Very concerning and disturbing, if true.
The man has brain cancer and is dying. Civility even in the face of politics you disagree with is something that takes precedence over all.he last thread we had on this was gross and this one seems to continue that trend. I wish the man well and hope he's able to overcome this tremendous hardship.
We can just create a seperate thread later for directing his policies and philosophies. Dragging those through the mud in a thread about fucking brain cancer isn't the most tasteful way of discussing it.
Because they have a different political view? Yes, let's put this kid in foster care where the odds are never great for kids.I fully believe that parent should have had her child taken away from her.
So your regret over McCain's illness is contingent on his recovering from said illness? If not explicitly logically faulty, you'll grant that sounds a bit odd.
It has everything to do with McCain specifically getting brain cancer?Except it literally does have everything to do with brain cancer, breast cancer, every cancer that millions of Americans will eventually get that McCain and his party would have fucked over.
If you only see it in such simple terms, sure. Sorry you don't feel empathy for those who may not feel it for you. You being a dick in return doesn't make you a better person.

It also doesn't make you a worse person as you're trying to push.If you only see it in such simple terms, sure. Sorry you don't feel empathy for those who may not feel it for you. You being a dick in return doesn't make you a better person.
What do you mean it "seems to be a requirement nowadays"So he was a shitty politician that seems to be a requirement nowadays.
He still served and was a pow that's commendable enough for me to not cheer for his death.
It's possible and even okay to hold competing impulses and conflicting ideas.
Like, John McCain sucks, but I'm still sorry he has brain cancer. He does suck, though. A lot! He's terrible, actually. I hope he pulls through and comes to realize what a wicked little shitbird he is. Because I wouldn't wish brain cancer on anyone ... even John McCain, who sucks, remember, and should not ever have been in a position of power in American governance.
(Get well soon, asshole.)

You point fingers at posters in this thread for being "silly" and your rejoinder is a bunch of intellectually dishonest nonsense.
"Obviously, it's because he's famous." Gee, thanks. Now, why is he famous, Chadtwo? What is he famous for?
A: John McCain is a politician. We are discussing his illness because he is a notable politician. His politics cannot be divorced from a large discussion about his health because the only reason we care about his health is because we know of him through his politics. Demanding others ignore that aspect of his life when it directly impacts so many of us is as "silly" as the comments you've complained about.
Ah, gotta love a good smokescreen, "I'm not gonna reveal who I'm actually talking about" post. So, who exactly are you calling cowards here?

This place is awful sometimes.
Yes, maybe we should hope all GOPers get brain cancer! That will solve our problemsYes because it hopefully means he never returns to politics to continue supporting his terrible party robbing people of healthcare for their cancers for a tax break on rich folks. Cancer sucks but I am not sad at all to see him go. He has earned no empathy from me, I do feel for his family. That;'s about it.

Terrible point. Not everybody is a ex-president set for life that won't ever need to care about having healthcare for himself and his family for his entire lifetime.
Talking away healthcare is not different political view please stop saying this.
That he became less rebelliousness in his old age, under the possible influence of a brain tumor, doesn't discount the entirety of a man's 30 year senate career.
You don't need to be an ex-president to not wish death upon people.
Yes, maybe we should hope all GOPers get brain cancer! That will solve our problems
He wasn't going to vote for the abomination of a bill the Senate cobbled together in a secret room, mostly because ending the funding for the medicaid expansion would particularly fuck over AZ, which expanded Medicaid over two decades ago. Every AZ resident living in poverty is covered by Medicaid.
No telling whether whether he would vote for something almost as bad but he was heavily leaning no on this one.
I hope he recovers and gains newfound empathy from his experience for all of us not fortunate enough to be a senator.
You said you're happy he has it so he won't return. Which suggests you view GOPers getting brain cancer as a positive thingDid I say that? No I said fuck him.
This place is awful sometimes.
The man was literally tortured. If that doesn't change your perspective of things, not sure what cancer at the end of a well lived life will do for that insight.

So that gives us the moral high ground to low key celebrate the suffering of someone from an opposing political party? I mean at some point here we can apply your logic to anyone who supports the Republican party and similarly dismiss or belittle any suffering they might incur as well. My question to you is: where do we draw the line?So once again we're going to try and chalk up people losing vital healthcare to simple political differences. That is NOT what this is. If it were that simple you would be right, but it's not.

Sorry?Loving the honesty, really am.
"I am going to vote for something that will take away the essential health options for most, directly and indirectly causing many to die and/or have prolonged suffering as they do."
"Well, I don't agree, but I still respect that opinion."
Boy.

His Republican vote means just as much as any other citizens. Now do we blame them as well when they have medical issues? Or are we only allowed to act this way towards politicians? It's a fair question to ask.
He served and was a pow in an illegal war in which the US comitted war crimes against the indigenous population of Vietnam. How commendable of him to defend his motherland like that.So he was a shitty politician that seems to be a requirement nowadays.
He still served and was a pow that's commendable enough for me to not cheer for his death.
What do you call someone who tries to kill innocent people on a large scale? I'm open to suggestions. Terrorist worked for the mood I was in when I wrote that. I've certainly felt terrorized by the GOP since last year. You're right. He's a terrorist.
I don't know his family. I don't even know their names, or what they look like. I haven't thought or commented about them at all. There are grieving families all across America and the vast majority of them aren't as fortunate as McCain or his loved ones....and fuck his grieving family!
I don't care if he recovers or does not, assuming both outcomes lead to his exit from American politics. However, if that cancer is the primary thing preventing him from stripping other Americans with cancer from their healthcare, I refuse to pretend that I do not see it as a positive thing for the country and specifically my family.Because hoping someone who has BRAIN CANCER gets better automatically equates to me hoping his political views are successful.
You said you're happy he has it so he won't return. Which suggests you view GOPers getting brain cancer as a positive thing
I think it is far more likely he fall in to a chemo induced delirium, forget the names of faces of his closest loved ones, and slowly become a husk of what he once was and die from the cancer. This would be the best outcome.
