Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster |DT2| oh dear...

Looking forward to capcom's excuse to when this bombs. I remember for SF x T they said it was because there was too many fighting games out at the time and totally not their fault.

What do you know that excuse just might work again.

"We had no idea Tekken 7 and Injustice 2 would be so well received. We wouldnt have underperformed if those weren't on the market"

I just have no idea how anyone at Capcom could logically expect this project to move 2 million. They've done the absolute bare minimum in everything (sans gameplay) when it comes to this game.

I really wish that I'm in those office so I really want to see the logics behind those moves lately. It just seems lackluster in general since they just seems to give up on their marketing after those backlashes. I really hope they are going to pick up with their marketing, starting with Gamescom.

If the product failed, it's on Marvel and Capcom equally. I wonder if Capcom workers just knew it wouldn't do very well at launch?

I know Capcom has a pretty consistent habit of missing their sales goals but I think they'll at least come close this time. It's a crossover between the biggest film franchise on the planet and a handful of the most iconic/popular video game series, surely it's not going to bomb right out of the gate. I know a lot of people are upset with the graphics and the roster but they're obviously pushing the game more toward MCU fans and casual gamers, which I don't think they've done anything to burn at this point. It's hard to predict but across all 3 platforms I really think the people expecting some kind of massive failure are going to be surprised.

My roommate manages a comic shop, I go in on Tuesdays to see the new books. Three MVCI variants are in and will be for sale tomorrow for anyone interested that has a LCS nearby. I'll probably be collecting them just because it's easy for me to get them.

The ones out are Hulk/Ryu, Nova/Zero and Strider/Gamora

I think they hit that target if they delay the game to May (one week before Infinity War), fix all the problems and release a polished product that doesn't feel like one of the cheapest cash grabs they've ever done.

but that's not happening lol

I do expect they'll miss the 2 million now with how the marketing and reception has been.
Not to mention it comes out close to Destiny 2, so that'll eat into the casual market they want.

I don't think it'll bomb like Dead Rising 4 did though. Which STILL hasn't cleared 1 million.

NBA 2K also comes out the same day.

Every game store in the world is going to have shelves full of those two games and posters everywhere for them. If a casual walks into a Gamestop and has the choice between NBA, Destiny and Marvel vs Capcom Infinite....

yeah...

Oh man, I forgot that Dead Rising 4 did so bad. :(

I wonder if there'll be a final marketing push near game release. You would think, but given how awkward and unintuitive the marketing for this game has been so far...

Simply delaying it to add in the DLC characters would do wonders, I think.

But yeah, ain't no delays happening. Capcom is just hoping for the best. I ain't expecting no bomb, but I'm not expecting it to do 2 million. If it does, I'd really be surprised.

No Dormammu/Firebrand?

That's a fucking death wish.

1) bad marketing
2) bad impression so it's harder to shake it off
3) people are more likely to be consented with Marvel fighting games on the mobile so they probably going to stick with it
4) mobile game costs vs 60 dollars
5) reviews

I'm here to announce Venom for the game.
We couldn't afford to actually make a facebook or twitter post so this neogaf post is the official confirmation. It was also too expensive to get an artist to draw venom so please just take this. Please be excited for gamescom.

Even had they not leaked, i'd be wondering why we are getting reveals off a comic cover with no sort of trailer alongside them.
The "massive" trailer style over the individual character reveals was a mistake.

Wait is that real?! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAH

I cant believe someone gets paid for this marketing job. This is (pardon my pun) just comical at this point

That's a fucking death wish.

Releasing a rushed piece of shit in the jam packed September/October/November period when the big boys are dropping the AAA titles is the very definition of a death wish.

OR

Releasing a polished Marvel game alongside possibly the biggest Marvel movie of all time when Marvel hype is at an all time high, additional marketing for the game is done by the movie marketing being everywhere, plus May is a less competitive month when it comes to new game releases (Injustice gets it).

As far as that date is... I wouldnt have a problem if it meant a polished game with a base roster to rival MVC2. I want the game in my hands, but I also want a good game in my hands. I have patience.

I do believe a delay would at least tell people that Capcom doesn't want to rush the shit out.

It's all pointless to even talk about, though. We know Capcom really ain't about that. This company just seems to think they can get by doing the same stuff and don't realize they're only convincing people to run in the other direction. Pretty sad to see how far Capcom's fallen.

I don't think Marvel would allow any delays, they have Square Enix's announcement in 2018 to focus on (or not, if this is any indication, maybe Telltale's GOTG as well considering I don't remember much marketing done for that either)

Square Enix said that they'd announce it in 2018, not release it.

I hate because I love.

If I didn't give a shit about Capcom, Marvel, Marvel vs Capcom, all of these amazing, beloved properties or fighting games in general, I wouldn't even waste my time.

Marvel vs Capcom isn't Call of Duty. There is no "better luck next year" if the game isn't great. It's "better luck in 10 years, if at all", and that's painful.

Didn't SFV and its abysmal launch still break a million in its first month? Is it really unreasonable to think that between the Marvel license, Xbox One release, and the fact it's generally a more complete package at launch (story/arcade mode, larger roster, etc.) they could squeeze out 2 mil? They might miss it but I don't think it would be by much.

It blows my mind that the marketing for this game did not consist of exciting character specific reveal trailers. Unfortunately for Infinite, Capcom and Marvel Games have bungled the marketing at every single step. From staff interviews to promotional art. Its so bad that its impressive.

how low does capcom's value have to become before they get bought out

weren't they preparing for a buyout a couple of years back?

I feel like Nintendo could buy them out and make their money back off a one Switch exclusive Monster Hunter... let alone all the other properties they'd get.

Maybe that would get them back on track?

Yes but it's also worth noting everyone was hyped for sfv until a week before launch when it was found out the game had no content.

I believe youre right, but how many chances are people willing to give Capcom? Many people feel they have done nothing right since the launch of SFxT.

Capcom would cost more than a single MonHun game would make. This is asinine.

Thing is, SFV was the beginning. I have no doubt that SFV's crap has carried over to the perception towards MVCI. The thing with MVCI is that they think promoting the story is somehow going to overwrite all of the other issues. Time and time again, you'd keep hearing them talk about how the game will be "content rich", and they "won't release it until it's ready". It seems like their main focus is on the single-player content that was missing from SFV.
