Because it's an "event", and people are invested enough in both fighters that they want to see it. People enjoy watching a spectacle.
I enjoy a spectacle just as much as everyone else, the thing is, how much of a spectacle will the actual fight be? I think the build up will be more of a spectacle.
But I'll probably end up buying the PPV either way.

MMA trainers/fighters think this is an example of "good boxing". That's the disconnect. People say stuff like Conor or the Diaz' or Eddie Alvarez are "good boxers" but that's by MMA standards which to a guy on the level of Floyd doesn't even register.

I am a huge Conor McGregor fan and I hope that somehow he pulls it off. That said I agree that the speed difference appears dramatic. My hope is that Conor's movement is SO foreign to Floyd that he is able to throw a couple of feints and then catch Floyd off guard.
On the flip side Floyd is fast and quick but seems to lack power. Conor has a pretty damn good chin from what I have seen, only getting wobbled by Nate after gassing himself out. I just don't see Floyd knocking him out.
It's either going to be Conor by KO in the first few rounds or a UD for Floyd IMO.

Who says I am defending Conor? The double end bag is worked for defense and speed. The heavy bag for power or stamina.
The twitter video is comparing one fighter hitting a double end bag and another hitting a tear drop bag. Then shitting on one for being slow but its purpose is not for speed.
Go find me a video of both hitting a double end.

Someone posted a sports science video on these two and Floyd hits about as hard as Nate. Only he has insane technique and speed on top of that. As much as I love Conor, he is going to get absolutely toyed with.
Conor is getting exponentially more money than he would've gotten out of Dana, so I completely understand why he'd accept this fight.
he can fake it all he wants. Floyd never takes any opponents lightly. Dude is an absolute gym rat. He would be training with the same intensity if he was set to fight SRR or amateur joe.

Just for the sake of argument, let's say Conor's timing is magically as good as young Zab Judah and Manny Pacquiao or that he somehow has the wherewithal to set a trap like Shane Mosley did.

You're annoyed by that? It's not a bold statement to make. Shane Mosley is one of the hardest punchers in the last 20 years at that weight range and all he's done for a living is train to punch through a moving target. Conor's had other responsibilities as a mixed martial artists.

Well here is something to cheer you up. Before Jon Jones emasculated Shogun Rua in their title fight, they showed footage of both of them training and Rua looked way better, with nice kicks and sharp muay thai while Jones looked stiff and slow.
It's not a stretch to say that McGregor does not hit as hard as Mosley.
