What I don't understand is how so many of them still believe they are right from an economic or sovereignty viewpoint? It's genuinely maddening.

The only leg to stand on is immigration and so many of them do not want to admit that because they feel it makes them out to be foaming at the mouth racists, which so many of them clearly are, underneath it all.

Tbh even immigration isnt a valid arguement because there are a ton of non-EU immagrants in the UK as well. The EU has just been used as a scapegoat multiple times by the goverment and media, it now is all backfired and now we are going through something that will put us into a potentially really bad situation and weaken our influence worldwide.

They are thick, and social media has surrounded them with likeminded and sometimes thicker people that have reinforced their thickness like some kind of country wide convention of thick facebook constructicons.

Many of them are old and thick, which is even worse.

To be fair. Euroskeptics saved us from the Euro. Now that would have been a real disaster.
Brexit of course is unlikely to help us with any of this.

There is the argument of being able to form FTAs that fit our agenda better though but having said that the UK had been very much involved in EU trade policy and b) even the less than ideal compromises EU trade imposes end up being better than what any one state can do due to the great leverage the EU has as a whole. And the UK isn't very much in a position to negotiate anything right now.

This can all be explained using gravitation. The thicker they are the more their gravitational pull.
Brexiteers are like black holes of sorts.

So 10 days in and still no deal with the DUP. Just how long can this go on?

Adopting the Euro would have stopped Brexit by making it far too hard to leave, so......

The Euro is a beautiful currency. I like having Euro notes.

We might have had more buy in to actually being part of Europe instead of sitting on the sidelines blowing raspberries and farting.

Papers tomorrow:

Sun and Express: Weather is Hot
Actual Newspapers: DUP tell may to Fuck Off
Mail: FAR LEFT FIRE OUTRAGE
The National: OCH NO TORY STUFF (Wa didnae vote fae em, honest)

Stopping brexit is only worth if the sacrifice is worth it. I'd rather take the brunt of Brexit than go Euro.

Until May is forced to go to an early election again.

Brown wasn't a eurosceptic in the sense of wanting to Leave, so it's not exactly a stellar comparison to draw upon anyway.
I was not talking about Brown. Actually John Major would have taken the Euro without rebels in his own party and is the reason the UK even had the choice to stay out. But I acknowledged your point in my original post. Leaving makes no sense. There is a healthy amount of Euroskepticism that makes sense however even if many of the Tory rebels probably were in it for the wrong reasons. Brown was also not the only voice in the Labour party that drove the party away from the Euro and was himself influenced by Ed Balls.

It is so hot I have resorted to using voice type to let people know that it's so hot I literally cannot be bothered typing.

So actually using the power of my voice right now to communicate with you because this is 2017 we're apparently living in the future.

So he is a bit of Lib Dem news.

According to the Telegraph Vince Cable running for the leadership of the Lib Dems is actually just a caretaker to get Jo Swinson in after about 3 years after the brexit negotiations have finished. This is apparently a secret deal they took over the weekend.

I'm actually vaguely impressed the voice typing on my phone isn't actually terrible, but on the other hand I do kind of think that I'm having to edit this way too much so I think it's a bit pointless

Overall my conclusion of this week so far is that politics is getting really strange because the British electorate hate everything and on top of that it's way too hot for anybody to seriously think about anything other than where is the nearest ice cream and am I going to die of dehydration.

Advantage so hot hot I actually think my phone might legitimately melt and just browsing NeoGAF

Frankly if I was the queen I would just walk around with two massive air conditioners continually blowing on me I don't care what the electricity comes from we can bankrupt the National Grid if we have to but it is far far too warm in London to do anything other than complain about how warm it is right now.

The queen's speech is mostly just ceremonial and it won't even be that ceremonial this time due to the limited amount of time to prepare for this speech, but I do think that the actual news will be a couple of days afterwards as we here what if anything that Tories are stitching up with the unionists in Northern Ireland.

At the end of the day the Tories if everything goes well can theoretically rule for 5 years the problem is that I don't think the DUP sincerely want that once they got the better funding for Northern Ireland sorted what else can the Tories actually offer them?

English Laws for Norn Iron.

Secret goal of the Buckngham Palace renovations was adding AC to every room for this eventuality clearly.

I am so tempted the link that Harry Enfield sketch again but I think we all know what the joke is right now.

Hey guys I've got a great idea for a new centrist Party in Britain it would commit to Global cooling it would win 80% of the vote in London right now.

At this point to be perfectly ok if somebody throws me in a block of ice for about 10 years at the end of that this entire political solution will be sorted and it'd be nice and cool in there.

Foster just angrily turned down Newsnight because they were doing a DUP/UDA bit. There are so many different avenues for combustion.

Well that's amazing.

Every single week. They've also got a dog who hates the English as a columnist and they play it seriously. Easily the worst newspaper in the country. Soft spot for Vonny though (or Spilly as she used to call herself on amateur grumble websites)

Every single night I check the front pages of most of the papers before bed. I have a long standing problem.

Its also the color of blood and an evil color, while cool blue is always heroic.

So no, YOU fucked up, UK.

It's not just the UK, red is the colour of the left pretty much everywhere.

US broadcasters only started assigning their colours to their parties in the last few decades anyway didn't they?

Mail running their story about the queen's speech

Tories are apparently dropping manifesto pledges about winter fuel allowance, triple lock, foxhunting and school dinners. Basically anything and everything they got hammered on. Doesn't say much about social care beyond they're committed to solving it or whatever.

edit; also this quote in the independent seems pretty damning

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...anifesto-pledges-removed-latest-a7799681.html

A humbled Theresa May will propose a hollowed-out plan for government on Wednesday, as figures in her own party admitted it would be "her first and last".

Its gonna be a complete nothing queens speach, just technical stuff like the repeal bill and a couple of things no one can disagree with

Nope this Queens speech is going to determine the course of the UK for the next 100 years. We truly are going to go to the stars and it starts with the Queens speech tomorrow :-

definitely not the oinion HONEST said:
Powers planned by the Government aiming to pave the way for commercial space flights in Britain will be included in the Queen's Speech alongside a raft of investments in transport infrastructure.

The legislation, according to Department for Transport (DfT), will allow the launch of satellites from the UK for the first time, horizontal flights to the edge of space for scientific experiments and the establishment of spaceports in regions across Britain.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...riverless-cars-spaceships-ports-a7798001.html

To think here we are mocking Theressa May when she has all this planned. I mean look at it, just look at it SPACE PORTS. Who cares if we let the poor burn to death in shoddy social housing we are getting mother fucking SPACE PORTS.

(oh and I just have to add that the picture in the independent of the aforementioned !!!!!SPACE PORTS!!! is such a British idea of what a space port would look like. A sort of cross between a third rate knackered airport and cobbled together RAF base)
