Capcom would cost more than a single MonHun game would make. This is asinine.
Accurate.
The amount of Switch hardware it would sell + the game itself.
Maybe I'm underestimating Capcom's value at this point... so it would take 2 Monster Hunters.
I don't think there's a single Capcom property more important to any console maker than Monster Hunter is to Nintendo.
Yep, and despite it not being a SFV situation, that's completely lost in the messaging. Combine that with the Polygon article setting the tone and telling people to hate the game for being something that it wasn't and you probably have most people thinking this game is lacking like SFV at launch when it's really everything people wanted from SFV featureset-wise.Thing is, SFV was the beginning. I have no doubt that SFV's crap has carried over to the perception towards MVCI. The thing with MVCI is that they think promoting the story is somehow going to overwrite all of the other issues. Time and time again, you'd keep hearing them talk about how the game will be "content rich", and they "won't release it until it's ready". It seems like their main focus is on the single-player content that was missing from SFV.
The saddest is thing is a lot of us throwing capcom through the ringer are gonna be the one's buying it day one. So it's not like we didn't try.
Despite the narrative I don't see Infinite and DBFZ competing with each other.

Just hope a lot of you come to accept this will probably be the last Marvel vs. Capcom game.
It's totally on Marvel too. fuck marvel and their petty roster bullshit.
Fox is killing Fantastic Four just fine on their own.
Wait for DLC.My hype for this game has dropped to zero.
No Doom and Kamala K :-(
Based on the roster, the lost of the Marvel themes, you have to wonder if working with Marvel is even worth it nowadays. Capcom apparently has such a minuscule budget with this game, yet it seems Marvel didn't help at all in that area. There isn't even a Marvel writer on the story.
So really, aside from a few random tweets talking about MVCI, what has Marvel done for this game besides allow Capcom to use (limited amount) their characters?

I used to want Capcom All Stars way more than MvC4 just because I knew modern Marvel would be a pain in the ass to work with, but given the Capcom side of the roster here, I'd be just as worried about CAS being a disappointment.
Seriously, we have less DMC characters than GnG characters. That's fucked up.
And you know what? A lot of this is on Marvel.
We know Marvel Games wants story story story to be the focus of the game, and they always have a rep sitting in on and guiding the direction of every interview. Bill Rosemann or someone is there reiterating how much they care about story while ignoring the rest of the product, and Mike Evans and co have to sit there and explain how stones work etc.
This is fine, they need to reiterate much of this stuff for the press. But there's no supplementation of that. No weekly streams or video content to keep hype going, additional information few and faaaaaaaaaaaaaar inbetween in written interviews, and if it wasn't for that sit down with Yipes we probably wouldn't have a gameplay breakdown to work off of or know things like how you can dump the rest of your Infinity Storm to get a free Level 3.
I've come to peace with this being a Story-focused and driven game a long time ago but I feel like I'm still in the minority even in this thread, and things like character selection being tied to story is lost on many.

Lies from Amy PascalDidn't they say that Venom and Silver/Black were kinda-sorta in the MCU, but will never interact with it?
And you know what? A lot of this is on Marvel.
This really can't be said enough. Ya'll have zero clue just how difficult working with the House of Mouse is as an external entity.
Several aspects of this game (roster, sound, visuals, marketing) are a massive step down from the previous installment. Gameplay is subjective, but I personally enjoy MvC3s control scheme a hell of a lot more than MvCIs.
- Between the dearth of series newcomers and absence of Fox characters, the roster is abysmal. Wolverine has been playable in all six of Capcoms Marvel fighting games to date. He was the only character with perfect attendance until now.
- The art direction is sterile and soulless, and several of the character models look utterly terrible. The only question Capcom allowed at their big MvC Comic-Con panel was a pre-selected question from Ono asking about Chun-Lis face. I cant make this shit up.
- All of the classic Marvel character themes are gone and replaced with generic Hollywood blockbuster music.
- The voice acting is flat and unexciting, the sound mixing is poor, and most of the new voice actors are worse than their MvC3 counterparts. Everyone sounds like they were recorded in a bathroom stall while on Ambien.
- The presentation is lazy and amateurish. Was an intern paid fifty bucks to put together the menus and character select screen?
- The PR is borderline insulting: legacy wont be lost, we were not confined to the MCU, characters are just functions, et cetera.
- The marketing is practically nonexistent. Remember MvC3s hype-inducing CG trailers, silhouette teases, individual character trailers, and public character reveals with crazy crowd reactions? I certainly do.

Well...perhaps you can view Firebrand as more of a "Gargoyle's Quest" rep than a "Ghost N' Goblins" one, if that makes any sense.
Kinda like how Yoshi, Wario and Donkey Kong all rep their own series in Smash despite being apart of the greater Mario universe.

I hate seeing this happen to one of my favorite video game series.

Real talk, I'd love for a She-Hulk villain to show up!So, when are we getting itania for Infinte?

She-Hulk is just a matter of when, not if. She's a MvC3 veteran so they can still reuse assets, her gameplay will fit the 2v2 format arguably even better than it did in the 3v3, she has her fans and she's been getting decent attention in other Marvel games and Marvel Comics too. She's coming, question is how quickly.Hell, I'd love for She-Hulk to show up again. Let's start with the bare minimum and work our way up.

Characters like Titania on the other hand really are a matter of "if".
If the game looks like this with disney "backing" I shudder at what a capcom all stars would look like. Roster would probably be terrible there too.

They're completely different pieces of music.Wait, are they boring 'Hollywood movie' versions of the old themes or completely different pieces of music? I really hope its not the latter. :-(
