I agree with the notion that Japan Studios would struggle to do Bloodborne justice, but I don't really see the harm in letting them try. If everything blows up, the original still exists. If they knock it out of the park, it'll be a nice surprise. A bad sequel can't affect a great game.

Because it seems a bit foolish. Why would you potentially harm an IP that is a critical darling with a move that's likely not going to work out vs. just waiting until you can get FROM again?

Most Souls fans are going to see through the transparent attempt to cash in on the Bloodborne name in an instant. No Miyazaki is one thing. No From is another entirely.

Just personally, if From isn't making BB2, I legimately do not give a shit about the game. That will be a hilariously dumb announcement. But I think Sony knows better than that, hence dropping Miyazaki's name in the trailer when they initially announced Bloodborne.

Remake of this.

I like the way u think. That will win e3 for me instantly

The main issue with any studio other than From making Bloodborne 2 or a Souls-style game in general is the level design. I think another studio could more or less lift the combat from BB and add some news weapons and armor and that area would be good to go. But the level design is a completely different issue.

Not just that, but also the creature design, music and overall atmosphere as well as lore. All other Souls clones have pretty much failed at these aspects.

That'd definitely be another issue. Although if they were willing to pay money I think they might be able to deal with it. Hire someone like Junji Ito to handle it. He'd actually work quite well for something like Bloodborne.

After it was canned we learned that he'd actually be hired to work on Silent Hills. :/

I have a strong feeling Junji Ito might be helping out with DS. If not, Death Stranding has a lot of Junji Ito inspiration.

Check out the short story "Intruder" that talks about the theory of the Bermuda Triangle separating this reality from other dimensions. A concept that looks to be in DS.

This is the first time in years that Square Enix haven't announced their E3 line-up.

They clearly don't wanna give us the spoiler that KH III will be there!

Got a link to it? Sounds interesting but can't find anything.

It has nothing to do with purity testing and everything to do with quality.

Sorry, I don't think any of the studios you listed or Japan Studios are remotely capable of creating a master piece like Bloodborne.

It would likely be a wanna-be at best that fails to capture what made BB special.
If we're not getting a 100% From one anyway, nothing is lost. And it's not like From is the only capable studio in the world anyway.

A BB 2 From would probably be best, but again get Miyazaki as consultant, and go for it after getting a good team together.

"Waiting for From?". Until... When?

It's not their IP - Bloodborne will be 3 years old soon enough and many are chomping at the bit for a sign that the franchise will continue in spite of From saying they're done with Souls.

Sony would actually be stupid to not move on from them if they won't do it. Obviously if they were to do so it would be on them to hire a great team/ studio/ Director.

A 2019 with TLOU2 and BB2 would be a great send off for the PS4 imo.

Considering Kojima seems to be gathering the Sillent Hills crew for DS, I wouldn't doubt it.
And it would put the game into insta-buy territory for me.

Okay, they can go ahead and announce a Bloodborne 2 without From. I look forward to me, most of GAF and the rest of the Internet laughing at them for attempting to pitifully capitalize on the Bloodborne name.

And From is one of the few capable of making a Souls game. Who else is going to make it? I can't think of a studio capable of making a good Souls game outside of From.

If Team Ninja could do Nioh, and Platinum Nier Automata, everything is possible imo.

But again, it's visibly about purity testing instead of keeping an open mind, as seen in the bolded part of your text.

I love Nioh but it's not remotely close to being as good as a Souls title in any regard but combat, which it demolishes the Souls series in.

And Nier Automata? Come on. You think this is about purity testing? I think you don't even realize what makes Souls games special that you think a Platinum game that lacks any sort of interesting level design, features a boring, visually uninteresting open world, and features little to none of the things that make a Souls game stand out results in Platinum being a good fit for the Souls series.

Oh wait. You're right. I'm absolutely doing purity testing. I do want Bloodborne 2 to be somewhat similar to Bloodborne and not an entirely different genre.

