Capcom focused on Monster Hunter: World for West, won't commit to MH:XX localization

Welcome to the Monster Hunter experience, johnny come latelies.

Sounds like there's a Portable 5 in the works for Switch at least though so take solace in that.

Time to find myself a new favorite franchise.

Lots of good memories with Monster Hunter. :'(

Will repeat. Fuck Capcom!!

I really just hope Nintendo is able to find something or make something that can replace Monster Hunter.

That's because Nintendo is the publisher outside Japan. It's Nintendo who has to announce it. Hopefully during day 2 or 3 of Treehouse Live.

Why is it not being on Switch mean you have to move on?

Maybe most people like the portability of the series? I mean there is an established trend that supports as such. Every console version starting with the PS2 has sold far less than the Portable versions.

Has Capcom ever published MH in the EU?

Capcom has pretty much consistently fumbled western releases for the series and blamed everyone, but themselves. Then again this is the same company that released the gimped SF5 at launch, and is having their main crossover fighter outstaged by a DBZ game, so incompetence is par for course as of late. Not to mention Deep Down lol

Weird to build up a fanbase on 3DS/Nintendo and abandon them to chase the console audience. Switch especially feels like it caters to both local and international crowds well, being playable everywhere (and with proper controls finally).

Maybe the financials don't justify it (I hate missing out on the Ace Attorney spinoffs, but I get why), but it's hard to see how it'd be a big expense and the audience is already there.

Capcom and SE also need to stop relying on Nintendo to publish their shit, and then look surprised when it does well.

I honestly think MHW is going to underperform heavily.

It seems the 3DS and formerly PSP gave it a nice spotlight. Now it's going against AAA flavor of the month titles. Not to mention the audience of Nintendo fans that have fostered its greatest growth in the West.

Bizarre move if true.

This hurts quite a bit.

It's all there, the localisation is almost already done, so that's gotta be a coucious choice not to release it. Yeah, this kinda hurts.

Thanks Capcom, I wanna play MHW asap on my PRO. Keep up on working on it ;)

The people making MHW isn't the same people that would localize MHXX, you lose nothing from this releasing in the west so please stop with dumb comments like these.

Capcom is banking on World getting the mass audience that may be interested in MH but are turned off by the series' combat system and controls. There's a lot out there.

That said, localizing XX does no damage whatsoever to that plan, so it still has Capcom in the wrong regarding that.

The most success MH has ever had in the West, after years of work to build it up and Capcom fucks everyone to push a game established fans may very well not enjoy.

Fucking dickheads.

I can't speak to what Capcom is or isn't doing with this franchise in the West, but "nothing to announce currently" is and always has been meaningless PR-speak.

So Nintendo helped push monster hunter to be over a million seller in the west and this is how capcom responds? I played monster hunter 3 and 4 ultimate with two of my little brothers. They are not buying multiple PS4 systems to play this one game. I think capcom dropped the ball with this one. A family might have multiple handhelds for different kids but how many have multiple of the same console??

This sucks; I was looking forward to playing MH on the Switch. I wonder why they're even doing with 90% of the game already being localized, seems like a wasted opotunity for them even from a monetary standpoint.
Capcom really is losing it's good will between the sub-par MvCI impressions and this.

Capcom have banked on making Westernized versions of their games for something like a decade now and have failed miserably every time.

Controls and combat which would have been the same on the Switch as the systems World is coming for. Unless they planned on another 3DS iteration for...reasons, those changes would have naturally occurred

Well, not necessarily. They've realized if they make their games more action oriented they sell better (ie. RE5 and especially 6)

Huh thats a weird one. Is MHW slated for an early 2018 release? Maybe they want as maybe people on that before even hinting of a XX port later on, maybe in 2019?

Still glad that World is getting legitimate support from Capcom. They're making me think this won't end up as another Frontier

That Friday release is pretty weird. Perhaps a simultaneous global release for XX was planned at some point, then axed in favor of being Japan-only.

I looked up the dates, and out of the last like, 8? releases, all of them have been on a Saturday with the Wii U port of 3G being on a Thursday to coincide with the console's launch date. Definitely seems like it was possible.

I mean, I understand how you feel since there have been so many portable versions ... but, I started with Monster Hunter on PS2 -- I even beta tested it. So, I've been dying for a console powered release. So, yeah, I want XX on my Switch, but I'm not gonna feel strange playing World on my PS4 -- I'm thrilled.

It's been kinda hard being a console MH fan sometimes.

I liked the portable games, but they just never grabbed me the way the online console ones do.

Capcom not bringing over MHDos to the west was heartbreaking, had to wait until MHTri, and buy a whole fucking new console to play it.

So I get them more then they know, but I'm also ecstatic for a brand new console release.

So Capcom with Sony just stabbed Nintendo in the back? lol
After all Nintendo did in the west for the series.
Capcom keep losing.

I'll get the JP version of MHXX Switch in August. Not a big deal for me personally. Sucks for those that were waiting to play it in English.

You can't blame Nintendo. Nintendo is publishing MH Stories in the west.

This is all Capcom's shit.

This isn't Nintendo's problem.

It's Capcom's.

Sorta, but XX will still be available in Japan where it'll sell more anyway.

Because Nintendo didn't coerce Capcom into localizing it?

I'm reading the situation as Sony trying to win the western MH market for themselves. And Nintendo just watching it like, "ok, cool, go ahead".

Edit: I mean, sure, XBone and PC as well, but Sony's got the biggest market share here. Should have said "away from Nintendo" rather than "for themselves" probably.
