Wonder Woman |OT| The World is Ready for You, Gal Gad [SPOILERS]

"I'm both afraid and aroused." That part from bar scene was hilarious.

I found it odd that the German's soldiers was celebrating with Diana's crew in the end. They probably knew the war ended that moment but they were on opposing sides of the war but whatever.

Also, does anyone think the pills that made the general strong is going to be integrated to the Flash or other DC movies down the line? Maybe someone in the future found the formula and somehow remade pills to give superpowers to the Flash's meta human rouges gallery, Bane's venom or something.

What if it's like those pills from the first Injustice game.

Harley vs. Superman in Man of Steel 2.

Max Landis loved it (very giddity about how good it was).

He offers a pretty cool fan fiction/slight addition. I dig the suggestion.

Two things I give tons of credit to the film though is a) how any time Wonder Woman DOES something in the film, it feels otherworldly, godly, and just stunning. b) how the film does not remotely shy away from condemnation of war on all sides, as something that should never be celebrated, and that even the good guys must recognize that what they are doing is shit, even if they are forced to for the right reasons. This is something Captain America TFA never quite managed to even touch.
I agree with most of your thoughts here, and particularly this graph. To your comments about the film being dark...yeah. It really is. I thought it would flinch away from its WWI setting, but it used it rather well to covey just how awful and fucked up humanity can be to one another. But as dark as it was, I appreciated it because it had a point. That theme, of hope and love fighting in the midst of war (Diana hunkering behind her shield, taking withering gunfire in the No Man's Land sequence, is the perfect visual metaphor for her role in the film, and in the world), seems really relevant in 2017.

I felt like Batman v Superman was being dark for the sake of it, because that's what Snyder thought was cool. Here that thematic (and often, visual) darkness was a part of the central point of the film and Diana's character. It was a smack in the face, but one that really resonated with me.

My general thoughts on the movie:

- Gal proved her acting skills admirably in this movie.
- Kids love young Diana.
- I dont understand how Diana and Trevor reach London from somewhere in the Aegean in just one day in a sailboat.
- Chris Pine was good, very good in this.
- Still, i think Trevor should be British.
I had forgotten about this, and yeah, that bugged me too. "We hitched a ride" overnight doesn't quite do it when it takes weeks to traverse the ocean by boat.

I think I understand what he's getting at. I hate that none of the relationships in MCU are committed. Especially Tony and Pepper. He's obviously playing it up for attention though.

And if you think Landis is crazy, I remember Ebert saying the same EXACT thing about Peter and Mary Jane in his review for Spider-Man 1.

Optimus Prime would've killed Dr. Poison
Wonder Woman just doesn't have the COURAGE TO DO WHAT SHE MUST

Also it depends. Tony and Pepper were committed, so were Jane and Thor.

Yeah, for people's reference:
I have one question about the Peter Parker character: Does the movie go too far with his extreme social paralysis? Peter tells Mary Jane he just wants to be friends. "Only a friend?" she repeats. "That's all I have to give," he says. How so? Impotent? Spidey-sense has skewed his sexual instincts? Afraid his hands will get stuck?

Just saw the movie...I really enjoyed it, easily the best DCEU movie to date. This movie really surprised me. We need more DCEU movies like this and less like Batman v Superman and the DCEU could turn out even better!

I watched the movie and had a blast. I just have a couple questions:

1) How old is Diana supposed to be? They said Zeus brought her to life, which implies this was before he gave up his life. Based off what they said, that was back when Ares killed all the gods, meaning ancient times? So is Diana like 2000+ years old when she leaves with Steve?
2) Is Ares the type of dude that can be defeated so utterly and still come back? Because if he was killed so easily that kinda torpedoes all the build-up he was given.
3) What was with the Amazons accents?

1. We don't know, but 100s/1000s of years. We're not sure about whether Ares killed the Gods pre or post Darkseid's invasion attempt.

2. I mean, are any of the Gods "really" dead? It's been a mighty long time and they'll only stay dead until the story requires them to come back. People wonder if he got consigned to the Styx/Underworld, and it's worth noting that it doesn't torpedo his buildup considering he was killed by the being literally made to kill him.

3. What about them?

1. In all the BtS stuff from BvS they were saying she was thousands of years old, I specifically recall "3,000" once or twice
2. Diana was brought to life specifically to defeat him, so technically it is okay.
3. They were all trying to do Gal's accent.

That, or just that her lifespan is so much greater than ours her age happens at a vastly different rate to ours. I mean we know she can perceive time differently from us sooo...eh, who cares :P

oh i wasn't bothered i enjoyed the film alot made me wanting the justice league movie now

Thanks for the answers.

