The biggest problem with Res F is that they gave Vegeta only 5% of the fight sequences and didn't even let him get the killing blow. I swear to god they better let Vegeta be the one to destroy Freiza this time or else they've screwed up bad again. After 30 year's of Vegeta's existence as a fictional character he still barely has any kind of closure to his origin story.

The biggest problem to me was mostly that the whole movie had no reason to exist. It felt like filler. It told largely a pointless story where at the end of it everything goes back right to square one. As a result bringing Freeza back for that movie felt like such horrible fan service and nothing more. That movie was so bad especially when you start comparing it to Battle of Gods.

They used the official translation used by Funi. So they are 'correct' for the North American audience.

But naturally, this is going to dissolved into old Funi spelling vs. Japanese spelling.

I disagree that they are correct. You can even see it in this exact episode Freeza is spelled correctly on that drawing yet the subs still say Frieza. It is completely nonsensical to throw dub terms into a subtitle track. I do not understand why Toei thought it is a good idea! For the North american audience there is always the dub that they can watch. The whole point of watching DB in its original language is to have a more authentic and accurate experience. The original Funimation dub was terrible and having some of its terms still stick around in the sub is terrible.

Even then they get things wrong, like calling Kaioken "King Kai Fist".

That was strange. They also translated Mansko when Funi left the name as is.

Frieza, rather you liked it or not, is the official spelling for the character since the 90s in the US. That is how it is and it isn't the first time spellings have been changed even if you see the Japanese spelling.

Most audience who watched subs do so because there is no official dub, not because they want the "more authentic and accurate experience". That is why literal translations are not used like Herms who is very cut and dry. The Kanzenshuu has a podcast all about this subject about how translating is an art, not a science.

The original Funimation being terrible doesn't matter. It is what people got to know. They did used more 'accurate' attack names in Kai off and on, but they didn't stick.

But they didn't change many things though? the biggest thing i can think of is changing Kururin to Krillin, but i can understand that because the former would sound weird in english

also a lot of the attack name changes were just english translations which is fine with me.

Man, the NEP is really good looking.

The last NEP looked great and the final episode delivered, hopefully this is the same.

Visuals look good, I'm still questioning why this episode exists however. Unless FujiTV's
"In the midst of battle, Freeza seems to have changed his objective..."
means anything significant.

I'm sorry, but the correct spelling is clearly フリーザ.
Come on, it's so obvious. How could you insult him with anything less!

You're complaining about an i being used instead of an e...

One thing I think the RoF arc did better than the movie was show how sadistic Frieza was.

IMO the Z warriors stuff was better in the arc than the movie, but the Goku/ Vegeta vs. Frieza fight was severely worse in the arc.

I agree the episode that just went and the next could have easily been one, again.

It exists so Universe 9 gets erased in a dramatic matter cementing Universe 7 as villains.

1.That first point is completely irrelevant it is incorrect regardless whether or not it was used officially in the US.

2. Yes but there is also a huge portion of fans especially DB fans who completely got turned off from the Funimation dub dating back ever since it started airing and have stuck with the subs every since because of this exact reason. I am pretty sure that most DB home releases have accurate subs and if some happen to not like it they can just turn on the dub. As it is now Toie is catering to the dub fans at the expense of everyone else.

3. DBZ Kai was on and off in how it used attack names but it is far less offensive because it is the dub that is inconsistent not the subs.

What do you want it to mean

Freeza fucking off and doing something drastic that either 1) fucks over the U7 team as a whole, or 2) Goku specifically. Two would kind of feed into one, but yeah. Something unexpected other than him just killing dudes or getting U9 eliminated.

My guess is that
somehow he learns who sent the assassins and now he wants to kill Sidra or something like that.

Goku hugged him to pound him harder

That was my thought as well. If Sidra doesn't show up himself, he's going to torture one of the assassins into spilling who sent them, and then he's going to want to kill their God of Destruction.

That'd be a neat side thing.
I hope we see Frieza torture one of them to get answers.

What else will slip?
That was weird. I only took that one way, I don't see how that could have any other meaning. First the hints of Kale X Caulila, and now the hints of Frieza X Goku.

As long as he shows up at the tourney one way or another then I'm good. Can't pass up that interaction potential with other characters.

The master plan was just to kill Freiza?

I was thinking ratface was more clever last episode, like offering him to throw the tournament for U7 and then take refuge in that other universe.

The idea is to kill Frieza, so that they won't have enough people and be disqualified from what I understood.

The entire scene was homoerotic. Like black and zamazu it wasn't by accident

How the hell did they think those sorry assassins could kill Freiza? Didn't they watch him on Godtube??

Unless there's a really strong one still waiting or something.

While I'm not ready to leave Boogie Back. I wonder if the next outro will be heavily focused on other universes. Or if they'll keep it about U7 fighters.

I can't believe we only have 2 more episodes of Boogie Back =(
I have faith the next ED will be good though, Locco Tower did a great job last time, let's just hope the visuals that go along with the song are good too.

Im ready to see Vegeta become jealous with this newfound love/hate relationship between Goku and Frieza.

Episode looked great. Hoping the quality is at least this good during the tournament.
