:( The Doctor will never be ginger will they?
You can't just jump to really radical stuff like that. They're gonna have to work up to that and they've only just managed to get a woman cast for the first time.

Speaking of which good choice and look forward to seeing how she approaches the role.

They're going to have to bring Missy back for sure now so they can square off.

Any word on companions? Going by general form since Eccleston she should be getting an attractive young guy I guess.

Could be good, could be bad. The last two to three seasons weren't disappointing because of the actors, they were disappointing because of the stories.

She was great in Attack the Block, and it's high past time we got something other than a white guy as Doctor. Looking forward to it. Also, I hope they bring River Song back in, just to make heads explode.

I really want The Doctor to be completely unsurprised and not mention it at all EXCEPT for the lack of ginger hair. I want The Doctor to treat this as something completely normal just to rub it in on the people who hate this. Like, if you have the character themself be completely fine with it and not making a big deal (even though it is, but a good big deal not a bad big deal) then I feel it kind of puts a middle finger up to all the "fans" who are salty as fuck.

Capaldi was the first Doctor I hardly watched. Mainly because the episodes were wack. Glad we getting a lady doc, next we need a POC.

I wish she was older. She‘s as young as Smith... but well, I need to start accepting that I‘ll be older than people who play the Doctor for the rest of my life looking at how Capaldi bombed :(

But hey, looking forward to the next season and hopefully finally regular seasons again!

Already answered earlier, she's not the youngest doctor.

Jodie is the fourth youngest Doctor.

Smith: 25
Davison: 30
Tennant: 34
Whittaker: 35

He was barely in Harry Potter since his "character" was played by someone else almost the entire time.

He was in Harry Potter about as much as all but the four main characters of that film were; was the lynch-pin of the plot and arguably the villain of the movie.

I knew who he was at the time, and I can't say I knew Whittaker by name.

You have to wonder what misogynists were getting from watching Doctor Who. The show's always worn its politics on its sleeve.

Great announcement. It was only a matter of time and they've been hinting at it for a while now in the show. Especially in the finale.

I was so excited when I saw this tweeted. I'm still all happy inside. The writers better do her justice. With Moffat leaving, it's gonna be interesting.

TBH, I thought Ben Whishaw was going to get the role.

Was talking about this with friends and said I was hoping they would go with a female doctor. Happy to see they have. Now I should start watching this past season.

Liked her in Broadchurch. Not sure how she will be as the Doctor but I'm sure she'll do just fine, plus she'll have the best doctor (Tennant) to give her tips.

It must be humbling to know the months that he has spent investing in his "why a woman shouldn't be my favourite fictional character" argument have all been wasted because he's actually a real big idiot.

I like his twitter image. He desperately wants the world to see him as a thoughtful, rational person with that contemplative pose.