People are so obsess with certain IP that they are willing to accept whatever sequel throw at them. Heck, even before BB was announced, people was asking for DeS 2, but look what From gave us? A masterpiece. Some games are meant to be a one-off, and BB is one of them if Miyazaki doesn't want to work on it. Also, Shuhei holds BB dear to his heart that I doubt he's gonna let anyone beside From to touch it.

I've always wondered if they can really do that...the more I know about how corporate work the less I think it's possible, but I really don't know.

It depends a lot on the corporation in question and what's at stake. Wholesale new strategies aren't going to be invented in the last 24 hours leading up to a major presentation, but new talking points, changes in the order content is presented, and excising material at the last minute are all common enough.

Can't wait for the "Now in development again" announcement. People will lose their shit.
I could maybe see them showing "Coming soon" or some other message now only because for FFXV at Gamescom 2015 when everyone was expecting confirmation of a 2016 release they just had "And so the story begins" at the end of the trailer. Then in interviews right after, Tabata (after being asked about it so much) confirmed 2016 and they changed their next promo video to end with 2016. But I don't think they will make the same mistake here, confirming 2018 is a very obvious (even for Square Enix) crowd pleaser.

LOL

I was listening to the EZA podcast and they started talking about this a few seconds before I came across this gif here.

Can you time stamp where they talk about that? Much appreciated if you do.

And since Io interactive is independent basically. I could see Sony hooking them up with it. Start off where the cliffhanger in Logan's shadow left off.

Yo.

This is a good idea.

Nomura hates us.
Hahaha! ....dang it you're right.

Dang it I was in bed when insane these pictures. This will be a fun night...

I thought this was tomorrow. Now I'm sad.
Well if you care about God of War then at least there is a decent chance it will get a trailer tomorrow assuming Sony do the same Monday before E3 trailer + release date announcement they did with Horizon last year. Maybe it won't be Monday again but I expect it in the next few days.

I don't care about God of War, but if it's about any of their other upcoming games I think that'll do

I'm of the opinion that Japan Studio could make a very competent Bloodborne sequel without From Software personally. I understand why there'd be scepticism, and I agree with an earlier poster that there'd be lots of blowback, but I still feel they could do it justice.

Get Team Ninja on the combat system, Fumito Ueda on the level design, and Junji Ito as art director, then hook them up with Japan Studio. A non-FromSoftware Bloodborne 2 would have a chance then. Still, I would prefer a proper Miyazaki joint.

Keiichiro Toyama as Game Director, with Miyazaki san consulting?

:)

I'm wondering if we're setting ourselves up for disappointment by expecting SP's new IP to be revealed. Sony has:

God of War
Days Gone
Spider-Man
Uncharted: TLL
GT Sport
TLOU 2
Dreams
Detroit: Become Human
Destiny 2
COD: WWII
Battlefront 2
Far Cry 5

All to show at their conference..there's no impetus to reveal SP's game, especially if it's still 1-2 years out.

TLOU 2 is a no show, they already said it won't return for awhile. I REALLY hope Uncharted, GT Sport, Dreams, Detroit will be a trailer after/before the show, unless of course Dreams will be re-revealed as PSVR supported too. Sadly Far Cry 5, COD, Battlefront and Destiny 2 will drain up quite a lot of time.

The same logic could be applied to TLoU2. It didn't need to be revealed but it was. Sony don't care this gen. They are revealing stuff and getting people hyped.

When it comes to any unannounced games I think Sucker Punch is by far the most likely to appear at E3.

In fact I think Sony will announce 2 big games, Sucker Punch new IP and DMC5. Add to that some smaller VR titles.

I actually don't think Far Cry 5 will appear on stage at Sony conference, just like WD2 didn't last year. Especially considering it doesn't release this year.

I really hope so. Far Cry 4 appeared on both Ubisoft and Sony conference. Those game belongs to their own company conference, but they always get spotlight on both side.
