm rooting for Cheetah. Veronica Cale would also be great for a modern story.

I don't think he can be the main villain but Dr Psycho seems like a character that would fit very well into the modern DCEU.

I just hope it is something smaller in scope.

But knowing DC it will be like Amazons vs Atlantis flashpoint style

But he did... Jesus Fucking Christ. How about you not distill the entire end to just that? What you lament he didn't do is exactly what he did in the movie. He did realize he'd become the monster he swore to fight against. The name thing simply got him to stop end the immediate frenzy and set him on the path. Someone else's mother in danger right then and needing his help also helped the change. But really it was Superman becoming the beacon of hope by sacrificing everything proved him entirely wrong and was what turned him completely at the end of the movie.

That's exactly what happened in that scene though. The execution wasn't great but I thought it was obvious that was the message being portrayed.

Sorry...
although that is what happened the execution made it feel hollow.

Again I actually like that they explored it in BvS, and where they were going with it, i just personally felt they didn't stick the landing.

Superman did it for Lois. he didn't care.

Like, what are these awful horrifying things being said in this thread to deserve being locked? lol. Most people are just having fun going a little offtopic until more news about the movie come out.

Yeah it was definitely Devin and not the ACTUAL BAD MOVIES that those rumors revolved around.

Agreed. I liked Faraci's writing and thought, for the most part, he actually was pretty fair with the DCU.

He was one of the critics who went 'easier' on SS than most. I'd actually quite like to hear his thoughts on WW, doesn't he still comment and review CBMs on his Facebook page?

I agree, as a writer and critic I liked Devin. But no, he's been radio silent since the allegations.

Man, from half these posts it seems the salty fanboys just can't accept that the DCEU has an objectively great movie coming out. Whatever you think about the rest of the films, let's stay focused on WW right now, eh boys?

Oh really? I thought he was still doing stuff 'on the quiet' on his personal Facebook page. Either way I always thought Faraci was one of the most insightful film writers on the net.

Oh, maybe that's so? I thought you were referring to his fanpage. I'm not aware of what goes on in his personal account.

Not sure how you make a full movie out of Cheetah. That's assuming she gets any focus at all though and isn't used as some throwaway.

Devastation could be okay, not as a main villain, but as a physical opponent.

Circe.

Egg Fu, because let's get a giant racist egg in this shit.

OK, uh...

Wonder Woman has a golden lasso. She can deflect bullets with her bracelet/gauntlets, and she wears a tiara. Her name is Diana and she was sculpted from clay... she... uh... she has a movie coming out.

Can I talk about Steve Trevor too? I've run out of things to say.

He burns down a house full of trained ninjas. Bruce, one of these trained ninjas, is able to escape after duel - which suggests that any of the other trained ninjas, if they chose to escape, would have been able to.

And yeah, it's open to interpretation, just like the knock-out punches in BvS - 'there's a way to intepret this where that guy's brain isn't bleeding'. But there's no way to interpret a car with people in it blowing up, and the occupants not dying, ergo "Man, Batman kills people in this".

The people flew out of the car the first time it rolled. They are fine!

not sure if they ever show the occupants in the car or not

I don't see that all. Quite the contrary, everyone seems really happy about the great reviews this is getting.

Or did you just come in here to shit-post?

Batman didn't change instantly, as I said. His change starts in the fight scene with the Martha callout but doesn't fully happen until superman sacrifices himself and we're at the end of the movie.

I think that's right, but I haven't really been following.

Well mostly everyone here hasn't been able to see WW yet, so discussing how good it seems to be vs. how bad its predecessors were seems on topic to me, but what do I know!

That isn't what's happening in here at all....

Seems like everyone is almost universally happy the movie is good?

I mean, yes. Or atleast the fucking reviews themselves.
