Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

Finished the Lost City and there is for sure some funny stuff going on with collision. I've tried to spin attack a few lizard enemies, I definitely touched them but they stood there unharmed, then Coco ran in the opposite direction... without me touching the D-pad at all. I almost fell into a pit before I frantically pressed buttons to get back in control of her.

There needs to be patches on the horizon.

In Crash 1? The upright lizards are meant to bounce you back when you touch them from the side. I don't think you've ever been able to spin them.

I believe there's a type of lizard that bounces you back, not exactly sure which one it is but it's weird, like you'll spin them out but they'll still bounce you back, so the character ends up walking without you doing anything.

I did not think of doing this back on the PS1, you learn something new

what the fuck? did the boulder running over boxes in crash 2 always count as actually breaking the boxes?

why do i have memories of manually breaking them all
was i just a moron and wasting my time back then?

I've also noticed a few areas in Crash 1 where I know I should be able to jump on a crate or around a hazard/pit from a certain angle, but my jump ends up getting blocked by other objects in the environment. I know they basically remade these games from scratch so there are bound to be a few minor inconsistencies, but it can still be rather annoying.

Speaking about The Lost City. Was there anyone else who kept missing the N. Brio portal and instead got burnt to a crisp?

I didn't get burned, but I definitely missed the jump a few times and fell nearly back down to the bottom. The Twana bonus portal in Road To Nowhere was also in a weird spot, with a very slight gap between the bridge and the portal that was obscured by the bridge itself. Died a few times there before realizing what was happening.

Yup! The first game is the only one where the boulders won't break them. Though the one in Crash 2 won't break reinforced crates!

I've spun the upright enemies several times now(not without getting bounced back a bit though), so I guess that's why I'm confused. If you can't spin the enemies in the original game then you definitely shouldn't be able to here. But thanks for the heads up; these damn lizards cost me the green gem a couple times <_<

Edit: I'm an idiot, you can spin them when they're not facing you.

The jumping does feel a tadbit off, have only played the 1st game but I know I am making jumps and I am grazing off the platform to instant death. Is that just me, feels a little off.

Nah I wouldn't say skip 1. 1 is a classic challenge. It's challenging in the way many old games are so idk about you but I'm going through it right now. The others are better experiences but man there's just something about 1's difficulty that's such a nostalgia trip. I love it.

Kinda funny seeing so many complaints about Crash 1's collision detection and general jank and how VV should patch these "bugs". Guys, it was like this in the original Crash 1. That game is ass, especially when compared to Crash 2 and 3. If they fix any of it, it'll likely be them fixing problems from the original game that they copied over.

Trying to get the relic on The High Road in Crash 1 and it's kicking my ass. This is a guy who got Gold on Slippery Climb.

I'm going in order, the box bouncing in Native Fortress can be frustrating but thankfully you can't really die from a mistake off box bouncing in those isolated segways.

First game done, enjoyed more than I thought I would

Also interesting to see that there are some SIEA personal in the credits, there is a section dedicated to them in there. Guess Activision and Sony really worked closely on this one

I was NOT ready for how damn good this game looks. Damn!

Nearing the end of the first Crash 1 run (without gems or relics yet).

Cannot wait for 2 and 3. Even the first one has been more fun than I expected.

Damn, 1 can get pretty hard. Not to mention it's hard to see where you're jumping at times.

What's the easiest in this collection? Or at least the most accessible?

The easiest is 3 but I'd say 2 is more accessible. 2 has more of a focus on platforming whereas 3 has quite a few non platforming levels (swimming, motorcycle races, aerial dogfights, and so on).

It's definitely Crash 2. Warped is also much closer to the second game in terms of difficulty, but the vehicle levels can prove frustrating at times.

This may have been answered but, did they adding running for the other games to do time trials? I ask since I only got a sapphire in the first level of crash 2, don't wanna waste my time if they added it.

Yeah, I think they added it to Crash 2 (after you beat Cortex) but not the first game

Lol I didn't read the hint at all, after a few times I knew better.

I've been enjoying watching the video you put up. It reminds me of how fucking hard Crash 1 was
well a lot of Crash 1 is just some bullshit but anyway
. And this version is simplified since you don't have to beat the levels in one go. Those bonus rooms used to be 1 shot onlys. Fuck. You gonna post more vids btw?

Probably yeah, most likely tomorrow as I'll have more time then. Tonight is kind of hard because I gotta submit a project in less than 3 hours and I'll probably be done in one and a half or a bit less. GAF ain't helping lol.

Okay, just died about 10 times on the level after Hog Wild and I'm getting mad. Have to restart it because I got a Game Over. IT'S SO HARD.

Seriously y'all complaining about Crash 1 and here I am getting repeated Game Overs on the first few warp rooms of Crash 2.

I mean I am attempting secret paths and everything but damned if I'm not bad at this after so many years.

Oh boy, I'll really have to beat The Lost City breaking all boxes without dying to get the gem.

This platinum is gonna be fun

Phew, Crash 1 done. (Only 70%, though)

Played the first couple levels of Crash 2 and the difference is night and day. The analog controls on Crash 1 are terrible (which I expected, as the original predated analog stick controls) but the D-Pad controls were more finicky than I remembered. Crash 2 is super smooth, definitely had more fun with those first two levels than the majority of all the levels in Crash 1.

Don't know if I'll shoot for 100% in Crash 1 -- some of the levels are more punishing than I remember, and some of the time trials are no joke.

Still enjoyed Crash 1 overall, but the level design and controls definitely haven't aged very gracefully. Worth a playthrough for the nostalgia, at the very least.

Spent the entire day 100%ing Crash Bandicoot 1. Vicarious Visions did a fantastic job with the whole trilogy and the improvements to Crash 1 are a godsend, but holy hell does Crash 1 suck just in general. The entire game is filled with stupid designs. Gave me a headache plowing through it all. Don't think I'll be going for the relics any time soon, maybe once I'm done with the other, way better Crash games.

Seriously, fuck that hidden crate in The Great Gate.