Assuming that death for the gods isn't a temporary condition, I would disagree and say that it was kind of anticlimactic. Ares is a bonafide badass who kills all the gods, is implied to behind the worst of all of humanity's wars to some degree, and had to have a person born and bred for millennia to kill him. And when he finally has a showdown with her, he says a few lines to try to convert her, she rejects, he doesn't really try to persuade her any more, they fight for 5 minutes, and he gets obliterated.

I don't know. It just doesn't seem very genuine or fulfilling to me. His setup makes him seem like the type you'd spend a whole trilogy trying to take down.

One thing the sequel needs is more Amazons. And not just in action scenes - Justice League looks like it's going to give us some of that. I want more of Diana on the island with friends, family, caretakers. I want to see more important Amazons from the comics like Phillipus, Artemis, and Io have more prominent roles.

I fear the Amazons getting absolutely wasted by Darkseid's armies if they are holding one of the mother boxes

I'm expecting Zack Snyder's Amazons to be more sturdy.

Well, hoping. Seeing fiercesome immortal warriors getting one-shotted by WW1 rifles was quite disappointing.

As someone who thought MoS was average and BvS and Suicide Squad were downright awful I have to say Wonder Woman was fantastic. The villain reveal and last 10-15 minutes were a bit of a mis-step but everything else was just great.

Pretty good. Last act went on a bit too long though, and I wasn't a huge fan of letting the poisoner run away.

But I enjoyed it more then any DC movie since the nineties.

Solid movie. I didn't watch BvS but way better than MoS. I'd watch this movie again for sure.

Love how Gal Gadot looks great in every scene in the costume. 😍

We'll see. Seems scenes from the trailer are flashbacks. From a recent interview,

Nielsen: And [Wright and I] got to do more in "Justice League" as well. As sisters as well. Kind of badass as well. We can't say much, but ...

Wright: And more of the story, you get some of the history.

Hippolyta and Antiope will be wrecking parademons in JL for sure.

I saw the film earlier and I loved it. Gal Gadot is absolutely delightful.

The trench x village battle was great fun as well. Heck, I even enjoyed the final battle. Tickles my pickle seeing Gal go batshit on enemies in slow-mo with that guitar riff going.

One of my favourite superhero flicks in a long while.

It's been confirmed from set visits that the film likely starts with a prologue of the Amazons and Atlantians battling Darksied and his army.

Wonder Woman made it seem like they had never left the island or fought anyone, so it's a bit weird that JL would start with them fighting spacemen.

We're talking a flashback for immortals. Thousands of years before Wonder Woman.

Who knows, maybe it's way back when Zeus and the other gods were kicking around and they're in the fight as well.

The flashbacks clearly showed there were many wars in the past and that the amazons existed long before the island did.

Diana better have a big role in JL. But that doesn't seem to be the case at all. It's gonna be the Ben Affleck show. Big miscalculation on WB's part, but I guess they got a lot positive feedback for his turn as Bats in BvS.

finally watched the movie...it was a good movie, evben though by the end i kinda lost interest and i was hoping it just ended while the main action was on screen

if i have to find some problems, it's the fact that the movie never establish really what kind of powers the main heroine has..so you never know what kind of limits she has and what she can or can't do....one moment is an amazon proficient in combat and nothing more...20 minutes later she is surviving machine guns and freeing an occupied city by herself and i still don't know if she can or can't be wounded by bullets...by the end she is shooting kamehamehas against a god....

second problem is the actress portraying WW...she was not that good, and while her lost tone of voice is ok for all those scenes where she is the typical "child that doesn't know anything of the world"..when she actually means what she is saying it kinda detracts from the whole thing.

ah also the end was kind of weak..bascially the entire message was that it's not one evil guy that creates war but it's mankind and their own darknesses..and then she defeats Hares and everything seems hunky dory even for the germandss that just saw their compound destroyed

ALSO,she should have murdered the shit out of that bitch

WB better have greenlit a Gadot/Pine romcom to give us the happy ending we deserve. Or WW2 could be about Diana going into the Underworld to find Steve. Either/or, but preferably both/and. Their chemistry is definitely the highlight of the film, and made the eyeroll worthy "love" motivation seem more credible than it actually is.

She's a god. She's the daughter of Zeus. Her upper limit is at least what Ares showed. She's a young god and Ares makes note of it when saying his powers are better.

Huh. Considering how many casualties they took against a platoon or two's worth of WW1 soldiers, I feel like they'd get slaughtered against an army of laser gun wielding, airborne, ufo flying space soldiers.
