Wonder Woman (DCCU) Review Thread (RT 93%)

Hopefully this will stop all the conspiracy theories about critics having it out for DC.

We all want the same thing, good movies and it seems we finally got one here, thank god.

Yeah hope that the "easy scoops" will stop abit.
Zack Snyder coming out with the news of stepping down and why. Because otherwise "narratives" would be created shows that stuff went to far.

At current exchange rates, The Dark Knight Rises wouldn't be over $1B (TDK misses the mark too, but the market was different then). With ticket price inflation, TDKR just barely clears $1B, and still makes less than what it made in 2012 dollars.

Keep that in mind when making 2017 superhero gross predictions.

I just saw Logan, pretty good movie!

Cloneverine wasn't a great plot twist tho

Lol knowing the people who actually believe the paid critics thing I'm guessing they'll think it's all about catering to SJWs

No narratives will be eroded, or even impeded. Folks believe what they want to believe.

When will we have new tracking numbers?

The action is not the high point of the movie. It's full of bad slow mo and non slow mo scenes are only above average. The actions carry no momentum and wire works are clearly visible.
The is little to no camera shake tho if that's what you're asking.
Although I'm not as negative about the action (I was entertained throughout, and the sequence at the end of the second act was great), I agree it's not the high point of the movie (performances and relationships were). I also wouldn't say every instance of slow mo was bad - sometimes it lent impact to what was happening.

I also just watched Logan last night. Really enjoyed it. The tone and approach was really unique.

As far as the SJW criticism of Wonder Woman's positive reviews... that'll be difficult for those same folks to justify if they're Marvel fans and Captain Marvel also does well. Will that also be because of SJWs, or will they somehow find a way to say "No, no, that's different, that's actually a GOOD film, so it's okay for critics to like it."

Thanks to T-Mobile Tues I get to see this for $4! wowwwww

... In IMAX 3D (with reserved seating) too!

Open your T-Mobile Tues app and give it a go

I don't think that was supposed to be a twist at all, it's really meant to be a bit of on-the-nose symbolism that shows that Wolverine's greatest foe has always been himself above all else. It fits.

It was pretty jarring for me and I didn't like it at first

But really the idea of turning wolverine into what is essentially the terminator makes him one of the most intimidating villains the genre has ever had

Dude was playing no games in that one. Great superhero movie. Top 3 imo

I foresee Captain Marvel getting a lot of the same shit.

A lot of those dudes just have problems with women and anything that could be perceived as progressive in general.

Whether MCU or DCEU stans-- touching that we can all come together to hate women

I mean, if there was a conspiracy...

You can't trash all DC movies or it's gonna be obvious.

So they decided to spare Wonder Woman...

So that they can go all out on Justice League !!

The master plan is genius !!!

Always preferred the Catwoman designs with the goggles and mask.

Selena with long hair and a smaller mask just felt really off to me. I know she's had that look before but still.

Nittiest of nit-picks but I hated Selina's hairstyle in that film as well. Impractically long and brown, it didn't really seem to suit her as a cat burglar.

What really threw salt in the wound was Hathaway immediately cutting her hair for Les Miserables, and not only looking so much better as a result, but also looking exactly like how Selina is traditionally depicted in the comics.

Rats!

But again, I recognise it's a trivial complaint. I just really hated Selina's general look in that film.

I don't really like Hathaway and I hated the costume in the promo stills but I thought she ended up being a great Catwoman. I mean, she's no Michelle Pfeiffer but she did a good job nonetheless.

I felt she was over-acting for much of her screen-time, almost as if she was giving off a really exaggerated impression of a sultry female fatale type as opposed to coming across as a real life, flesh and blood human being.

I liked that actually because it felt like this was just a role that Selina was playing but she did drop the act during the most serious moments of the film. I thought it worked really well overall but I see your point.
