Capcom focused on Monster Hunter: World for West, won't commit to MH:XX localization

It's good news for me that they're focusing on a brand new huge console Monster Hunter game and not the port of what's basically Monster Hunter X GOTY Edition.

Why not both? They both already exist after all. And the translation for XX is basically the same as X. I don't think it would take much to bring it over honestly.

When MH left PSP, I heard a lot of "true monhun fans will go wherever monhun goes"

I feel your pain tho.

They literally have to localize less than half a game that's already made. This would do nothing substantively to interfere with World's development.

Crazy idea, THEY COULD DO BOTH. XX is mostly localized already. This doesn't have to be a zero sum game.

You're...really missing the larger picture here.

XX/Generations X/etc. is only 1 game where most of the content has already been localized for another game already out. But it's going to be the first of many. It won't be the last.

I see them localizing XX because it's good business. It'll just take a fucking long time as usual for them to get around to it.

Wow at the over reaction.

Nintendo is publishing Monster Hunter Stories later this year.
Nintendo published Monster Hunter Generations in 2016.
Nintendo published Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in 2015.
Nintendo published Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in 2013.

Nintendo will probably published Monster Hunter XX next year.

And by the way, the guy isn't going to tell you "no it's just a little spin off, MH5 is coming next year too"

Given how well MH4U and MHX sold, I'm surprised it's not being fast tracked to fill in the gap between now and Monster Hunter World. I'm hyped for World, but I also wanted portable goodness on my eventual Switch too... :(

TBH it looks the future of the franchise, finally being cleaned up. There's not much reason to drop the ball with a 3DS port tarnishing the franchise in the West.

WTF is this?

Sure they don't want to tarnish the brand by releasing a game the fanbase wants.

Funny because Capcom abandoned PSP owners to chase the 3DS market. This is no different.

There will be a MH for Switch past XX (which will probably hit next year too) Not much to worry about. They are just trying to build the brand. About damn time too.

There's at least methods to that madness though. Sticking with PS2 like graphics can help keep the budget lower for more profit/revenue on copies sold. Capcom is hurting for money with no big successes right now.

If they do wind up sabotaging MH in some form, it's bad news and could hurt them a great deal.

If the previous rumor from that person is true though, Nintendo will still get the next mainline game. I imagine most are worried about localizations now cause I certainly wouldn't like to see some locked to Japan, I went them all localized as they continue to push their brand in the west.

Fuck off, Capcom. I want my XX.

I want as many XX and Generations features as possible in World as recompense. Imma be pissed if I can't play Prowler

Real good job there Capcom. Seems to me that they're going to lose a lot of Western fans by doing this, which is ironic considering they're trying to gain more Western fans.

I don't even understand why they wouldn't localize XX; I'd imagine 90-95% of it was already localized when they did Generations in the West, so what point is there in not localizing it? They're basically leaving money on the table at that point.

I hope MH: World succeeds, but I couldn't even be paid to pre-order before seeing some serious in-depth reviews.

Shame the game is so text-heavy too, otherwise it would be my first region unlocked purchase simply because it's not coming to North America

Well hopefully this thread and other news will push them to do some damage control soon enough about this...
If not, good luck for World and for appeasing the classic fanbase that pushed them to 4U numbers in the west.

Huh thats a weird one. Is MHW slated for an early 2018 release? Maybe they want as maybe people on that before even hinting of a XX port later on, maybe in 2019?

What would be the logic in localizing a 3DS port two years later?

So, I guess that leaves Monster Hunter Stories for Nintendo fans in the West, if they don't end up localizing MHXX...very disappointing.

I think Capcom underestimates the love for portable MH games among a good portion of the fan base that's already established in the West.

Didn't you hear, you have to not release the game if you want to build the franchise. I guess this is what Square-Enix is doing with the Seiken Densetsu collection. They're building it up in the west by not releasing it.

It's not really about MH leaving Nintendo, it's about them not localizing a game that already exists. It's another Portable 3rd situation and it's just as shitty.

Capcom seems to have a good history of moving established franchise from one platform to another to the dismay of its existing fans. Reminds me of resident evil 4 when they announced that for GameCube haha.

They released all PSP games on the West first though, no?

Cause that's what would piss me off.

EDIT

Oh yeah that didn't get released in the end. Yup, it's shitty as hell.

Or Square Enix with Dragon Quest. Dragon Quest could be a bit more than what it is, but they've failed to release their titles frequently to grow it in the west.

They still released RE4 on the Gamecube outside of Japan though. The situation isn't really comparable.

Capcom makes the worst decisions. Of course this is what they'd choose to do. I didn't really have any hard feelings against Monster Hunter World, but I do now.

I guess when you put it like this, it's certainly possible. A 4chan source probably wouldn't have knowledge of this. Nintendo's publishing freakin' Skyrim. So why not?

If XX was on another console you would be right.

This is them not translating a game, like P3rd, different situations.

I have no doubt Nintendo will publish XX in the west.
They are probably also making sure that a new game is being made for Switch, but that would have probably happened anyways since there is no way Monster Hunter World sells anywhere near as well in Japan as any of the recent 3DS entries and I doubt Capcom wants that reliable revenue stream to just end.
But then again, Capcom is really dumb, so who knows.

Can't really blame them. I'd probably put the marketing and cash into a new game for the PS4 audience over a re-heated deluxe port of a game that's already been released multiple times.

Again I feel like people are losing their shit prematurely. What is wrong with some of you? This is a non statement at the moment. XX isn't at the show; world is. And even if capcom wants to push world...Nintendo could always publish XX as they have with many titles stuck in Japan in the past. Why is the first reaction to things is to be as mad as possible? How do some of y'all get through your day to day lives? Relax and think things through before losing your minds in rage.
